As far as their training goes Rob has a degree in vocal performance and Austin has a degree in musical theater. In a recent VIP Q&A Tim said that he had taken lots of voice lessons up through high school when he was competing; he didn’t mention anything else. I don know about Chance...Wikipedia says that all members of HF have formal musical training and Chance went to the University of Alabama. I’ve seen a lot of commenters say that they are all “classically trained” which generally implies opera training; perhaps they mean “formally trained”. Adam Rupp has a music degree with trumpet as his primary instrument but plays other instruments as well. I don’t know if anyone has taken voice lessons or has worked with a vocal coach recently. In the same Q&A session Austin mentioned the extensive warm up session that he and Rob go through before a performance Tim said his voice gets warmed up by talking. Chance didn’t comment. As far as accents I asked Rob if the others were giving southern accent lessons because I’ve noticed some southern pronunciations sneaking into his singing (eg sometimes wanted sounds more like “won’t-ed”). He seemed surprised and said he hadn’t noticed. (Sorry for the long answer. I’ll keep the next one short lol)

You can tell they’re having a lot of fun! And OMG Adam is rocking that beat! One of the best ones to showcase Adam in my opinion! Please do “Summer in the Country” now that school is out and it’s summertime!! It will definitely help with any rainy day blues you might be getting from all that rain!

I was thinking you had already reacted to this one. ;-) This one is the all-time favorite of all of Home Free's stuff, for the grandkids here where we live...especially four-year-old Wesley, who loves TRAINS! LOL They all love watching all the different dancers, and Abigail (two years old) loves watching for the BABIES! The people in the clips are from patrons sending in their "short video clips of you dancing to something upbeat." At the time they requested those, I was recovering from two hip surgeries, so it was pretty impossible for me to participate...doggone it! ;-) Through the Timeless tour (about 18 months...just ended), they've been using this one as their encore song, and they typically come out and grab a fan's phone/camera to take pictures at the end, as you saw at 5:17 here in your reaction video. When the song's over, everyone is one their feet and applauding, and still wanting more. Leaving those concerts is HUGELY hard!!! I've only been able to go to one, but I can hardly wait until they are in our area again! :-) They are all trained professionally (college and otherwise), for more than one type of music, and all of them are actually instrumentally-trained as well. They have mentioned in a lot of interviews that there is a lot of stuff that they just HAVE to do to care for their voices. I think a lot of people wouldn't understand that, but being a singer/musician myself, I've always figured they have (as have you, I know). There's a video on KZbin somewhere...I'll look to see if I can find it...where they are doing some BTS stuff, that includes what they do before a concert, which means scales and warm-ups, just as if they were going to sing in an opera. They are conscientious and dedicated, for absolutely sure. I couldn't find that one (it might only be on Patreon), but here is an excellent interview with each of the guys (from "Behind the Mic"), that tells a lot about their backgrounds and how they got to be where they were in 2016...which is even better these days...good stuff! :-) "Home Free HD" kzbin.info/www/bejne/baeVmpuCgKZ-qpI

Actually I've heard Tim singing before he was in Home Free and not use his accent and also some earlier HF songs. It seems he doesn't use it when it doesn't suit the song, ie: "How Great Thou Art". They started focusing on being an "All vocal Country Band" when it was suggested by one of the producers from "The Sing-Off", according to Austin. That's partly how they got chosen to be on the show after many years of trying out, because it made the unique. They always did some country songs but they started to mainly focus in that genre at that time. This new album they have gone a little bit away from focusing on being country band. Tim said they got a new manager, new wardrobe, and are focusing on music that is more authentic to themselves, mostly originals. So I think maybe with new direction they are going he may feel more free with how to use his vocals. I have no idea if he's had any vocal training recently but I have heard him sing without it early on. Also, I've heard a couple singing coaches say that it's just a stylistic choice to sing with a country accent (I'm no expert of course). Thanks for all the Home Free videos!

