I loved Kat's suggestion that Beverley Crusher has a closet full of Wesley's terrible Season 1 sweaters. I also think Wesley is great in this episode, having that coming of age experience of coming back from "space college" to find out all the adults aren't the infallible heroes he used to think they were. Only this being Star Trek, the grownups in his life are going to space sex resorts, getting addicted to orgasm games and being waaay to into chocolate sundaes.

In all the years I've rewatched this episode, I'd never thought of Etana's head that way! I'm probably going to think of that all the time now. Also, never mind Data being the one person the game doesn't work on, how did it work on Geordi?! He doesn't see the same way as everyone else. Anyway, I loved the whole Wesley love story. It was really cute.

Stimulating the pleasure center of the brain never bothered me since it was probably the easiest way to addict someone without drugs. It's like the wireheads in Larry Niven's Known Space stories. I wanted a side note from Wesley about learning some of these tactics during the Angosian incident, or pulling out the old Elway subspace transporter device and pulling the Space Irish tactics from “The High Ground”. I still wonder how they got Geordi, since he’s blind. If Guinan was on board, I wonder if she would’ve noticed the strangeness of the game itself. The writers did a great job to not upset fans, who wouldn’t want to see another episode of Wesley saving the ship. So thankfully Data showing up to save the day made it better.

Oh man, this is one of my all-time favourite episodes. The Wesley/Robin romance is probably the first one that _really_ hooked me (I think I was still too young, 6, for The Dauphin to have made that kind of impact, and it was also more of a puppy-love type thing), and still one that makes my heart flutter while watching, particularly the goodbye hug at the end. I was almost 9 when this aired so it probably played a big part in the development of my romantic awareness. I just want someone to look at me the way Robin looked at Wesley. Ashley Judd is such an underrated actor and I'm sad she's not in more stuff. Given that she's in her 50s now, I think she's probably a victim of that stupid Hollywood thing where any woman over 40 is just unacceptable for almost any role unless it's a grandmother. I wonder if Alex Kurtzman could be persuaded to create a slice-of-life drama focusing on Wesley and Robin in their middle-aged years as important Starfleet engineers. Ooh, I would watch that so _hard_ Honestly, this is the first time I've ever heard someone interpret the game in a sexual way, I've always seen it as a purely drug-type reaction. Wesley refers to it as a "psychotropic" addiction, which is a term used for drugs that alter behavior, moods, thoughts, or perception. The faces of people experiencing it don't, to me, look anything like an "oh face", they look like stoned people focusing on something we can't see. Perhaps that's why I don't have a problem with that part of the episode.

Lol, that alien's forehead does look like a butt. She's literally Captain Butthead. I guess I'd never seen the addiction part as sexual at all. I grew up in the '80s and "Don't do DRUGS, kids!" was already everywhere, and yeah, I was a teenager and hormonal at the time, but this was before I knew about the association between chocolate and sex. (So I was just like, "Okay.. Troi *really* likes chocolate. I don't find it that great, but whatever..") I think this ep was less popular because it was another Wesley Saves the Entire Ship (Again..) story and mostly notable for Ashley Judd's guest appearance, but she and Wheaton do exhibit pretty good chemistry and, looking back, their interaction probably was the best part of the ep.
@jerodast Жыл бұрын

Cringe factors and cheesiness of the episode aside, I still give credit to the writers of this episode for basically showing the addiction to smart phone app games: Everyone walking around, zombie like, focused on their screen with the addictive lights and sounds. But while Forbes apparently put this episode in the "alternative top ten" episode of the series (Which is a weird way to say that they consider it to be in the top 20 episodes without being in the top 10!?), I have indeed always thought it was one of the lesser episodes of the post-season 2 era; but I'll admit to being biased by not being a fan of the "Return of the boy-wonder" angle of the episode, compounded by the teenage romance aspect which my teenage self in the 80s did not care for (Which is less of a factor now)

This sounds weird but about 4 years ago about 10 of my friends all got involved in yoga and or crossfit at the same time. It was weird because whenever I saw them, they would talk about yoga (or crossfit or whatever) and they would be gung ho and they all said that I should join their studio or come do crossfit with them. It became uncomfortable. Of course when I was in my late 20s I got involved with sort of a culty group and they really pushed us to go out and invite people. When I quit I was really embarrassed.
