@timurkovacs6183 жыл бұрын
Rather stick on with quality neutral speakers. Trust me..
@phillee28143 жыл бұрын
No, you need to be there! Failing that, headphones give more bang for the buck, but if you are prepared to spend the money, REALLY good speakers are better - you can't feel the music throughout your body with headphones, which you can with a concert or high quality speakers. You can't beat the liver massage you get rom the lower frequencies, and which no headphones on earth can provide. If headphones were as good, they'd rent them out to concert goers. But sadly, such speakers (and the amp[s] to drive them) are hideously expensive to get the same clarity as a headset of even the up to $300 range. Basically, just add a zero for equal clarity. I've heard of people using a good woofer for the bass (soft cut off around middle C/C4/262Hz) and headphones to get the audio side (full range, no filter) and clarity at higher frequencies in order to get the feel and clarity at a lower price point, but haven't tried that trick myself. I guess it might work fairly well.

The Beatles made the guitar gently weep. Gilmour assaults your emotional center and makes the guitar cry out in the agony of the worst heartbreak you've ever had, but combining all the wonderful that came before the break, making it as beautiful as the most beautiful of sunsets. I still sometimes bite my arm, that I actually have vivid memories of being at one of the concerts on that tour, with a head full of shrooms and lungs filled with Mary Jane to boot, that didn't exactly make it any less mesmerizingly AMAZING! Cloudless night until "Braindamage" where clouds hid the moon at one of the "see you on the darkside of the moon" parts. They blew my fucking mind something fierce that beautiful night in Ames, IA.
@AliasMark693 жыл бұрын
I saw this same show in N.Y. 1994. The concert brochure said the stage is 120 feet wide. It takes a crew of 60 technicians three days to set up the entire lights and all. The concert schedule required that there had to be three entire crews to keep up. They leap frogged each other for 92 shows with 20 Trucks per crew and a total staff of 195. The tour cost the promoters $98.MILLION to put on, but the total profit was $260 MILLION. I have seen Pink Floyd 4 times. Nick Mason’s drumming is incredible and matches Gilmour’s guitar emotions while Richard Wright takes us on a Magic Carpet Ride of tones that form the foundation of it all.

Well done! Their live shows are insane. However, a bit of friendly advice from a lifetime Floyd fan. 1. Headphones are a must. 2. Their musicianship and lyricism is next-level elite. 3. They are very cerebral and deep. Their albums are ‘concept albums,’ meaning each song blends into the next to tell a larger story. The album ‘Dark Side of the Moon’ spent (I think) more time on the Billboard charts than any other album and is considered to be one of the greatest pieces of music ever made. Many can tell you where they were the first time they heard it. I would do a reaction vid where you listen to the whole album in one sitting. Trust me-you will be amazed. If you would like to try a stand alone track, listen to ‘Echoes’ live from Pompeii in I think 1972. Also incredible, but all their stuff is incredible. Great job!!

It is good to see young people getting into Pink Floyd, i've been a Floydy for nearly 50 years now, i would not have picked up a guitar if it wasn't for their song Wish You Were Here, i flew from Australia just for this concert. it was the best life experience musically, i've ever had. in the actual concert version of this the second solo by Dave Gilmour was three minutes longer. you can find it yourself cos if i put it up it will get blocked. your journey into Pink Floyd has just started. don't stop you won't be sorry. every album is a journey, and every track is another road along that journey

I called him…“The Master Of The Stratocaster” He smiled. I asked if I could shake both his hands that make such great guitar solos, he smiled bigger and said “Sure” and shock both hands at the same time, making a cross between us, I smiled HUGE. I asked him to describe his technique of playing guitar, he replied… “I strike a note, bend it, shake it and then release it”…. Yes, he does that quite well.

@phillee28143 жыл бұрын
You did well - it is criminal to break into a guitar solo, and a capital offence if it is David Gilmour! The light shows they put on were insane in their day, too. Contrary to popular belief, you don't need drugs to enhance any Pink Floyd show - they ARE the drug, the high, and the trip. It takes days to come down from a Pink Floyd gig, and then all you can think of is "when can I see them again?" I'm one of the little dots in the audience, 2nd tier (cheap seats!) about level with the sound desk on stage right (our left, looking at the stage). Eveyone had been a little curious about the huge mirror ball above the centre of the arena, but as it wasn't used through the rest of the show, we pretty much forgot about it, or assumed it had been left from some other event or was hung for a future one. The lasers were apparently the most powerful in the world by a considerable margin at the time, an experimental type made in Canada, iirc, and the only ones of their kind - when PInk Floyd heard of them, they'd said "We have to have them" and leased the lot. And I think most who were paying any attention to the light show (some people had their eyes closed, lost in the music) were awe-struck by the circular lighting truss (which must have weighed several tonnes) rotating from vertical to horizontal right above the stage to form a corona. Everyone had thought it was fixed until then. Then when the huge array of super-troupers opened up on that mirror ball, it was like a star going supernova in our faces! Of course, it then opened up like a flower blooming, as nothing as simple as a mirror ball would do for Pink Floyd, even if it was the largest and most highly illuminated one ever (which it apparently was). But the main thing is the music - you don't go to the National Gallery to examine the picure frames. Most guitarists walk on stage, plug their guitar into a pedal board and amp, and put on good and even great performances. David Gilmour walks on stage, plugs his guitar into his heart and your soul, and uses it to just channel to emotion right into you. The closing solo has been frequently cited as the greatest of all time, and I can't think of another in the same league. I attended the same college as David Gilmour and Syd Barrett did, and as a result, I'm able to make nominations for the Vice Chancellor's Awards each year. Every year I nominate David for two - "Contribution to culture" and "Lifetime achievement", and will do so every year unti he has them both. There is nobody from the University (which it now forms part of) more deserving. Not even close. I'd hate for him to end up with only a commemorative stone in the wall next to that for Syd Barrett.

Pink Floyd changed my life. David Gilmour never was a shredder, he never was a technical demonstration guy. his guitar playing is quite simple BUT a guitarist that makes a guitar sound like that, and cry, so much feeling in his notes so much expression so much emotions, and the tone, everything about him is unique. I love that man
