Please do not say his mother failed. If we use this logic, we're also putting down and saying our prophets who tested with such children failure, astagfirullah. Prophet Adam AS, Prophet Nuh AS and Prophet Yaakub AS taught their children well but still got astray. They've always prayed their children to come back to straight path but hidayah is always from Allah. No parents want their children to stray away from deen. We ourselves our not perfect, while we try our best we must pray that Allah also bestow children have good understanding in deen. Until death comes, path of repentence is always open for anyone.

I was born and raised a hijabi muslim. It took me 2 months to learn al fatihah, 3 years to learn shalat, 6 years to read the Qur'an, 13 years to memorize Juz Amma and 15 years to learn Islam. And I still don't fully understand my religion, because it is a beautifully complex religion. Nas "studied" Islam for a month after he became a munafiq who forgot where he came from and after he "started his own religion". I will always respect everyone around me but seeing him go to scholars for other religions and only asking his mom for a religion that he says he grew up in, was kinda insulting. I'm not shaming his mother, its just a slap in the face when you spent your entire 15 years of life studying from local scholars about something you love so much and still not understanding it fully then some dude on the internet thinks he's better than everyone because he learned the same thing you learned your entire life in a month and not even going to at least 2 or 3 scholars about this. Whenever anyone around them ask anything about Islam, they would always explain it in the most easiest way possible. And almost all of the scholars around me say the same thing after teaching others.
