This track is criminally underrated. Alex’s work in the slow feel sections is sublime.

Listen to the live version though. It blows the recorded version away. But it is in my Top 10 Rush tunes.

That was a Rush song where the emotional content rose to the top. Those types of songs, songs about relationships and human, heartfelt longing, are in the minority in Rush's canon. But that's what makes them all the more special. Rush never fails to hit the mark. They always convey exactly what the song, based on Neil's soulful lyrics, needs to say. Some other songs that have that emotional content emphasized are "Bravado", "The Pass", "Middletown Dreams", "Afterimage", "Tears", "Open Secrets" and "Losing It". There are others too, but that's a good list to start with. Excellent songs.

Mr. Munroe: Thanks for helping share not only Rush's greatest song, but one of the most underrated songs of all time. The guitar work alone is from another dimension. To be played at maximum volume. Keep up the great work!

Just proving why the 90's was an amazing decade for music. This is one of the few Rush songs I remember receiving airplay on the actual radio in NY before they were purely considered "classic rock".

With these lyrics, Neil offers a pragmatic approach to the concept of love. One little change in either's timeline could have resulted in them not meeting or doing so under different circumstances. Very easily, each could have found love with someone else. He proposes that love is not magic formed by destiny, fate, eternal love, astrology, religion, or anything mystical. Yes, it is special, but not magic. It requires work, respect, admiration, desire, and all kinds of other emotions and compromises.
