Hey Everyone - I have really appreciated all the support for my videos and the positive comments were overwhelming in the majority. I had a few not so nice comments which I don't engage - I just block them. Please comment with a song suggestion for some more ABBA going forward and please sub my channel if you think of it .... but first and foremost - be safe and take care.

ABBA The Album has many good songs apart from The Name of the Game - Try Eagle, One Man, One Woman, Move On and Hole in Your Soul. All these songs are pretty different from each other, showing the versatility of the group. You also need to listen to Me & I, and The Piper from the Super Trouper album. Finally, the title track from The Visitors album, Soldiers and I Let The Music Speak. ABBA has so many good songs. The above are just the tip of the iceberg! Hope that you will come to love some or all of these suggestions. Enjoying your ABBA reactions thus far! ♥️

dude, setting aside that they are fkn HOTTIES, I can't believe nobody has copied the quaddrouple track on the "what's the name of the game" That is what made their vocals so amazing. If you listen to them just singing together, it is different than the "what's the name of the game". That is the ABBA hook. I have loved them for ever and can't believe nobody has picked up on this.

how nice to see you with an extraordinary song by ABBA, which has many peculiarities: 1) it's the first song in which each of the girls sings a verse as lead voice 2) the official video was recorded at Agnetha and Björn's home, because Agnetha was very late in her second pregnancy 3) "The name of the game" was released in October 1977, a month before "ABBA The Album" and the movie "ABBA The Movie" It was a bold gamble from ABBA, it opened their horizons and spread beyond pop I think that "The name of the game" (1977) have some vibs of BEATLES songs like "Penny Lane" or "Fool on the hill" (1967) curiosly, "The name of the game" was only #1 in UK (4 weeks) and replaced in the #1 for "Mull of Kintyre" by Paul McCartney You have fantastic songs in that album to react, ABBA's most versatile: "Eagle" of almost 6 minutes that opens the album "Move on" or "Hole in your soul" I follow you in your videos sharing the passion for ABBA's music A big hug from Buenos Aires, Argentina South América

This is one of my favorites: Varied, complex and yet coherent. I love the harmonies and the acapella sections, where Frida takes the lead. I don't think she's singing about a dashbord. The lyrics are: "Tell me please, 'cause I have to know. I'm a bashful child, beginning to grow"

Thanks for the ABBA. Your doing pretty good. Before starting to ask for specific genres (there's so so many) you should react to them live. "ABBA - Does Your Mother Know & Hole In Your Soul (Live at Wembley 1979)" ---> kzbin.info/www/bejne/hJe9c6h5fatmbtU This clip really shows all of them as well as their session band working together as a team. They were no joke on stage. Ton's of high energy and just tearing it up before bands had all the high tech trickery that came later. They didn't tour much but it wasn't because they couldn't pull the stuff off live. The video shouln't get blocked.

@Hassan [ Play ]Well it was actually released in a couple LatinAmerican countries in 1979 as a doubled A-sided with"I have a dream".So it was No1 in Mexico back then.Agnetha"s dynamic funky lead to this, is a hot ear charmer to me too.Makes you wanna get up and rush to the dancefloor.
@christianoazzuro67113 жыл бұрын
Hi there@Hassan [ Play ]i just saw your message.Well since CD single format wasn"t available at the time, when a 7 inch vynil single was stated as a double A sided,it meant that the record company had aproved each 2 songs of being equally strong for the country"s music market.Such thing happened in Mexico where "As good..."was coupled as an A sided single with "I have a dream".Same case in the UK market with the Dual A sided "Angeleys/Voulez vous"single same year(A top 3 hit single for BOTH songs there).In another Latin American market Bolivia,record company RCA/VICTOR released"As good ..." specificaly as the lead song on side A, and used "I have a dream"as the B side filler.Of course i dont know which song of the two,motivated the fans to make this double A sided single a No1 in Mexico.We got to do the impossible,asking the record buying public back then.lol...so i cant really answer this question.I remember though one of the guys-Benny i think-, told in a 1979 radio interview that they did their best so that each Abba song included in a new album to be able to stand as a potentional single on its own.Bjorn also revealed years after, that a 100percent from the material they wrote, only 5 percent was aproved by them for release. The rest 95percent was thrown to rubbish!Benny also confirmed this when asked.Have a nice day.

Thank you for sharing your reaction 🌷🌷🌷🌷It came out 1977 and I always thought it was one of the songs that had a more 'American" touch, even their English pronounciation sounds more American😉 I love this song❤ Agnetha was working as a dashboard girl at a car dealership when she was 16 years old living in Jönköping and touring with a dance band. One of her idols growing up was Connie Francis. Agnetha's solo debut came when the was 17 years old with this song (English subtitles): kzbin.info/www/bejne/oaSyXp6vbpyfqNk

@@masseysmaineentertainment that’s a beautiful way you have described that, Sometimes Benny loved the ‘wall of sound’ approach, but with The Name Of The Game, My Mama Said, and a few others he let the music speak (no pun intended as ABBA have a song called I Let The Music Speak, which is very grandiose and has many musical movements throughout.)

AYBL You are absolutely right on the Stevie Wonder influence,to this one.I remember in late 1982 an interview in a UK music paper where Abba members mentioned him and Chicago amongst their faves when asked.This one was inspired by Stevie"s work on his"Songs in the key of life"album.Its not such an instant catcher it takes a couple of listens to grow on you.Its a mature prog- pop song as you very well stated.Great track with a complicated construction,many hooks that surface here and there and very deep lyrics.To an unsuspicious listener this might sound like a love song with a velvet kinky beat, talking about a girl"s love insecurities while flirting.But "under the make up" it also deals with a woman"s fear of betrayal and agoraphobia"/i have no friends/noone to see/and i am never invited" Hip hop band "FUGEES" sampled part of it in the late 90s for their song"Rumble in the jungle".The whole1977 LP"ABBA-THE ALBUM" is inspired by the American music scene of that time.Includes also other great tracks such as "EAGLE","MOVE ON","ONE MAN ONE WOMAN" and the dynamic pop rocky prog "HOLE IN YOUR SOUL"which was originally intented to be the 1st single.IMHO both "The Album"and 1981"s "The Visitors"are lyricaly, Abba"s best work.

I'd be interested to know your thoughts of ABBA's "Hole in Your Soul," (from the same album as "Name of the Game"). I think this song shows a harder rock edge. I suggest listening to the studio track first and then check out the live performance if you have time. Oh, and it would be helpful to have the lyrics pulled up so you can follow along as you listen to the song.
