It's was fantastic to see someone else having the same visceral response to this as I did. I had the mistake of watching it for the first time after midnight last night, and struggled to calm down. It's one of the most exciting releases in a long time. It's been following me around in my head all day today, not helped by my sneaking in listens at quiet moments at work. It's definitely has something of a Red Velvet feel to it. What impressed me more is the strength of the mini album - for a rookie release this strong, you do not expect them to sustain the quality into the b sides. I've not seen Sera pause a video this often in a long time!

@@zinja0830 the bgm isn't like red velvet at all but the way vocal harmonies are structured is a lot like rv. also one of the vocalists has a vocal tone a lot like wendy in earlier rv releases so this makes it even stronger.

The most "out there" debut by a girl group I've ever heard. It's like some early 80's industrial/electo instrumental and I love it more each time I hear it. Mystic Story are a sublabel of SM...hence the experimental nature of the song.

The way they sing and the touch of "weird" in the music make them feel like Evil Red Velvet. They're definitely good. Unfortunately, their lore videos made me wish for something completely different, something not even kpop one bit which would have been fun for me, selfishly, but of course it would have been career suicide because in this industry if you don't conform you can't succeed. Expectations crushed, oh well.

The song is largely in three parts. From start to finish, the main intro + bgm is a kind of alarm sound. The new alarm sound gives people tension.Always nervous for three minutes and alternating with that kind of crystal fantasy ringtone. You can be very tired. I think this song is more acceptable than savage, at least not rough, loud but not tired and addictive, the drum is very clean and very positive. I want to have the instrumental version of this song. I feel better than adding vocals. My evaluation of this song is that the composer or arranger seeks too perfection. The results of the perfect melody are so full that it feels more than just filling the traces of a human voice. Of course, this is not an idol pot, but this song may seem to be a composer pot, and the compilation is so full that I don't know the choice. Because Yoon Jong Shin is a genius PD, girls can be buried in the song.

​@@scvholy7142 Oh my gosh, don't you know I'm a savage (fan). It's very abrasive but one of my favourite songs in the experimental pop style. With Ring x Ring I agree that it's a producer-centric song but one of the best parts of the song for me is the chorus vocal melody which releases the tension built-up in the verse. Interestingly Yoon Jong-shin is not credited for this song; it's by Kim Eana and Lee Min-Soo who are also very skilled industry veterans. Moon Sua and Siyoon are officially credited for "Rap Making" which is really cool. I love the rap part of the song.

It reminds me of DC. It reminded me of Piri and Goodnight, especially with the mysterious ending. I liked it better than Savage, which I couldn't really get into.

It's the minor key that gives the sense of foreboding, tension, watchfulness for what is coming up. It hooks you immediately like walking into that strange house, an eeriness that raises the hair on your arms. Then up goes to a major key making you feel relief from the tension but for just that moment before it drops right back into wariness. The complexity and boldness of the composition is a surprising. Great debut.

Billlie (빌리) has been on my radar for quite a long time and I was anxiously checking their "billendar" schedule every day to see what was next. This debut was so INTERESTING in a good way. The EP is even better. Their budget is obviously low but hopefully people support them so they can get that $$$ and have more resources in the future ☺️

This song is absolutely fantastic! Yea it’s definitely in your face and it doesn’t give you much room to ease into it at first, but that’s what sets it apart. It’s memorable in the sense of how “experimental” and unique it is, and it does this sound very well. Listening to it, there’s never a part that feels out of place, it all flows soundly and their voices match their parts very well. THIS is what a debut song should be! It gives you a taste of what the sound will be like for the group and its easily remembered by the listener. I’m so excited to be a Billie fan!!

yes, you're totally right! it's not the same sound per say but the feeling of something totally new and amazing, mysterious and thrilling is like earlier Red Velvet stuff. Specifically reminds me of when I first listened to their Ice Cream Cake album. It was something totally new and unique! Kept me looping that one endlessly because it was so mesmerising and the same seems to be true with Billlie songs, loving them even more with each next listen!

I recommend taking a listen to the whole album aswell, it's quite an interesting listen and honestly a lot of great tracks on it. Some are experimental like the title so i find it nice they seem like they are going to stick with this interesting sound

The song is quite divisive but to be fair I don't think I've seen too many people disliking the song that DIDN'T see the teasers. I think the issue some people are having is the fact the teasers were leading up to something that 100% would have been revolutionary in kpop, it's hard to explain the vibe but it was like nothing anyone had ever seen before (really gotta watch the teasers to understand). Ring x Ring is a legendary debut song in it's own right and definitely needed to exist, but I'll always wonder what would have happened had they gone down the road a lot of people expected them to. (Tbh it would have been super risky)

Basically i had the same reaction as you. Loved it after first listen. Though i saw their live stage first. The MV is not that great to me. But i just love how SM has not stopped experimenting, and are using Mystic Store to promote them. Their mini album is pretty diverse though.
