It is a heartbreaking line! It's a bit unfair to JG though. He introduced her to his sister and mother and he met her family within the first 2 months of their relationship. She met and hung out with his friends. He wasn't keeping her a secret from anyone he actually cared about.

@emmavink6 ай бұрын
@@wonderlaund I don't quite agree. She did say that he said she was too young. I think what he meant that the age difference of them specifically at that specific time just created two very different experiences of the same relationship, if that makes sense? I feel like from all the lyrics, she went in super hard in those first two months and he just didn't expect it. I think he put it down to age, but really, I think it's just who Taylor is. She goes in super hard, super fast. I think that is sadly why she's been hurt so many times. She also said that bit about him only dating girls her age after her...but that isn't true if you look at JG's dating history. He is dating someone younger now, but before and after Taylor, he's also dated women older than himself...so that was also an extreme feeling of hers at the time.

He wasn't gaslighting her. She made it seem like that in the short movie, but if you think about the things he actually did, they weren't meant badly. She said he kept her a secret... He didn't he introduced her to his mother and sister. He met her father and her family. She said all her lovers after him stayed her age. That isn't true either. Yes, he has since dated women her age as well... But before and after Taylor, he dated women older than he was too. He never tried to pretend that they hadn't been together. He just didn't feel as intensely about it as she did in those first 2-3 months. When he did begin feeling more and tried to rekindle the relationship, it was too later for her. She'd already grieved the loss. It's a heartbreaking song because he didn't love her as much as she did him right in the beginning. Just because he was enjoying it, doesn't mean he had the exact same feelings about it that she did. He definitely fked up a bunch tho. Not going to her 21st bday was horrible. He wasn't a bad person. He was just a terrible boyfriend to her.

They like to compare artist and tear down others because they don't sound like their favorite. It's stupid, but that's just people for you. Taylor's voice is a lot more simple and she's not constantly doing high notes and rifts or whatever, but she's good. She's worked and worked on her craft and has gotten immensely better at it with age.

The part that always gets to me is when he claims to have broken up with her because she is "too young," which puts all of the blame on her and is something she can't change, and then continues to date women her age. just some back story: all too well was first written for her album 'red' which came out in 2012. the song is well over 5 minutes but she slipped up in an interview and said that the original song that she's written is 10 mins long and since then the swifties have hounded her for years to release the original 10 min version. she released red (taylor's version) a re-recording of the 2012 album as a part of process of re-recording her first 6 albums. on that album she released the 10 min version and it's the longest song to ever go #1. about the lore: the song was written about jake gyllenhal. she was 20 and he was 29 when they started dating. the issue with jake was he never thought taylor was a "serious" artist as he is a serious actor. he kind of downplayed her and made her feel small partly also due to his seniority in age. he also famously didn't attend her 21st birthday party which corresponds to the lyric "they said its supposed to be fun turning 21" and wrote another song about it called 'the moment i knew'. jake was kind of shitty to her and she did tell how jake still is. she said "i'll get older but your lovers stay my age" taylor is 33 now, she's gotten older but jake is still dating girls in their early 20's. he's 42 now and still dating jeanne cadieu who is 26 💀 taylor read him good 😭

The lyrics about “willing him to come” and her dad saying “it’s supposed to be fun turning 21” is about Jake standing her up on her 21st birthday. She did a whole song about that party called “The Moment I Knew” on RED. For clarification, there is an album called RED, which has a song on it called Red (great song- very up tempo). All Too Well was on the same album, thus all the red references. She sings “loving him was red” in the song Red.

Watching men discover how great Taylor is is my new favorite thing! Keep up the good work guys! Also, Taylor likes to put lyric videos to her songs on her page! Y’all should definitely watch the music video w Dylan O’Brien and Sadie Sink. Taylor directed it. It won 9 awards, including VMAs and a GRAMMY. Y’all got to remember: Taylor Lautner was at 17, John at 19, and Jake at 20-21. John’s songs are ‘Dear John’ and ‘Would’ve Should’ve Could’ve’. Taylor Lautner’s is ‘Back To December’ and ‘I Can See You’. Tom Hiddleston is ‘Midnight Rain’. We still love Lautner and Tom. John and Jake though👀👀👀. With this song, the record label (‘My Tears Ricochet’) had told her it was too long. We said no it wasn’t. Taylor said screw it, I’m listening to the fans! You should definitely check out her video ‘Marjorie’. It’s about her Grandmother who passed in 2003. She never got to see Taylor blow up, and was also an opera singer. Taylor included her vocals on the backtrack of the song. Also, ‘Out Of The Woods’, ‘Is It Over Now?’, and ‘Now That We Don’t Talk’ is about Harry Styles.

The original version of this song was on the album Red so she highlights “red” a lot in the songs. This song wasn’t a single and it became a fan favorite. She made an offhand comment about how it was originally 10 minutes and it was cut down and fans HOUNDED her for years to release it. So, when she re-recorded the album, she added this version as a vault song. She now performs it during the Eras Tour. Also she did release a sad girl fall version that is much slower and softer.

