That’s the best version ever. Alex Lifeson does what he wants, when he wants and customizes any instrument any way he wants, cause he’s King Lerxst of Schmengland.🤣🤘🖖✌️🎸🎸🎸

Man its unfortunate you never got a chance to see them live. They were soooooo good live. It took it to another level seeing them live. Its hard to explain how impressive it was to see them on stage.

I was able to see Rush twice in Milwaukee on the S & A tour (2007 with my little brother) and then in 2008, when I bought my son to his first Rush concert. "Ghost of a Chance" may be their best song of the 90s. Beautiful!

Yeah, you can see him really feeling it. Such a goofy character (which I love), but when it’s time to let the magic flow, you can see the passion on his face. 👍🏼

One of my top 5 Rush songs for sure. It just has such great composition and pacing. I saw them ply this on the Roll The Bones tour in the UK about a billion years ago now and Alex busted out an incredible solo that was completely improvised at the end of the track. The crowd went absolutely mental. Such a memory but yeah, live, these guys were nothing short of spectacular.

Alex is so busy ..he has to be .,that's no mean feat as a guitarist live ..basically playing 2 guitar parts and the pedal work switching from rock to a blues sound and reverb ..his feet are as busy as his hands ...perfection justin

It warms my aged heart to see a new Rush fan. My addiction started in 1976. My uncle let me use his 2112 album (vinyl). It wasn't long until l got my own. I put played it until the grooves was worn out of course I replaced it. It has been a wonderful ride.

I was lucky enough to see the Snakes and Arrows tour twice. Once in Detroit and the Joe Louis Arena, second time at Pine Knob/DTE Music Theatre. Both shows were straight up fantastic. Still have the poster, t-shirt and sweatshirt from those tours too.

My favorite song on the album, this is Rush being Rush, Geddie singing, slapping that bass and working the pedals, Alex making that guitar sing and Neil being Neil. This album doesn't get enough love, imo it's one of their best.

I took my then 16 year old musician son to this tour in Charlotte NC. I remember it well because part way through the show my son asked me what's wrong dad? Up to that point they were playing a bunch of Snakes & Arrows stuff etc and I was basically sitting on my hands. I love Natural Science and my son does as well and as soon as the first cords of it started it all changed lol. Great experience with my son I'll never forget. He got to see my band...

I'm very surprised that you didn't bring up the "hot chicks" behind Geddy 😆 That was a joke that the Roadies made because there are never had any hot chicks rushing the stage lol! Another fun fact during this tour Alex put Barbie dolls down at his foot pedals so when he looked down at the audience he saw girls lol!

Geddy could not move away from his mic stand due to the amount of sound triggering he had to do with his feet. This song was very difficult to perform live because Geddy had to time all the keyboard parts exactly

That guitar is crazy expensive if you can find one. The official Gibson signature ones sold fast. Epiphone then partnered with Alex to make a cheaper version looked exactly like the Gibson and had the tremolo, Floyd rose, piezo and looked the same. Went on sale for about $850 and sold out before they even shipped. I tried to get one for my son as he plays guitar as well as bass but couldn’t get it. They sell used for over $1200 now and epiphone hasn’t rereleased in since the first run Ironically, a decent percentage of the first run epiphones had issues and people had to send back to fix…..hope that wasn’t the case on the Gibson one which retailed for like 6k plus!

@@debilarge That is a lot of money she has into guitars but those Gibson's will likely continue to increase in value. So will the Epiphone one. If I ever see one selling near retail, I am grabbing it.

Gibson would put Bigsby tremolo bars on Les Pauls back in the 50s and 60s. The guitar player in my band had one factory installed on his ‘58 les Paul in the ‘70s. (Yes it was a real ‘58 burst. Only guitar he ever owned, his Dad bought it new in ‘58 in a music store in Oklahoma, he died about 10 years ago and it’s probably in his wife’s closet. I’m sure she doesn’t realize it could fund her retirement if she sold it). Anyway, Bigsbys we’re common on Les Pauls but modern whammy bars not as much though I have seen them. I of course prefer the term ‘Jiggle Stick’

There are some vintage Gibson purists who think it's sacrilege to put a Floyd Rose tremolo on a Les Paul because it's not vintage, but it's honestly the holy grail of combos. Seems like every time Gibson or Epiphone releases one they discontinue it or it's a limited run like the previous $800 Alex Lifeson signature sunburst model (looks similar to the one in this video and has a piezo) or the PlusTop Pro/FX. Lucky the current Ruby Epiphone Alex Lifeson signature model seems like it will be a standard production model going forward even if it's missing the piezo which the previous Viceroy Brown model had, but it blows my mind that this Les Paul Floyd Rose combo is not more popular. I think it should be a standard model from Gibson/Epiphone regardless of the Lifeson name, but that's just me. I saw Rush on the S&A and Time Machine tour and let me tell you, the Les Paul with the Floyd Rose combo sounds incredible especially when you add the versatility of the piezo system which also sounds great. It's all you could need in a guitar (but don't count on Epiphone releasing one with a piezo system anytime soon. They chose to go with cheaper unskilled labor and the piezo has proven to be a bit too much for them to handle and it eats into Epiphone's profits). At least we get a tremolo with the current model, but no piezo...so they took value away and they raised the price on top of it. $1,300 now. And extra $500 even though it costs less to make? Interesting. Unless they're using actual rubies, that price doesn't make sense lol. I doubt they're paying Alex THAT much more this time. I think they just want to become the Apple of guitars and charge whatever they want. But seriously, although the Ruby finish looks great, the Viceroy Brown finish is a work of art and they should bring it back. I'd recommend buying one of the discontinued models before ever buying one of the new models from them. The best value Les Paul with a "licensed" Floyd Rose I could find is the Xaviere Pro555 for like 300 bucks. Multiple color choices and it's "kwikswap" ready so you can easily swap between their other affordable GFS pickups with no soldering required.

It's a nice song, but I'm not a huge fan of this live version. Geddy's voice had changed enough since it was recorded, and Neil's kit (the snare, especially) is overpowering the front line. Plus it's just an odd choice for a "rock" setlist.

Because Alex had a custom Les Paul with the Floyd Rose and a Piezo Bridge and Coil Splitting Humbuckers and it sounded so good Gibson made a signature model with all those modifications a couple of years ago, and then earlier this year Epiphone released a less inexpensive version. Even though I'm a bass player, I really wanted one but they were gone before they hit the sale floor.
