You know something I thought about all last year from the start of the ERAS tour. Everyone always talks about how much money she made every night, every city. I mean do the math between 60,000-72,000 seats she's completely sold out, and the cheap seats were over $100. Do the math, its staggering. BUT No one ever talks about how much she spent to make it happen. She had to sit with engineers and designers to map out what the stage would look like, the massive moving platform, what kind of lights and speakers would go where, the massive 3-sided screen at the back of the set and another large screen at the other end of the stadium so everyone can see no matter where they sit, plus of course the camera equipment. Then she had to get the stage built by iron and steel workers. The set pieces for each ERA designed and built. Think about how much that all costs, and she hadn't sold a ticket yet. I heard there were two sets of the main framework set pieces, because one city could be setting up and preparing the next concert, while another is breaking down and packing up the last. I heard there were 50 trucks needed to haul the two sets around. Then, there were Taylor's costumes of which there were multiple variations for all but the Rep set, plus the dancers and back-up singers all had several costume changes. And you know they were expensive. Then, I don't know how you go about booking the stadium for however many nights, but that can't be cheap. And pay for the local help at each venue, as she spoke about in this video. 3000+ people per city. She's paying her own people for months of rehearsals before the tour even starts, then of course the entire course of the tour. And you know she's not paying her artists' minimum wage. It must have been literally millions of dollars spent before the tickets went on sale. All in the hopes that people will want to buy a ticket to see her show. (Obviously the risk worked out and she's got the most successful tour of all time, but there was no guarantee it would happen when she was planning, designing and paying for all the stuff she needs to put on the show.) Lastly, her generosity knows no bounds. As someone stated in another comment, she tipped her 50 truck drivers a life changing amount of money at the end of the US leg of the tour. She also tipped the dancers, musicians and backup dancers enough to make it worth their while to put their lives on hold to come on the tour with her. and finally, she reportedly made an anonymous donation to a charity in each city. Some have come forward to thank Taylor, (it may have been anonymous, but it didn't take a genius to figure out where a sudden and massive donation came from if Taylor was playing in your city that night.) so we know some food pantries received a gift of $100,000 each night in each city where she performed. Not to say she didn't make a lot of money, but how many shows did it take to break even? The logistics and financials of putting on a tour like The ERAS Tour is mind boggling when you think about it. I may never look at a concert the same way again. :)

But, as we know, she does all those other things and more.

When she performed it on Jimmy Fallons show, Jimmy's mother had just passed away. There's a lyric in the song NYDay that says, "you squeeze my hand 3 times in the back of the taxi", meaning I love you, and Jimmy shared with Taylor that his mom used to say I love you to him that way, by squeezing his hand 3 times. When she performed it on his show that night, she dedicated it to his late mother and it meant everything to Jimmy. It's things like that that make her so beloved by everyone who knows her. 💜

I love seeing grown men cry, but I for one appreciate that you all have different ways of expressing emotions. It took me like three years of therapy to be able to cry when I'm sad (yeah I'm aligning with the psychopath, or what my ex boyfriends called "robot/cold bitch") but there are two things I can always count on when I need to get those tearducts going: Disney movies and Taylor Swift. I forgot what I was going to say, but don't forget that you are entitled to react how you react. You are not less sympathetic just because you don't cry, any more than you are less "manly" or whatever because you do cry. It's awesome that you talk about it, and for what it's worth I think, based on what little I know, that you are wonderful role models for your daughters.

Here, let me make your eyes water a little more: Taylor Swift performed New Year's Day on Jimmy Fallon a week after his mom died. Taylor was not scheduled to perform that week & they asked her on a whim. It was last minute, but she did not hesitate. Before she performed, Jimmy had told the audience a sweet story about his mom, how she'd squeeze his hand three times to say "I love you" when he was a little boy. Bc this song was from Taylor's new album, most weren't prepared for the lyrics: "You squeeze my hand three times in the back of the taxi". A staffer said people were sobbing when they heard it & Jimmy could be seen crying at his desk. The hug between Taylor & Jimmy at the end of her performance always gets me. You can see how much Taylor cares & how grateful Jimmy is for her showing up & performing such a gift.

