Hello @ Thom Pearson ! Nightwish fans here, your reaction just appeared on our radar.. Welcome (back..) to the world of symphonic metal! And thank you for checking this legendary band, performing in 2013 at Wacken Open Air festival, in front of a 82k+ audience. About the instrumental and vocal added parts - it's good to know they recorded their orchestral and vocal back tracks with prestigious institutions as London Philharmonic Orchestra. London's The Metro Voices choir group and London's Young Musicians Children's Choir as their regular partners. As I could see, you are familiar with the band, but still a "newbie" :) and I couldn't find your other reaction for "Ghost Love Score" you talked about - maybe it was in another channel. You enjoyed all the key elements of a Nightwish show: the complex composition, the high level musicianship of the band members, the flawless vocals of our Dutch metal queen Floor Jansen. That was a beautiful reaction. Since this is your first "official" Nightwish reaction, it is my duty to give you the short history of the band concentrated by Ann Waychoff, one of the biggest Nightwish fan who has since passed away (and I am doing this in her memory): " Nightwish was started in 1996.They are considered a Symphonic Metal band, with a female main singer. They are from Finland. Tuomas Holopainen, the keyboard player, composes and writes the lyrics for 95% of their music. Marco Hietala is the Bassist and vocals .And there is the guitarist Emppu Vuorinen . Then there is Troy Donockley from UK who is a multi-instrumentalist and vocals. Jukka Nevalainen is the drummer. In 2015 due to Jukka's health issues Kai Hahto became the drummer and as of now is a permanent addition. Nightwish has had three singers. 1st one was Tarja Turunen (Operatic vocals). She was with them until 2005. The 2nd one was Anette Olzon from Sweden (Poppy, strong vocals). She was with them until 2012.The 3rd and current singer is Floor Jansen, from Netherlands (power, operatic, soprano.....most versatile) - you just heard her. There are live concerts that you should use depending on what era. From Wishes to Eternity and End of an Era (Tarja), Montreux Festival live 2012 and Exit Festival (Anette), Live at Wacken 2013, Live at Wembley, Live at Tampere, Vehicle of Spirit, Decades live (Floor). I hope this helps. I want to welcome you to the Nightwish community. I hope you like them enough to continue the journey. Believe me Nightwish will surprise you with their songs. You will never know what to expect. They are unbelievable live. I want to warn you that Nightwish fans are hard core. So be prepared. lol " Hope you'll continue this journey with us, so I'll drop here a list of songs with the current lineup of the band you may like: "Romanticide" live at Wacken 2013 (metal) kzbin.info/www/bejne/sKvCaIJ5eLafjtU "Ever Dream" live at Wacken 2013 (uplifting vocals) kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z4nMZaFuma-WfJo "Song Of Myself" live at Wacken 2013 (dark/metal) kzbin.info/www/bejne/ooLYZoSgnsl7jck "Dead Boy's Poem" - live Buenos Aires 2018 (soulful ballad) kzbin.info/www/bejne/iWmoZH9tnMx_g68 "Ghost River" live at Wacken 2013 (metal) kzbin.info/www/bejne/ZmbImqeaYqp0bKs "My Walden" live at Wembley 2015 (celtic / folk) kzbin.info/www/bejne/oZ_UlnxuZZyNors "Sleeping Sun" live at Tampere 2015 (ballad) kzbin.info/www/bejne/qKTSpZ-wp56qhNk "Stargazer" live at Tampere 2015 (operatic vocals / metal) kzbin.info/www/bejne/hJmopnSGjtKSi8k "Slaying The Dreamer" live at Buenos Aires 2018 (metal) kzbin.info/www/bejne/rXKXZaeglrVopJI "I Want My Tears Back" live at Buenos Aires 2018 (celtic / folk vibe) kzbin.info/www/bejne/inOylZqun8djoa8 "Devil & The Deep Dark Ocean" live In Buenos Aires 2018 (metal) kzbin.info/www/bejne/qmOZo5Ksdr6EZrM "Weak Fantasy" live at Tampere 2015 (dark metal) kzbin.info/www/bejne/d3-VZGyGl9aVoNE "7 Days To The Wolves" live at Wembley 2015 (dark metal) kzbin.info/www/bejne/jqfWl6p3hceKjsU And if you want to hear Floor growling :) then try "Yours Is An Empty Hope" live at Wembley 2015 kzbin.info/www/bejne/rKqvpIhthphmac0 Last but not the least - they just released their 9th studio album on April 10th named "Human :||: Nature" - just take a peek to their official playlist: kzbin.info/aero/PLihZ3gi5Yvzc0pfH2cbNKUUX8o3pb8eVg You can also react to Floor Jansen "tapping" other musical genres in Beste Zangers 2019 (TV show from Netherlands), here is a playlist made by Floor herself (start listen it in reverse order..): kzbin.info/aero/PL8iSYWeQhlimgUnWw1FDdiJN0msPzqpLo To understand better the context of this show you should visit also Jenniezelf's YT channel (En subtitled materials): kzbin.info For entire episodes of the show with En translation, you should check Denise Hofs's DM channel: www.dailymotion.com/xpinkeu/videos Thank you! Hi Gabriel! Thank you so very much for your kind words and this great information. It's amazing to see how passionate Nightwish fans are. I'm really glad that enjoyed this reaction. I really appreciate you sharing all of these great suggestions. So you know, I've been listening to Nightwish for a while but only the mainstream hits. I really enjoyed both Tarja and Anette. I was introduced to Floor through watching the Ghost Love Score video from this concert which I watched before I started making reaction videos. I wish I could un-hear it so I could make one. I may still do a reaction/analysis style video for that. It seems like I've only scratched the surface of their music so I will make a note of all of your suggestions and definitely make some more reactions. Thanks again! 😁🤘

@@ThomFoolery1 Thank you for your heartfelt answer. In my experience, it's better for you that Nightwish is part of your life, so don't be sorry you've already listened to a few songs. This is perhaps their most "radio friendly" song, and I really think everyone and I mean EVERYONE in North America should be requesting this on their local rock radio stations. THIS version! Let's create a real buzz and build the Army so big that when Nightwish comes here to play again, they will be able to fill arenas instead of smaller venues. Come on people! JUST DO IT!

Follow the madness, Alice you know once did! I love Floor's stage presence. Nightwish really nails the visual presentation of live music really well, a lot of bands don't value that at the level that these guys do. Floor's such a commander and is so confident in herself. I will say that the amount of lyrics and the rapidity of their delivery in the verses this song doesn't favor her breath control so she has to intake quickly on some of the transitions.

If you really love music and respect artists, then you don't stop in the middle of the vocals or the solos. And that has nothing to do with copyright, at least at nightwish. They are not so petty there. Except for poet and the pendulum by the beginning part, where the rights are not with nightwish.

Your comment about how they enjoy performing so much is bang on. In the documentary 'Please learn the setlist in 48hrs', Tuomas stated he used to be physically sick before some shows, so apprehensive was he. He then spoke about the band after Floor arrived and, while he didn't specifically say it was because of Floor's arrival, his apprehension and worry disappeared shortly after, and he realised it was all about enjoying the music. That was the number one priority. I may be reading too much into his comment, but watching so many videos of Nightwish, over the past couple of months, he does seem to be more relaxed, and enjoying himself more, after Floor was confirmed as a permanent member. As for this performance, while they were all on top of their game, for me, Jukka was the stand out. That man put his heart and soul into his drums!