TS is an emotionally intelligent intelligent woman -- she knows BOTH individuals bring their baggage & current selves to a relationship. People change! We can give the exes a pass! 😁❤

When it comes to her singing she has always said songwriting is her strongest attribute. If you watch her early live performances her singing is quite weak and it seems she would get very nervous doing award shows but would always succeed during her concerts-maybe she felt more comfortable. She has said she has done a lot of vocal training which I think is great because it shows she wants to get better in every aspect. When you were talking about her dating, If i were to pyscho-analyze 2 of her most impactful relationships (jake and john mayer) its with men who she and the media really admired for being smart and at the top of their art at the time. She put them on a pedestal and they were paying attention to her during a time when she felt disrespected by the media because they never thought she was as talented. She also said something to the effect in her documentary that pop-stars are typically frozen at the age they got famous, so like you said emotionally mature but may have been naive or not as mature in other aspects.

❤You were spot on that having this song stripped back with just a piano might be more intimate & seem even more sad or melancholy. She plays this at her concerts on piano …and it turned into a HuGE fan favorite. ❤

It was released on a 3-4min trimmed version ob the original album 2012 called RED. Then recently, she rerecorded RED, Taylors Version and put the whole 10 minute version.

To answer your question on why they keep highlighting “Red” in the music video… that’s the name of the album this song is on. The color red is a motif throughout the songs on the album.

i agree with evan the way the song’s composition is now is perfect because it makes the love shared between these two ppl feel so grand! and that makes the heartbreak even more earth shattering.

All Too Well is the magnum opus. It's a huge deal in the tay-lore ha. If you ask any swiftie what her best song is we'll cite All Too Well(10). What made it so special was that it was *the* deep cut track 5 from her album Red, some of her best writing that the fans caught onto. In 2012 the whole "Taylor is poppy and overrated" narratives were coming into full swing and she buried the more personal songs in her album, she's said this was one of the most painful songs to perform until it became a fan favourite. She offhand mentioned it was originally 10min in an interview and fans have HOUNDED her for the og lmao, so when she rerecorded her Red masters she made a big deal of giving the 10 minute version as a bonus vault track, the production is different, she did an snl life performance, released a music video which was actually a short film written and directed by Taylor (that's been awarded).... love that you guys went into this blind not knowing and still enjoyed it, a lot of reactors know it's a big deal and overreact, this was really organic. I highly recommend checking out her Grammy performance of the album version (back when it was clearly emotional for her):kzbin.info/www/bejne/rIKsZ2pmbpekrKssi=dEQ9euQsuzPdzQHw, and then the recent live snl performance of the 10 minute version! kzbin.info/www/bejne/pHvVkGuiZaZ4jacsi=ky9n1aQZ0AADjK1D

can confirm this is all true. every Swiftie's #1 song is ATW10mTV, it's just the rules. so in conversation when asked what your fave song is you might say "well of course it's ATW10mTV [other person agrees], and then my fave song is..... " both of the live versions are iconic.

It’s not a sad song, it’s bitter sweet. She is a little bitter about how it ended, but she will still remember the beauty of being young and in love.
@bru_simon368711 ай бұрын
Yeah it does remind me in some ways of the break up I went through not so long ago. I think what really helps is the repeated "I was there" line. For me, when things end it's easy to dissociate and believe that what you lived was never really real, because if you still love that person and the other suddenly doesn't anymore then what should you believe in that moment? It's a beautiful song that is able to include the different stages of grief and heartbreak while also acknowledging and validating your love story and your feelings. Oh and it feels AMAZING to scream lines like: "Maybe I asked for too much But maybe this thing was a masterpiece till you tore it all up" "And you call me up again just to break me like a promise So casually cruel in the name of being honest I'm a crumpled up piece of paper laying here" "And there we are again when I loved you so Back before you lost the one real thing you've ever known It was rare, I was there I remember it all too well" "Just between us, did the love affair maim you all too well?" Thanks for your reactions, you seem such sweet and lovely guys

Taylor made a short film based on this song. The first part is scenes of the happy to the first part of the song. Then she has a middle segment that’s just the actors acting out a fight that’s the beginning of the end with no music. Then it’s her heartbreak over the second half of the song. Everything is set up as chapters, and then Taylor either red hair plays an older version of the protagonist who has written a book based on the relationship and is doing a book reading/ signing event and the dude stand outside the store window watching her success wearing her red scarf. That view through the window broke me. You HAVE to watch the short film. It screened at the TIFF film festival.

All Too Well first came out when I was about to enter college, at the time I’ve had little to no romantic connections with anyone but All Too Well somehow touched something in me. A few years later I’ve had multiple situations where I have fortunately (and unfortunately) loved and lost and I found comfort in having this song in my back pocket to listen to when I wanted to feel something, even though I’ve never had someone almost ran the red light because they were looking at me nor have I danced around the kitchen in the refrigerator light. Now I am almost in my 30’s and having the original 10 minute version released feels like catching up with an old friend. I think that’s the magic about Taylor Swift’s music is that it’s an emotional time capsule that tugs your heart strings, reminding you of where you were and where you’re going.

I’m just glad you’re giving her a chance. And understanding that it’s not a childish teeny bob music. Her music is extremely lyrically written.

I love that you talk about the composition… I think the whole tempo of this song (beginning to end) is supposed to represent the pace/reality of a troubled relationship. The slow start, steady getting to know each other, built up issues until someone just lets it go/breaks up, the quiet numbness of a breakup, subtle healing, to remembering/frequently thinking of how you did someone wrong and they are doing okay without you.
@JenniferDomitrovits-xu9df11 ай бұрын
Yeah- there are still a lot of folks out there who will argue to the death that she can’t sing, she can’t write, she’s not a “real” musician. There are probably a number different reasons (depending on the person) for it, but it seems, like no matter what she does or how well she does it, there are just a lot of people out there who need to believe she’s not good at her job.
