well, they‘ve got many more heavy songs like „stone cold crazy“ (used by metallica) or „gimme the prize“ (much later) and on and on. their catalogue is immensely huge and diverse.

Nevermore" The previous track ends with a three-part vocal harmony from Mercury, May, and Taylor which flows into Mercury playing the piano. This piano carries on to open this track making "Ogre Battle", "The Fairy Feller's Master-Stroke" and the current track, into a medley. All the vocal parts were performed by Mercury, who added some contemporary piano "ring" effects as well. These effects were widely suspected to be synthesisers; however, they were created by someone plucking the piano strings while Mercury played the notes. "Nevermore" is a short ballad written by Mercury about the feelings after a heartbreak.

You can find all the characters in The Fairy Fellow Masterstroke painting if you look...Freddie was so imaginative...imagine, Freddie looking at this painting in the Tate Modern Gallery and this song came to his head..

You have now started the Black side of the album. Or the side that Freddie wrote. The White side is all written by Brian with the last song being Rogers. I think the black cat making an appearance on the black side of the album would of made Freddie happy. He was very much a cat lover.

Lyrics from other bands are mostly like: "Yes! Yes! Here we go! Yes! Yes Yes! Here we go! Welcome to the Show! Yes! Yes! Yes! Don't stop! Don't stop! Yes! Yes! Here we go!" Queen lyrics like: "Ploughman, waggoner Will and types Politician with senatorial pipe, he's a dilly-dally-o! Pedagogue squinting, wears a frown and a satyr peers under lady's gown, dirty fellow! What a dirty laddio!" Spot the difference! *lol ... and yes! "The Fairy Feller Masterstroke" is a painting by Richard Dadd. It think it took him like 9 years (or so) to paint it. As Freddie was an art-student and the paiting is in a museum in London ... perfect! :-) The painting is actutally very "small" ... I saw it once! It's like 50 x 40 cm or something!? o_O But damn! It has some details! ^^+gg Check out the video of a cover-version of an italien design-artist named "Oniric". He highlights every charakter in the painting in a 3D style while the song is playing for a better understanding what's going on! Than you'll notice how epic this song (and painting) really is! I mean: there is a lot going on in this paiting!!! And if you look at every detail, there is an easter-egg hidden in his video! He draw me playing flute in this painting, so actually I attend the master stroke as well!? ^^+gg

No wonder the music papers (NME and/or Rolling Stone) couldn't put Queen into a genre! Unbelievably diverse song writing which is what keeps them always fresh and timeless. As current today as they were then.

@K R The Rolling Stone *hated* Queen. Their reviews and articles about the band were full of hate, vitirol and ridiculously unfair criticism towards them.

I didn't know that part about hate. How they could perhaps some different bend was their favourite. Queen wrote songs in 16 different genres🤘🤪. No wonder that they don't know where to put them, because they are unique different ❤ Maiden has same formula songs on each album, Metallica same AC/DC you name them. They saund all like 1 long song

@@p.p.8022 About the "hate" part: I tried to post a link to a Rolling Stone article here but KZbin won't let me, so I just post the whole damn review!! 😅😅🤣 This one is from 1979, to Queen's Jazz album, but pretty much all RS reviews to Queen albums sound like that! -> "There’s no Jazz on Queen’s new record, in case fans of either were worried about the defilement of an icon. Queen hasn’t the imagination to play jazz-Queen hasn’t the imagination, for that matter, to play rock & roll. Jazz is just more of the same dull pastiche that’s dominated all of this British supergroup’s work: tight guitar/bass/drums heavy-metal clichés, light-classical pianistics, four-part harmonies that make the Four Freshmen sound funky and Freddie Mercury’s throat-scratching lead vocals. Anyway, it shouldn’t be surprising that Queen calls its album “jazz.” The guiding principle of these arrogant brats seems to be that anything Freddie & Company want, Freddie & Company get. What’s most disconcerting about their arrogance is that it’s so unfounded: Led Zeppelin may be as ruthless as medieval aristocrats, but at least Jimmy Page has an original electronic approach that earns his band some of its elitist notions. The only thing Queen does better than anyone else is express contempt. Take the LP’s opening song, “Mustapha.” It begins with a parody of a muezzin’s shriek and dissolves into an approximation of Arabic music. This is part of Queen’s grand design. Freddie Mercury is worldly and sophisticated, a man who knows what the muezzin sounds like. More to the point, you don’t. What trips the group up, as usual, is the music. “Mustapha” is merely a clumsy and pretentious rewrite of “Hernando’s Hideaway,” which has about as much to do with Middle Eastern culture as street-corner souvlaki. But it’s easy to ascribe too much ambition to Queen. “Fat Bottomed Girls” isn’t sexist-it regards women not as sex objects but as objects, period (the way the band regards people in general). When Mercury chants, in “Let Me Entertain You,” about selling his body and his willingness to use any device to thrill an audience, he isn’t talking about a sacrifice for his art. He’s just confessing his shamelessness, mostly because he’s too much of a boor to feel stupid about it. Whatever its claims, Queen isn’t here just to entertain. This group has come to make it clear exactly who is superior and who is inferior. Its anthem, “We Will Rock You,” is a marching order: you will not rock us, we will rock you. Indeed, Queen may be the first truly fascist rock band. The whole thing makes me wonder why anyone would indulge these creeps and their polluting ideas." (Rolling Stone, Issue 284)
