"Ghost Division" is the tale of the 7th Panzer Division under the command of General Erwin Rommel and the invasion of France. They moved so fast that for large parts of the invasion, neither friend nor foe knew where they were. Sabaton isn't political. They make songs about different events in history. Granted, most of their songs are about WW II. Fun Fact: Rommel's armored tactics and strategies are still taught in military forces around the world, including here in the U.S. Whatever else he was, Rommel was a genius at armored warfare.

After each Sabaton Song, a 3-5 minute trip to Wikipedia really helps. I learned more history from a couple of Sabaton albums than I did in college. Ok, so since Every Sabaton song is about a historic battle, or person you may want to get the history first. Try it once, and see the difference. Case in point: the song 40:1 is a song about the Battle of Wizna, September 1939 ~700 polish infantry held back 40,000 German troops for 3 days in one hellacious battle. Speaking for myself, the history behind these songs makes them more intense and meaningful.

Don't ever rely on wikipedia as it can be changed by anyone.

Sabaton History Channel is far more reliable than wikipedia.

Check out Sabaton 40:1 Live at Woodstock-- it is about the German invasion of Poland in 1939 that started WWII. In a little Polish town Wizna, there were less than 1000 Polish soldiers against 40,000 Germans and the Poles held them for 3 days!

You should read through the lyrics after watching the video so you understand what it's about a bit more.

Sabaton have a history channel on KZbin where they run down the facts of their songs. If you want to check out new material from their coming album you can check out Fields of Verdun, Red Baron, Great War. Other older great songs Wich is more high tempo is Nightwitches, Lions from the north, or epic sounding Carolus Rex.

It’s a good idea to watch the lyric video so you can get a better idea of what the song is about. The Great War, Wehrmacht and Panzerkampf are really good Sabaton songs as well

They just released a new album yesterday! Check out “82nd All The Way” and “Devil Dogs” for some songs about America in WW1, though you should eventually check out the whole album. It’s awesome!

You might wanna check this from their latest 2019 album "The Great War": SABATON - Bismarck (Official Music Video) kzbin.info/www/bejne/pYe6dpVjdtlrr8U Apart the song itself, you'll see an awesome video, to say the least. P.S. Their drummer, Hannes Van Dahl, is married to Floor Jansen from Nightwish & they have a little daughter, Freja, who will one day be an amazing singing drummer, given the genes of her parents, should she choose to be a musician as she grows up.

Hey cowboy, nice reaction! If you head over to the Sabaton website, you'll find all lyrics and historical story/facts about each song. "Ghost Division" for example comes from the "Art of war" album. www.sabaton.net/discography/ Also, while I'm at it, check out "A liftetime in war (Livstid i krig)" (the lyrics in the Swedish and English versions have a different meaning) and "The Caroleans prayer" from the "Carolus Rex" album. Only Sabaton can make the Lord's prayer sound metal! Personally I prefer the Swedish version of the album, sounds way more badass imho.