So as a swiftie who has been around since debut and who knows the lore. Long Live is not or was not originally about the fans it is about her first band which at the beginning of her career was called The Agency. There were originally 9 members of The Agency but as time has gone on most of the members went their separate ways to work on different projects. However, there are two members of The Agency that tour with Taylor to this day at The Eras Tour Paul Sidoti her lead guitarist, and Amos Heller who plays the bass and keys. If you watch the Eras Tour movie Paul and Amos can be seen when Taylor performs basically any song with her band on the lift and the entire Fearless Era. But I know for sure during Lover, Fearless, You Belong with Me, Love Story, and Long Live.

Taylor has an attitude of gratitude. I heard her say in an interview that there are performers who become successful and are suddenly demanding, rude, etc. She said that is because they don't understand "this" could all be gone tomorrow, just like that. Her introduction to this mashup of songs reflects her consistent stance of being generous, kind, and considerate toward those she employs and toward her fans. Few people have achieved Taylor's level of success. The fact that she continues to be humble and grateful speaks volumes about what a special human she is. Don't forget the $55M in bonuses she gave in 2023 to everyone on the Eras Tour. The truckers received $100,000 each. That's amazing and set a precedent because no other artist has ever been that generous.

Jake, Evan, and Alex, Watching grown men fall in love with Taylor Swift has been my favorite thing on KZbin this past year. Taylor has saved my life in more ways than I can explain. It’s truly a miracle I’m alive after the last two years. Trigger warning. The last two years have included gang rape, active addiction, spending a year devastatingly suicidal, three hospitalized overdoses, countless other non hospitalized ones, two suicide attempts, jail (which saved my life - I was caught stealing $127 of groceries for my grandma and I because her boyfriend was stealing all of our money to gamble and we were going to food banks every week, I also have an assault case against him that I won - I had a $300 bond and my family didn’t bail me out because I was safer in there than I was on the streets), inpatient rehab, sober living, a 3 day relapse where I was violently raped and strangled (June 3rd), intensive outpatient therapy, and I’m getting ready to start trauma therapy and EMDR. I had 5 surgeries and 5 organs removed by the time I was 19, I have 7 different diseases that cause chronic pain. In the last year, I was finally diagnosed with bipolar disorder, ADHD, PTSD, major depressive disorder, severe generalized anxiety disorder, and panic disorder. I just turned 31. My mom died when I was 12 at 35 years old after having the same diseases, same surgeries, same surgeon, and being put on an unethical amount of pain medication at a young age. That is also my story. I watched your reactions before I was arrested (December 23, 2023) to distract myself from the sheer hell I was living in and the tragic invasive thoughts I was constantly having. I wrote down Taylor’s lyrics while I was in jail, (after being in solitary on suicide watch for 12 days because I wrapped the phone cord around my neck while I was there - I was coming off of 8 different substances and was unethically not given any detox meds, I had seizures, I hallucinated things I will forever have PTSD from - I wasn’t doing drugs to get high, I was doing them to disintegrate into nothing), I told the other women who were there with me (once I was off suicide watch and with people again) about Taylor’s re-records, her character, the challenges she overcame, what she stood for, and how she truly made me a kinder, calmer, gentler, more empathetic, self aware human being. They all loved my random facts, because jail is pretty boring and miserable. Keep in mind, I had never done hard drugs in my life. That was my hard line in the sand. But I ran straight across it at the end of last August when I was offered cocaine from a coworker because I was so suicidal that my life did not matter to me anyway. I went from never trying hard drugs at the at of August 2023, to shooting heroin, arrested and strapped to a chair in a concrete box by December 23rd. I watched your reactions during my free time in rehab (and That Singer Reacts and G.O.T Games). I couldn’t wait to catch up on what I missed when I got to sober living. And after I was raped again, I holed up in my room for 3 weeks, no one knowing if I was going to survive or not, with Taylor’s new album and reactions on repeat. My love for my sister and Taylor’s music and community she created brought me back from the dead. If you ever think what y’all do doesn’t matter, please remember, you were right by my side the whole time I was fighting for my life, and you don’t even know who I am. And for those particular reasons, I especially respect how protective you are of women, how you talk about your daughters, and the fact that a couple of you were in the military (for different reasons). My ex of 8 years (18-26 years old) and my father both have narcissistic tendencies (I have to be careful how I word that publicly). I was told for 29 years that psychiatry wasn’t real, addiction was a choice instead of a disease, and that mental health was not to be taken as a priority. I finally sought help at 29 years old, but suffered in silence until then. You guys have given me hope that, maybe one day, my dad will validate me, he will understand me, and he will accept me for who I am. I know this is long. I’ve been terrified to share my story publicly (this isn’t even 1/8 of it), but I truly wanted to say thank you. Thank you for bringing me joy, laughter, and restoring a little bit of my faith in men, when I didn’t think I would ever experience any of those feelings ever again.

