REACTION - Haruna+Miho of Lovebites in Destrose "Headless Goddess" (LIVE)

Thanks for your reaction. In December 2014, Haruna played her last concert as a member of DESTROSE . Haruna left the band and the music industry due to her plans to get married. Miho continued to play DESTROSE. In July 2015, the final concert of DESTROSE took place, after which the band broke up. Miho began collaborating with other bands. In 2015-2016, Miho (as a support bassist) played in the bands ESTRELLA and MOTH IN LILAC. In July - March 2017, Miho participated (as a support bassist) in the concerts of the metal band COMA COUNTESS. The idea of starting a band, which was later named LOVEBITES, came from Miho. Miho had a dream to create her own band ( her dream band ), which would be different from other Japanese metal bands (songs in English, white dresses, etc.). She wanted play metal that draws on the New Wave of British Heavy Metal. Miho invited Haruna to join her. At the end of June - beginning of July 2016, Miho announced her new band. Moreover, the band consisted of 4 people: Miho, Haruna, Midori and Asami. Miyaka (Mi-ya) was the support musician. Miyako became a permanent member of the band only in August 2017. Haruna got two bass drums at the beginning of 2019. In DESTROSE and LOVEBITES (from 2016-2018), Haruna had one bass drum, but two bass pedals. Some more detail on Destrose: Destrose started out in 2005 under the name Destroya. They never achieved lineup stability, going through an incredible 23 different members in their run of 9 years. This is probably their best-known line-up. The live concert is from 2013. The blonde guitarist with the pirate hat is Minako Nakamura (stage name Mina), founder and bandleader and the only constant member. Former members went on to form many other all-female metal bands. There are very few clips of Destrose available on youtube, but here are three of the better ones: The first big spin-off from Destrose was Mary's Blood, which at various times included six different former Destrose members including most of the final line-up. That lineup (Eye, Rio, Mari and Saki) was stable from 2012 until early 2022, when they disbanded. (Saki has gone on to become one of the founders of Nemophila). The legendary band Destrose was a pioneer in the all-female metal bands. A lot of famous Japanese female metal musicians started their career in Destrose like Saki from Nemophila, Miho and Haruna from Lovebites. captain Mina from Fate Gear and Narumi from Disqualia. I don't think Haruna's family has anything to do with Pearl drums. Her last name is Ishikawa not Yanagisawa and she's playing a Natal drum kit. If her family owned Pearl drums, I'm pretty sure she'd be playing Pearl.

Miho and Haruna have both grown as musicians since the Destrose days but it's still nice to check out their origins. The 2 bass drum look is mostly that, a look, most drummers these days use a single bass drum with double pedals and get the same desired effect.

A few misconceptions about Destrose: 1. The band formed in 2006, not 2005. 2. No one left Destrose to form Mary's Blood. The band split up at the end of 2008. Three of the former members (Eye, Eri & Mari) joined other bands, while Mina and Kayo remained out of the music scene. About a year later, at the insistence of some friends, Mina re-formed the band with new members. Among those new musicians was 18y/o Saki. Around the same time, Kayo (real name Niboshi) desided to reform the band as well so she contacted Eye, Eri & Mari. Since Mina was already in the process of reforming the band, they decided to form a new band instead, for which they called in their friend Chiba to play guitar along with Eri. This new band became Mary's Blood, named after the cocktail. 3. Mari, the drummer, was never an official member of the band. Kind of like Yashiro in Mary's Blood. 4. Saki did not leave Destrose to join Mary's Blood. She was in the band from 2009 to 2010. After Destrose, she formed two bands of her own, Mixx and then Re:Maker. She joined Mary's Blood in 2012 after Chiba and Niboshi left. For a few months she and Eri shared guitar duties before Eri also left the band. There you have it. If you have questions, talk to Mina on X. A bit of trivia: When Ami (who replaced Kayo/Niboshi) left Destrose around 2012, Miho replaced her. After Destrose final split in 2015, Miho was a support musician for Moth in Lilac and later joined the band Comma Countess. When she decided to form Lovebites, Ami replaced her in Comma Countess.

I'm sorry, I'll clarify a little. 😊Miho joined DESTROSE at the end of 2011. As a support bassist, Miho participated in the first COMA COUNTESS concerts, which took place in January 2017 - March 2017. At that time, LOVEBITES already existed and performed at concerts. Miho announced the creation of LOVEBITES in late June - early July 2016. It seems quite a few people learned of Destrose after listening to Lovebites (that is indeed not a bad thing). I was the other way around. I had seen and heard Destrose and was captivated in those years by Haruna and her playing a such a young age. She and Miho brought me to Lovebites, and I will be forever grateful. Did you notice Haruna had her star cymbals already?

a great song from a super group, miho and haruna, the fantasic marina on vocals, love her. she is actual around with her band mardelas. I believe the red haired guitar player is narumi, I think, she has left lonesome blue already. I do not understand, why she is holding back here. she is super-top-level. it can be witnessed on her solo album "the seed", I recommend the song "red rabbit".

