In Czech, we say: In the middle of nowhere - Kde lišky dávají dobrou noc (Where the foxes say good night to you) Once in a blue moon - Jednou za uherský rok (Once in a Hungarian year) Don't teach your grandmother how to suck eggs - Neuč orla létat (Don't teach an eagle how to fly) Drift to a daydream - Přemýšlet o nesmrtelnosti chrousta (Thinking of immortality of a cockchafer beetle) And some of our phrases are the same as in Poland.

Make a bigos It has additional meaning. In the Old Polish language, verb "bigosować" meant "to chop into pieces" and it was also often a battle cry meaning "to chop your enemies!" So the phrase has quite a macabre connotation :) PS In Polish, eggs are one of the synonyms for testicles. Hence, for us your saying about not teaching your grandmother... sounds a bit... strange.