@@TAHBofficial thanks so much Jake. It’s crazy, during therapy last night, I had this really profound thought that, just because I only have one parent right now, doesn’t mean I’ve only ever had one parent. My mom is still very much a part of me. And I don’t necessarily need the validation I’ve been seeking from my dad, because I already have it from her. She lived through this. If she were still here, she would be the one person who would truly get me. And that’s a really good thing to remember. She’s been gone for so long that sometimes I forget she was ever here. But her life and her impact will always matter. It hasn’t disappeared. And I forgot that for a very long time. One good thing that’s come about over the course of the past year, is that I have become incredibly (sometimes exhaustingly) self aware. It’s just crazy. I’ve tested into the top 1% of the country academically, twice. I have letters from President Bush for test scores I’ve gotten. I was doing circuit design, project management, engineering, and VoIP for a fortune 300 telecommunications company when I was 19 years old. This stuff can truly happen to anyone, and I wish more people understood it. All I want to do for the rest of my life is bring people hope. Kindness is what saved me. It’s also what I wish I would’ve had more of. Thank you for being so open minded and receptive of me just jumping in and dropping a major ball of trigger warning trauma on you lol. I’m always willing to share my story with someone it may help. I’ve done a lot of public speaking for nonprofits, and I’m just trying to navigate my way through figuring out how to share it with the people who *need* to hear it. I’ve said this before, but whether it’s a fellow addict sleeping under a bridge tonight, or a policy maker that can enact real change, I think it’s a story that needs to be heard. Thanks for being proud of me. I’m proud of you too (unintentionally, all of my exes are military, so I have an idea of all of the bullshit you’ve put up with, and the possible tragedies you may have been through). You guys also made this video special, I always enjoy your commentary, you guys get it and we can tell. Much appreciation to you too!

that's so true!!! 17:46 fandoms of all kinds, but especially very passionate and powerful ones like Swifties, Army, Directioners, or Louies are the ones that really come to mind for me. that will, as you said, share love to anyone who shares their appreciation, or recognition of respect, to their patron artist.

😢❤ Oh My God. So I just watched a reaction from a guy named Luke. He reacted to a Taylor surprises her fans clip. 2 minutes in he was getting emotional about her kindness. She had randomly chosen some fans, went XMAS shopping went home wrapped the gifts then personally delivered them. He made the comment that she is so real, honest and genuine. He has never known or seen any artist that would even do that. Long story short I stop in to watch you guys do a reaction, listen and see Jake getting emotional and think 😮Oh Lord not again. Back to back? 😢😢 I grab a kleenex and think these 2 guys are as real as it gets. What a way to start the day.😉 Keep it real. Great reaction and great therapy session. ❤ stay safe.

I've seen this performance more times than I can count, and it gets me every. single. time. There's something so powerful about people being joined together in a huge group and feeling the same thing. It's so human and beautiful.

31:46 my mom did this for me by taking me to see a One Direction concert when i was 14. and she definitely wasn't the only parent there, but it wasn't quite her taste or preference of music at the time, but she made it happen anyway. and she went with me to travel to this concert states away from our home on a really tight budget because it was the closest they were getting to us that tour. and i will remember how that made me feel for the rest of my life. ♥️

I'm crying right alongside Jake with this one. I loved this so much. Seeing a System of A Down fan getting emotional over a Tay performance makes me so proud. She makes us feel so many things and invokes so many memories - and I loved hearing the Mum appreciation story!

When she was on with Jimmy Fallon, he said his mom would squeeze his hand 3 times, to say "I love you", and she used it in her song. Her lyrics always bring me to tears. Listen to Marjorie, she wrote it for her gramma.

