Also yeah I don't blame you. I left my comment before starting the video actually lol. I forget how long the first arc of SAO is, but I didn't really care for the stuff after it. Basically the first arc of SAO 1 and the first arc of SAO 2 were the ones I liked. Watching past those episodes did, to me, feel like more of a chore. I just didn't like the Alfheim stuff. I forget if the Aincrad arc of SAO is 10 or 14 episodes long, but I definitely preferred the first 10 myself. Personally I think SAO 2's first arc is the best. Sinon's not only the best girl, but the most complex/deep character who gets the most development. I'd compare that arc to the Hunger Games, because apparently the writer is a fan of the Hunger Games.

This is a good abridged but it gets better later and is much better then the actual show. Helsing ultimate is another great abridged (its the team four star guys so expect that quality) there is a few other abridged that are good too

And YES! That's my problem with Asuna too, and why I don't really like the pairing even though I respect Kirito being loyal and having an established relationship. Asuna was pretty fierce and badass, but they changed her character into a stereotypical housewife, with her cooking ability being super played up and emphasized. I loved their relationship at first, and still do in those first episodes. It's very sweet, especially when she came to his rescue in a fury. I'm just a sucker for romance, but after that... That's also why I prefer Sinon. She did develop feelings for Kirito, but it was over quite a bit of time. She's even more fiery than Asuna was, and with more attitude. Not in a heavy abusive tsundere kind of way, though. She had her own personal demons to deal with, so her feelings for Kirito took time to develop as her character developed, and those feelings were more like... background subtle. Sadly they don't show much of her past her arc, because she's not the main duo, but when they do show her, she more or less maintains her character, and in the games. Asuna on the other hand... maintains the same character that I also don't care for.

I'll admit that I haven't read the LN, but info on Sinon in the Alicization arc (which is LN only so far) says she did not abandon her feelings for him, but put them in the back of her mind for Asuna's sake. So that would be kind of a weird thing to do if she never had any feelings to begin with.

Also given the very trend of this anime, I find the claim that this prominent female character who spent so much time with Kirito has no feelings dubious at best. I'm gonna look into this.

Ah yes. I forgot about this. This is considered canon, btw. The gaiden shows a spoiler for later about how all the girls (ALL of them) have accepted that they can never be with Kirito unless Asuna allows it (meaning that being with him is something they've thought about and wanted). So they all get together (including Asuna) and use some machine from Alicization to spend the equivalent of 4 years together with Kirito. And looking through everything, it seems like what happens between them in the anime happens in the LN too. So I don't see where that idea comes from.

Yep there's quite a few things in the LN that actually more strongly reinforce her feelings than even the anime does. In Vol. 17, she wears a pendant made from the EKG monitor that saved Kirito's life when Shinkawa tried to stab him, and she acts embarrassed around the others about it. In the volume, Alice also called Sinon her "love rival", and Sinon didn't deny it. Then there was the whole bit of Sinon dealing with her feelings and the fact that Asuna is in the way. Her words to Alice were, "... You see, I... like Kirito. I like him very much. *Asuna feels the same way* . And there are many more who like him." Right there she's saying she likes him, in the same way that Asuna likes him, and that there are many more who like him the same way (Rika, Sugu, Keiko, etc.). This is all in context with Alice declaring Sinon her love rival and Sinon not saying anything to deny it. So you could say that it's more the anime that has her showing less feelings for Kirito. She was never as open or overt with them as she is in Vol. 17 lol. Mainly because the anime hasn't gotten there yet. And then you have the games which, while separate from the anime/LN, do still derive from the source material for the characters. While not as obvious about her feelings as the others, she's more overt about them in the games. The games aren't canon, but all of the characters' attitudes, personalities, quirks, traits, and feelings are derived from their actual selves. The difference is that they've been cranked up more for fanservice. But they wouldn't do it with a character if they had no feelings, or have them do something out of character.

Am not going to lie but sword art online is not my type either so.. Am with u Raven even do l seen 2 seasons of that anime, after that it began to start about fan service and that's when l stopped mostly coz at first it was a teen show but then it almost turned into a type of inappropriate adult show and then the plot was getting way slower to move on.. so yea it's not the best anime but alteast it's something..

Was this made by teamfourstar? I've never seen sword art online anime. I'm someone who would hate on 2010's anime but would lost his shit over early 2000's anime. I know most people nowadays like anything fresh and new but I'll stick to oldies but goldies. I'll stick to your dragon balls content from now on. This seems like virtual world type a thing, it reminds me a lot of Runescape and other MMORPG games. Neat concept, had I been 10 all over again, I'd probably lose my head over this but that's 15 years too late. I'm not total weeb when it comes to anime, I mostly watch it to reminiscent a simpler time :)

after the first 3 eps kawahara did what he always does. he threw everything hes written so far away and made shit up as he went on. one of the worst writers ive ever seen but people like what he does for some reason. and neither me nor he himself can understand why or how.