Not only LOVEBITEs came out of this band, but Nemophila indirectly as well. As others have mentioned Saki was in this band before Miho and Haruna had joined. Before Saki's time, several founding members had left and formed Mary's Blood. Saki joined Mary's Blood after leaving Destrose , and was there when Nemophila formed. It's 2023, Destrose was dissolved 8 years ago or as the Japanese say : they went into indefinite hiatus. And with a reasonable reactor, they achieve more views than most bands that still exist today. I think more DVD/CD sets of Destrose have been sold in the last 3 years than in the entire existence of the band. What opportunities and no one uses them. Never experienced anything like it.👉🥴😵😵‍💫👈

2019 Haruna added the second bass drum at the Mynavi Blitz Akasaka (Daughters of the Dawn) concert. She may have used it at the two concerts prior to that in 2019 but I wasn't there nor are there any videos of those shows on KZbin to confirm or deny that.

I'm sorry, but I think you are mistaken. 🤔If you watch the LOVEBITES concerts (2019, 2020, 2021 and 2023) and look closely, you will see that to pick up the sound from the drums, a separate microphone is connected to each of the two bass drums. This is very clearly visible, for example, during Haruna's drum solo (concert September 24, 2023): lovebites/haruna drum solo/Stand And Deliver Nothing personal. 🤗

Haruna was using both feet in this one already. It’s two beaters on the head of the single bass drum. iirc, she uses the same setup now, but with a second drum for the look of the kit and to have another head to put logos on & such. Note: Aldious’s drummer Marina puts a third kick drum, as far as I know just for show. She’ got the idea from her legendary dad Terry Bozzio (Frank Zappa, Missing Persons, etc), although for all I know that crazy guy might have used all three! Don’t know if you’d ever noticed Haruna’s “star symbols”, they are her trademark but are also just there to look good & distinctive. She spins them when the spotlight is in her. Miho & Asami play with them too; not mic’d for sound tho, just there for the visual. All from this lineup are still actively rock stars. In fact only a small percentage of the 20 members that came thru Destrose no longer play. White shirted Captain Mina (the only constant member) now leads Fate Gear. Narumi of the long red hair was in Disqualia with Nemophila’s Hazuki, was the goto guitarist when Aldious’s Toki was on maternity leave but they had international obligations (NAMM show, Vegas I think?), had a stellar solo instrumental album out The Seed, and was in the first incarnation of new band Lonesome Blue. Try singer Marina’s band Mardelas. Mao (sixth member writer keyboardist of Lovebites) joined them for the EP that included Apocalypse. I also like Souder Thread. Singer Ibuki’s Disqualia also included drummer RisaRisa. And I feel like I’m still forgetting 5-19 people… Love their scene, it’s keeps cross breeding and improving. Enjoy the rabbit hole! Great reaction. Haruna with the tiny hat is too precious. This band rocked. Encyclopedia Metallum at metal archives is an excellent source of information for metal music. Destrose didn't have a lot of output but they sure had a lot of talent pass through. These are just a few. Saki - Guitars (2009-2010). Mary's Blood, Nemophila Eye - Vocals (2007-2008). Mary's Blood Captain Mina (2007-2015) - Guitars. Fate Gear, Marina - Vocals (2013-14). Mardelas Narumi - Guitars (2012-2015). Disqualia And of course Miho - Bass, backing vocals (2011-2015) - Lovebites, Down Dope Squad Haruna - Drums (2012-2014). Left Destrose to get married from what I understand. Lovebites. Mob Rules was 1981. Turn up the Night was my introduction to Heavy Metal back in 1982. Needless to say I was hooked.

A better song to check is "Maze" and "Rin". There is a live set for "Maze" on YT. Let me give you a little info. Miho and Haruna are both excellent musicians with followings. I was a bit sad when Miho left Lovebites. Marina (vocals) is actually an amazing singer. Voice fit for metal. She is still with her band Mardelas. Mina (blond guitar) was really the band leader; she wrote most of the songs. I don't have much to say about her except Destrose had so many member changes during its life. I read some comments saying Mina was the issue with the band. Who knows what really happend. She went to form a new band Fate Gear - still active. Regarding the red haired guitarist (Narumi Suzuki), she is a fantastic musician - I really like her. Check her solo fusion album "The Seed", it's fabulous - listen to the song "Red Rabbit" on YT. She still sports red hair. Also, she was the prettiest member in all of her bands, Destrose, Disqualia and then Lonesome_Blue. Unfortunately, she left Lonesome_Blue recently. She deserves a good band.
