Brown belt karateka here. The kick you're talking about at 13:20 is called a mae geri and is the first kick taught in karate (all types). A lot of ppl who like to hate on Seagal try deriding him by deriding Aikido. What they always neglect is the fact that Seagal is also legitimately a black belt in karate and judo. A lot of the moves you see him do in his movies too are karate. It just so happens that his highest rank in any martial art he studies is aikido so that's what ppl associate him with but it discredits the rest of his training. Anyway back to the kick .. 1000% that kick would work and I think is the most effective thing he teaches which he probably knows too hence why he taught it to the ufc guys. The problem with the way maegeri is taught is the sensei teaches you to strongly chamber the knee first before then driving the foot.. they do this I think to emphasize the technique and to improve range of movement/ flexibility etc but it telegraphs the kick as he says. If you watch a lot of ufc they Telegraph their kicks by this knee raising. Compare that to the Anderson silva kick on couture and it goes like a spear just as Seagal taught him. Granted the guy talks a lot of crap, takes himself way too seriously and has a mammoth ego but ppl have turned him into a complete joke and he doesn't deserve to be. He is a legit martial artist. KZbin/ Google Royson Gracies take on Seagal, sums him up best.

Like I've said before: he's a pretty big dude. But let's see him try that on a trained fighter. I mean, he's already , literally, gottin the shit choked out him. He's a bully. A HUGE one. Try that on Brock Lesnar.

We learn about Steven Seagal's invisible punch! We learn the truth about Bruce Lee! Steven Seagal says in reference to the truth about Bruce Lee, "Like any other human being, he was human! 😲 😆🤣🤣🤣🤣 You can't make this stuff up, but perhaps Steven Seagal can make up stuff (embellish his accomplishments, having renown martial arts masters as friends, participating in law enforcement, blues singer, or whatever else he can imagine).

@@elmoviemaster It's been an ongoing discussion for a long time now, that in the street fight Seagal would probably run for his life rather than standing to fight. Aikido isn't going to help one when he's attacked by two or three thugs. Still, if one has an options to some damage with it, that's fine. But when angry simple-minded people attack you, that shit he shows won't fly.

@@elmoviemaster As for his personality. Well, in my view he's boredline narcississt, lying all his life. That's pretty bad. But for me the most awful thing about his attitude is that he speaks trite shit like it was profound. I hate that in people, and he's a textbook of how pathetic that is.

Seagal's entry into the film industry came quite late compared to other actors like Bronson, Eastwood, Norris, Stallone and Schwarzenegger in the 60s and 70s. I think Seagal was 37 or 38 when he appeared in his debut film "Above the Law" so he doesn't have a resume of films or celebrity to fall back on like Schwarzenegger who was into bodybuilding and real estate before turning to acting. Seagal has to invent a past in order to compete with other more bankable action stars and I guess that's why he mentions things from his past, such as the CIA for example, but I let that slide because he's trying to promote himself in order to keep his career going.
@MelancoliaI

Problem is that CIA crap he throws out is certified, steaming BS. He should be happy he had, (and still has in the most pathetic, direct-to-DVD bargain bin fashion possible) an acting career. Most folks would be grateful for that alone.

Well done man! The two things that I liked the most and it was so funny to me (cuz I noticed them before) is your reaction about him saying "Kararte" and when he was taking couple of rests! 🤣🤣 I think you have missed to mention that the two boys being a martial artists (one of them is a national team athlete) they should know very well that all his techniques and what he's talked about is a BULSHIT! But they would keep it for themselves as all what they want of interviewing him is to getting views. This is the second video if you would like to make a video about it. Thank you :) Glad you liked it. and yes haha he took a few rests and had that handy fan lmao. Also, thank you for pointing that out. Just looked at another of their videos. The two boys are extremely talented. Will be watching more of their videos. and I don't know why they didn't call Steven out on his crap...but they both seem like genuinely good guys and had the patience of gold for dealing with his bs. Also, thank you for the link. I will be reacting to it ASAP. Thanks again for watching :)

Sir... the "flips" are done for the person's safety. Seagal himself and everyone that has trained with him knows that in real life the person won't flip... they'll crumble straight DOWN hard, with a broken joint. Fight over. The younger, taller brother is a pro MMA fighter. The one in the Karate Gi is a longtime Karate black belt. Many of Seagal's strikes come from Karate and old Japanese Jujutsu. He's a black belt in Karate, Judo/JJ, and Kenjutsu. He also trained in Wing Chun with Sifu Randy Williams and Sifu Samuel Kwok. Is he fat now? Well yeah, but let's keep in mind he's 70 years old with a thyroid condition. There are many MMA former champs that are way younger than him and already fat too.
@elmoviemaster
@elmoviemaster 2 жыл бұрын
I know it's done for safety. That's why he has to flip in demonstrations. No one wants their arm to break. The thing is, the average person may not know that. When you watch his movies. He does those flips on characters. Imagine a regular viewer watching those flips. They would want to practice aikido thinking that it would translate exactly the same way. Regardless, I am not discrediting his ability. He does know the art and he knows what he is talking about in regards to Martial Arts. As for the brothers, I just discovered them Both seem like genuinely good guys and are very talented in what they do. As for his weight, yeah he is definitely older now. Wasn't aware he had a thyroid problem
