The song goes from soft and somewhat simple to absolutely Epic!

Fun fact- She does all her arrangements herself This performance especially highlights that aspect of her as she seamlessly rearranged the song into a complete cinematic experience starting with the calm to the wars and chaos that followed, and back to a calm that represents the end to the conflicts. It also signifies the hope of reconcilation and peaceful continuity.

Every detail including her facial expression, hand and body gesture and so on is perfectly and beautifully expressed, I think.

This Arirang performance is like watching a musical.👸🏽🧚♀️💃
I love it~!! ARIRANG is a word of Korean's heart contained all the despair & hope, wars & peace, sorrow & joy, misery & happiness, conflict of interest that Koreans have experienced since they settled on the Korea peninsula far away from the Altai Mountains(Ural Mountains, Алтай, Altay) where their ancestors lived 5,000 years ago. Koreans have a lot of Arirang songs with their own unique rhythm and tempo, and a beat that includes three beats. Arirang Alone's lyrics contain the hearts of Koreans who live in South & North Korea apart from each other but who always wish for unification. The water of Mt.Baekdu(The northernmost in North Korea) and the water of Mt.Halla(The southernmost in South Korea) flows to Dokdo(The Lonely island at the easternmost end of the Korean Peninsula, where the sun rises first) finally meet together. And Let's meet the sunrise together(unified Korean peninsula).

Didn't it start around Silla era?

@@baekdutiger631 Korea is the only East Asian country that is separated from the Altai Mountains. Of course, it includes some Mongolians in northern China and others who migrated to the southern tip of the Japanese Islands during the Baekje Period in Korea. Korea is the only country that uses the language that their ancestors used in the Altai Mountains 5,000 years ago. It is Hangul that made it easy for anyone to learn as King Sejong restored the language of their ancestors that almost disappeared. The people of the Altai Mountains are separated Korea, Kazakhstan, Hungary, Kirkistan, parts of Russia and some European countries. Although their language has changed a lot since they went through many invasions by other countries, their roots in history are always the same as Korea. For a long time, China has distorted Korea and other countries history and transformed the language and history of their ancestors into Chinese history. The Chinese government never discloses information about Chun-Ji-In(sky n land n human) letters found in relics found throughout China. It's the letters of Korean ancestors older than shell-and-bone charactors. But someday, if Korea were to reunite, they would see the vast land around Lake Baikal in Russia, the remains of their ancestors in Kazakhstan and the language of their ancestors on the relics.
@willykim58016 жыл бұрын
@@baekdutiger631 What matters most is their language. Their ancestor's language from 5,000 years ago is phonogram language, which is made by symbols of Chun-Ji-In(sky n land n human). Their language makes it possible to pronounce all the sounds of the world. And Its very scientific, making Koreans vocal cords genetically stronger and gave tem a sense of rhythm and beats including three beats and unique tempo. The strong vocal cords and sense of rhythm in Dimash, Kazakhstan because he is descended from the Altai ancestors. XD One out of every 5~10 Koreans shows their incredible vocal skills when watching Korea's common street karaoke video uploaded to KZbin. The reason is because of the language they use. I just wish Koreans will not forget the roots of their true history when the period of japanese colonialism Jap government burned them down and turned them into mythology.

Glad to see that you appreciated Sohyang's cover of the Arirang Alone, a traditional folk song. It was rearranged as well. This song has a lot of historical and cultural context beyond the awe-inspiring melody and phenomenal voice from Sohyang. In Willy Kim's comment below, you can see all the geographical and historical references. Just want to add that one interpretation of the sudden dramatic turn of the melody represents how the havoc and pain of the wartime Korean people endured during the invasions by its powerful neighboring countries in history. The lyrics of the song point to a common wish by the Korean for reunification one day. Perhaps this tidbit can add to your enjoyment of her performance. Don't think you have reacted to Sohyang's 2018 masterpiece "You Raise Me Up" (originally by Gosh Groban) yet. Take a listen to experience how Sohyang re-interpreted it with her personal take at kzbin.info/www/bejne/qpbCfWylm82Iqpo

this song is kind of The Unofficial anthem of the South Korean people. It has to do with becoming one heart with the North Korean people. As a free Korean Nation.

Hehe...listening to Sohyang emote in her native language is a sight of its own. Don't get me wrong, most of her English covers/performances are immaculate, it's just that I feel she is at her absolute best when singing in Korean. A couple of suggestions for her, I think you might like them. Really though, she has at least 20-30 live performances that are simply superlative, you cannot go wrong whatever you choose from her.. "Everyone" :. vimeo.com/249195615 - Sohyang is a gospel singer and she really brings us to church on this one. This is quoted by her to be the most demanding performance she ever had to give (from a vocal perspective), and I think you will understand why when you see it. "Where are you" :. vimeo.com/254194327 - My personal favorite from her, this is a live interpretation of a old sad ballad about a break-up. Sohyang makes you personally feel exactly what the lyrics say. It's a pretty weird and emotional experience (at least for me). Gave vimeo links for the above, they have english subs added and also show the uncut original performances she gave. Keep the goodness coming, cheers..C:

Thank you for the review of ARIRANG. ARIRANG contains a series of mixed emotions, called as a.k.a "HAN" in Korean, such as sadness, happiness, hardness, bittersweet, anger, melancholy and wish/hope all in one as a accumulated blackhole. Since Korea had been invaded by China and Japan for last five thousand years, they underwent so many tragedies being slaved, kidnapped, raped, and murdered. In spite of these, Koreans could overcome against internal and external issues by hardworking while being formed as song formation when they were working. This why ARIRANG feels like a bomb of so many kinds of emotions. I do appreciate to those countries saved Korea from Japan's illegal occupation/colonization. We could not see the light of independence if those countries did not help us against Japan. Thank you, world. Thank you USA.
