I'm not sure that "Opa Loka" is hypnotic -- but it sure is relentless!

Many peole ( myself included ) regard this song as the FIRST EVER Acid house trance music with its repetetive beat that was to appear towards 1988 but instead of drums and bass, was techno. I welcome any coments.

you shouldn't do that , born to go was psy trance before opa loka

@@acrookedbeat9013 Good comment. But both of these tracks are not as Acid House as Opa Loka.

Good to see you're back on the Hawkwind wagon Todd! The way this track goes into the acoustic Demented Man on the album is sublime IMO. That drumming is called 'motorik', I think they did a lot of jamming to get to some stuff in the 70's, and recorded most stuff (including both songs and electronics) live-in-studio and if you listen to live 70's gigs (obvs allowing for bad quality recordings) you'll hear how well it was all done live and often quite similar to the studio output (compared to their 80's stuff which tends to sound different). They actually included live overdubbed tracks on 2 studio albums during the decade (Hall of the Mountain Grill inc a b-side and PXR5). For something more conventional try Urban Guerrilla, or for another trippy track, try LSD (the track off the Electric Tepee album, not Timothy Leary's gateway experience!).

Whatever source you used, they ran into Opa-Loka from the Biergarten scene from a totally different album, Robert Calvert's Captain Lockheed and the Starfighters.

Hi Peter … So that is where that bit came from that is right before the track started. Thank you clearing up that mystery! Keep rockin’ …

@@drivingwithtodd1781 Do check the Captain Lockheed LP oot. It's a great listen and has a few Hawkwind members contribute bits here and there..

Unusual in that it has Dave Brock(the guitarist, and main man) on bass instead of lemmy.
@acrookedbeat9013 Жыл бұрын
yes Lemmy said he was so bored with Opa Loka that he was asleep when Brock recorded the bass lol

Another pair of unusual tracks from them are "The Demented Man" and "The Forge of Vulcan". The former is a soft, hazy psychadelic piece, the latter is another instrumental that starts with something simple then builds on itself toward a final crescendo. For one with a similar vibe but with a fantasy theme, try "Sword of the East" from a later album of theirs, "The Xenon Codex".

Hey Todd got a question for you, i know you watch my channel to, but who do you got thru so you can play copyright music? I have copyright claim on almost all my songs. Cannot monetize off any!
@drivingwithtodd1781 Жыл бұрын
Hi Tammy … actually I do not monetize any of my videos. I do my channel just for the fun of it and don’t want to deal with that hassle. I have noticed that KZbin has added advertisements to my reactions that do not have copyrighted material. They do this without informing me and I don’t get a penny from them. Hope this answer helps a bit. Take care …
