Here in the U.K. we have rush hour between the hours of 5-6pm when everyone is driving home from work. So if you want to get anywhere you don't go out during rush hour otherwise it'll take you ages! But London is a different story, it's rush hour every hour, it's got to the point that now you have to pay for driving your car in London, that's why everyone there uses the tube etc. But London is a whole new world compared to the rest of the UK

The traffic varies on where you live e.g. Major cities like London and Birmingham and most motorways and highways tend to have a lot of traffic because of the population in that area and other smaller towns and villiages providing that there are no road works tend to be a lot quieter

In relation to the traffic situation. It is bad, but is not as bad as major US cities, eg LA and Chinese cities, eg Beijing. Although, there is a saying in Europe that the M25 is the 'biggest car park in the world', given how slow the traffic moves most of the day. It's almost as if your SatNav gives up with the predicted delay because it's generally stand still or at best 5 mph.