I have mixed feelings about SAO abridged. Though I wanna put it out there that I do love the fuck out of it. For a while I thought it was better than DBZA, but I've come to appreciate the amount of careful writing and care for the story DBZA has. However, I love SAO abridged. It made me check out the original anime after seeing a few episodes, and therein lies the problem. I like the original a lot, which is obvious from the content of my channel lol. I have seen more romance anime than I can count, and a lot of them deal with a lot of pussyfooting or drama between the two love interests, drama born from stupidity for the sake of dragging things out. SAO doesn't do that. The relationship isn't immediate nor does it take forever. And unlike a lot of protagonists in romance anime, Kirito's not a perv or an idiot. He's nice, caring, competent, and protective. He's one of few male protagonists who have actually done anything to make girls falling for him believable. A lot of protagonists will get the attention of any girl within a 10 foot radius without doing much of anything. With each girl, Kirito's displayed at least something. And while it's not a harem anime, it does have a lot of the same tropes. However, unlike other harem anime, the relationship here is established. Kirito's not spineless and indecisive. In quite a few harem anime, the main guy will be just that and cause pain for all the girls involved because he can't/won't make up his mind. Here Kirito shows to be decisive and loyal. Even though Kirito x Asuna isn't the pairing I prefer, I appreciate Kirito being a loyal upstanding man to her. That and the relationship they shared was sweet and actually was established before the last episode. In some romance anime, the relationship is never fully established. I also appreciate that Kirito's different from a lot of anime characters. Instead of having an over-the-top personality like Kamina or Naruto, and having like one or two defining traits, he's more like a normal human being. All of us are a mix of many personality traits in moderation. Kirito has a lot of traits. He just doesn't overly exert one. Overall he's very nice and kind. Some could say "too perfect", but if being a decent human being is "too perfect", then those people have a very low bar for what a decent human being is. At the same time, though, Kirito can have a short temper. He's gotten pissed and hostile very fast depending on what buttons are pushed, and he'll behave rude and cold if he's displeased, like whenever he has to deal with his government "buddy" (forget his name). He's also displayed fear and regret, and has even had character growth given that he originally preferred to stay by himself because... well some people just don't like crowds and he also didn't want the responsibility of looking after others, but now he's got a whole group of people he does stuff with, and has accepted it. He's also shown to be cocky, a bit of a flirt, a smartass, and an asshole. The whole little conversation he had with Sinon before his first 1v1 round in the BoB preliminaries, when her "friend" was sitting there with them. She was being cold with him still, but said "Make sure you make it to the finals, so I can kick your butt myself", and with a cocky tone, he called her out on the true meaning of her words and said "If you're inviting me, I'll have to make sure I'm there". But that whole conversation he was teasing her. And it felt natural. Guess that's what I mean. Kirito's relationship with Asuna, the attraction others feel to him, Kirito's general behavior... it all feels natural. It's not as entertaining as an over-the-top character, but I understand, like, and respect it still. He definitely has a personality, considering there's a lot of traits in him to mention. People with no personality have no traits you can point out. Tbh, characters who are mainly defined by one trait, even though it's over-the-top exaggerated, I'd say have less personality. They are not as complex. They come off as very two-dimensional. Like abridged Kirito, he's mainly a stereotypical troll asshole you'd come across while playing an online game, most likely as an antithesis to Kirito being nice in the original. It IS funny and entertaining, but it doesn't make him more complex. And also, now that I look back at it, it makes Asuna and Liz developing any feelings for him feel VERY forced in the abridged. Not natural or believable at all. Mainly I dislike the mentality that this series is good because it fixed the original. This abridged is good on its own merits. The original doesn't really need to be fixed... except maybe the Alfheim stuff. I mean, I do get what they were going for when making the bad guys basically rapists to show how bad they were, because I appreciate that they acknowledge rape as being among the WORST things you can do to someone (along with murder and torture, which rape is a form of, because they violate a human's rights in some way and usually destroy them as people). I mean, for a time, both rape AND murder were punishable by death. It is extremely horrible... though they kinda overdid it by making two main bad guys rapists. And while Kirito's powerful, it's in a setting where that kind of thing is believable. In the two SAO games I play, I'm often considered that "untouchably good" by other players. I've made discoveries and done things in Hollow Fragment that redefined the meta, and even in Hollow Realization I've gotten comments from people saying "You redefined how I play this game". So yeah, it's possible to be OP in a video game, but he's far from perfect. He was the closest to untouchably perfect in the Aincrad arc, but he still made mistakes and had help with stuff. Against Hethcliff at the end, he fucked up by activating Eclipse because Heathcliff designed all sword skills and knew their weaknesses, which caused him to technically lose, having Asuna bale him out and still resulting in a double kill after Heathcliff impaled Kirito first. He's just exceptionally skilled in the game, and he was also high level, which in my experience does make a lot of difference, even if you're Lv170 against a group of Lv140s. There's other anime that have had even more ridiculously OP characters with powers that come from asspulls or just are lazily written in (Looking at Ichigo, because if it exists in Bleach, Ichigo has it), and ones who don't make mistakes or ever get or caught off guard. In their own way, they're fun to watch too. For me, it's just fun to see a character who's competent and doesn't spend most of a fight being tossed around and then making a sudden comeback at the end when they realistically should've already died/lost but have infinite plot stamina (Naruto), to where it doesn't feel like much of a personal victory for the main character. tl;dr SAO gets a lot of undeserved shit, and is often accused of things that simply aren't true.

Though again I wanna be clear that I love SAO abridged and think it's hilarious. It's in my top 3 favorite abridged (meanwhile SAO itself isn't actually in my top 5 favorite anime), along with DBZA and Code MENT. This Kirito, while not a character I'd hang out with in a first person kind of relationship, is hilariously entertaining from a 3rd person viewer perspective xD And you'll see later some brilliant concepts SWE brings into the story xP "We must save my family!"