She literally inspires a feeling of gratitude in our hearts. She doesn't just say things. She backs it up. She paid her truck drivers 100,000 bonus... She is all the things you have said! Well said guys!!! Way to recognize🌹

Long live was the song that convinced me to go to her concert. I would have to spend a lot of money with hotel and plane tickets, one day I was watching the rep tour on Netflix, and when this started playing I cried so much and I just knew I had to go. And I love BTS too, and totally agree with you, BTS always protect ARMY. In interviews when reporters ask what crazy things the fans have made to get close to them, RM always says that he doesn’t call it crazy, and is such a small thing but is so meaningful and it shows how much they care.

I think the biggest sign of how genuine Taylor is, is the fact that she has had a lot of the same band members, backup dancers and singers since practically the beginning of her career. I think the backup dancers were a big part of her and Katy Perry's falling out.

And she pays HUGE bonuses to all those 368 drivers who bring all the set and get it up and going in every city. She is well-known for her generosity. Many of her band members and back up singers and dancers have been with her since she was in her teens because they are so appreciated by her.

New Year’s Day is such a fantastic song of hers. It’s so beautiful but simple and one of the best things about it is it could be applied to any type of relationship in your life. “Please don’t ever become a stranger who’s laugh I could recognize anywhere” is one of her best lines in any song

Taylor is soo adorable! taylor does a lovely thing to her fans which inviting them to her house for secret sessions before any album release and she makes us cookies let us take pics with her, her cats and her awards. And christmas (we call it swiftmas) she sends presents to swifties, she buys them a wrap them by herself, and sometimes she's the one delivering them, and that's why we love her soo much

Taylor premiered New Years Day on Fallon after his mom died. He said his mom used to do the 3 squeezes on his hand, and he did it to her in the hospital before she passed. You can't watch that performance without crying.

Love you and your TED talks, Jake, from one crybaby to another, you make me feel seen 😂. Long Live being about her band and her fans holds a very special place to a lot of swifties. Your favorite artist dedicating a song to you doesn't always happen after all. And now that a lot have changed around Taylor's life ever since she wrote New Year's Day, the line about familiar laughs KILLS me harder this time around. She initially dedicated it to her ex she's dated for six years and I die a little bit inside whenever I hear the song now. Enjoyed this little 30 min hang crying to Taylor Swift with y'all. Can't wait to hear your thoughts about her latest project.

PREACH JAKE! I hear you dude. Both of the songs make me feel ALOT and move me lol. I cry every single time dude. "Long Live" is a beautiful song to her fans. Holy crap does it flood me with memories of my high school years, laughing with my friends, joking around and the things we did together. Once in awhile I'll look in my yearbook to read the little notes my friends wrote on there and to look at their faces again since I haven't seen them in over 21 years. All of that comes to mind and makes me sob when I listen to "Long Live". And also, there's part in the song where Taylor says to her fans, "If you have children someday, when they point to the pictures, please tell 'em my name. Tell 'em how the crowds went wild. Tell 'em how I hope they shine." I am bawling my eyes off lol. Mark my words, the day Taylor is no longer with us, this will be the song that will playing to remember her and the beautiful person that she was. As for "New Years Day", I cry hearing the end of the song as she's repeating "Hold on to the memories cuz they will hold onto you..." Shit. Memories of both my mom and grandma come to me. I miss them so much. They were the only ones who always lend an ear to me so I could just vent and talk crap with them lol. Whenever I saw them bored around the house, I turned on the tv for my grandma cuz she loved watching action movies with me and also enjoyed watching telenovelas. The shock on her face was precious to me and brought laughter. With my mom, every weekend, since I was 7 years right up until I was 32 when she had her stroke, we would get out the house and drive around to different cities, shop around or go eat somewhere and chill in the car listening to classic rock on the radio. Gosh I miss that time I had with her. So yeah, "New Years Day" makes me think of my mom and grandmother. RIP.

On every tour she makes sure to thank everyone behind the scenes and this is the nr. 1 reason i love her so much. And she always says her name and thank you for coming to the show like a host wanting everyone to have a great time. No other artist respect their fans and workers like she dose.