Love it! I have friends and family in Philly...It's funny I always tell people that if there was another city in the US that you could compare (the people) Boston to it would be Philly. People always say NY, hell no. NYers are loud, obnoxious and rude just for the sake of being loud, obnoxious and rude. People from Boston are loud and can border on obnoxious but that's just who we are and we are NOT rude. We ARE honest (to a fault) don't ask a question unless your prepared for the answer lol, you'll alway's know where you stand with us because we'll tell you (right to your face) and we're slow to warm up to new people but once you are family (and family includes friends and our sports teams) we'll do anything for you. Philly is very much the same, the only difference is, while we are both crazy loyal to our sports teams, Philly gets violent...we just get drunk and depressed. lol

@@Mel_ForReal So true.. I always thought that i grew up in a BIG city.. til I left and came to Philly via NYC.. My whole family is from NE.. mostly Vermont. Sister and Brother both still in the Boston area so I get up there often.Boston is an awesome city.. love it. Yup.. Bostonians are not rude.. just honest and my mom used to say.. "Nobody likes the truth" when I badly reacted to her comments ;-) I am constantly amazed at the Philly fan violence.. the only place I know of that threw snowballs and booed Santa.. and killed that poor robot that was hitchiking over the country.. yikes! So true about sports teams' loyalty .. i have a tshirt that shows the Eagles and the Red Sox logos on it... my teams

lol..Dudette, I'm an old hippie hobbit lady.. and I'm very into Halloween, so this was the name that my "haunter" friends know me by. And got you laughing and jammin' along :) Definitely a feel good song! and its so hard not to dance with this one :) I think Tim lets the Texas twang come through when they are having fun or a country song. You can tell he's really relaxed and enjoying himself here. And the guys are really big into involving the fans.

This is actually one of their more recent songs. Within that last year, but I love it. They go in and out their accents depending on the song. Great reaction.

Actually, Austin is a trained classical & musical theater singer. He worked long & hard to sing without his Georgia accent! He then joined Home Free and all that went out the window, according to Tim. Here is a link to a song they used to do to give Adam a break after his beatbox solo, it is “Bring Him Home” from Les Miserables. kzbin.info/www/bejne/fHLEo6V7n5miqJo It is from a live show by a fan. You will be pleasantly surprised, Austin is amazing!

Except for Bring Him Home I always hear the Georgia in Austin's voice. But I never hear the accent in Tim's voice. Maybe because my folks were from Texas and I spent so many summers there while growing up. "Texas" means family to me and I just don't hear an accent. Plus, living in San Francisco you hear accents from all over the world much less the US. They kind of get lost in the mix.

Thought they just killed it!!! Ummmmmm, sorta remember this being played on the radideo (AM, the wind wasn't strong enough to get FM to us) and maybe a few times on TV. They done a terrific/dynomite job with it. Now, they all could have worn the polyester jumpsuites (they'd kill me if they ever found out someone mentioned that)

Loove this, live!! This vid's from 2018 & their accents change, depending on the song (Adam & Rob are from MN), but Tim/TX and Chance/AL come out a bit more and Austin/GA lets it ALL out, lol!..They're world travelers, even b4 blowing up (cruise ship gigs, etc), heard/seen it all..😊

BTW▶ Tim took choir/classical music in H.S. only, went to Dental college to be "responsible", but his musical voice called him back to music & in Nashville was recruited by a music production co in Calif, cuz he's easily their most prolific, natural songwriter, arranger, composer..Adam/Rob/Austin/Chance went to university for trumpet/voice/voice/journalism, are all multi-instrumentalists example: Quiet Adam plays solid trumpet, bass, guitar, puano/keys/drums, used to sit in w/bands & bbox in clubs for experience (like "vs a drummer") in getwwen gigs, in earlier days, loves classical & techno & arranging complex video game theme music, etc..They all have amaazing talent stories like this!😊

If they have lived and worked all over the world they may be much like me in the sense that I have lived in over 20 of our states and Europe, so even though I'm originally from Boston and have lived in all of the New England states, my North Eastern accent is pretty much non-detectable. I've been told I have a straight American accent, absent of any particular region. I think it's cool that they can bring their out whenever they want to though.

@@annemayseyfried8907 when I said voice lessons I didn't mean to imply that they took them as children or had formal training. However, most professional artists continue, throughout their career, to take private voice lessons for several reasons, as I said in the video one reason is to care for or maintain the vocal cords, this is essential for the sake of career longevity. Secondly, the longer their career and the older they become the voice changes, this is a normal part of life as we age our voice changes but for a singer and especially for someone who sings acapella even the slightest change can change the dynamic of the group, therefore, again, as I stated in the video using a piano as an example, they must tune their instruments much like a piano must be tuned. Thank you so much for all of the histories on the boys I love it, it's kind of like getting to know an old friend or new friend lol. Have an awesome day, see you next Sat. I'm so excited to see the live performances!
