My take on Nothing New... it's about her career. She has spoken before about females in the music industry having to reinvent themselves to stay relevant. When she was 18, she thought she had her career all planned out, but by the time she was 22, she wasn't sure which way her career was going. Was she staying in country music or should she go into pop music. Was her novelty as a cute 18 yr old country artist going to wear off? The lyrics..."I know someday I'm gonna meet her it's a fever dream. The kind of radiance you have at 17, she'll know the way and then say she got the map from me"... I think she's meaning, the new "IT" country singer, who modeled her career after the way Taylor did. I wish you will listen to this song again, but this time, listen to it from the perspective of a music artist questioning her longevity.

OMG that makes total sense now you said it... I remember in the documentary "Miss Americana" on Netflix, she said women in the industry have to reinvent themselves all the time to be successful (which is less the case for men). Thanks for sharing your theory Bruce.

Taylor let Little Big Town sing Better Man, it is very well known. Also, she let Sugarland do Babe, again another hit. Sugarland did a music video and Taylor was in it.

For me, The Very First Night is the unspoken transition from Red to 1989.You know it really connects the relationship with Harry

Love your reactions and lyric interpretations! So many lyrical parallels are happening and it’s so fun discovering them. ✨ I think “The Very First Night” is about Harry. There’s mentions of hotel and polaroid pictures. One Direction has a song called “Perfect” co-written by H and I think it speaks about the same experiences in his POV. Also, as we know “Out of the Woods” is also about H. There it mentions polaroid and the lyrics “we were built to fall apart, then fall back together”. 😳 Looking forward to more reaction videos from you. New subscriber here! ❤️

Forever Winter is about one of her’s high school best friends who ended up killing himself :( she even acknowledge this accepting an award back in 2010 i think
