Spandau Ballet was quite obviously British, their style of Sophisti-Pop was born in the UK, and at the beginning of their career they belonged to the New Romantic movement, which was also born in the UK.

Pound for pound, the Brits have the best bands. I'm American and most of my favorite bands are from the UK. Everything from Pink Floyd to Tears for Fears to Judas Priest.

America had a few big metal bands in the 80s. Guns N Roses, Mötley Crüe, Poison, Kiss etc. But yea I'd say it was quite Brit dominated.

Yes, the Rolling Stones are British. British groups cross into US so often because they have been leading the world in music since The Beatles. They have hits the world over regardless of the language spoken in each country

Britain is the world melting pot for music. Britain takes huge influences from Europe, Africa, America, the Caribbean, Asia etc and then mix it all up into their own style. Britain also has a free music market, or used to it's kinda stagnated atm. Corporate influence was rare so musicians weren't pigeon hold unlike a lot of other countries that had specific expectations of music.

What happened to the UK, we had so much talent a few years back, especially in the music scene, it seems to be badly lacking today.

The use of the song for rickrolling dates to 2006, originating from the 4chan imageboard in an early meme known as "duck rolling". Sometime in 2006, the site moderator, Christopher "m00t" Poole, implemented a word filter replacing the word "egg" with "duck" as a gag. On one thread, where "eggroll" had become "duckroll", an anonymous user posted an edited image of a duck with wheels, calling it a "duckroll". The image caught on across 4chan, becoming the target of a hyperlink with an otherwise interesting title, with a user clicking through having been stated to be "duck rolled". The bait-and-switch to "Never Gonna Give You Up" greatly expanded on 4chan on April Fools' Day in 2007, and led to the trick expanding to other sites like Fark and Digg later that year, quickly adding the name "rickrolling" based on the prior "duck rolling".

Player was formed in America but half the member's and main singer are British, which probably explained why they're ln these list's, their alway's in British list's and never in American list's, to be fair tho, if any rock band at the time would say from a place theyd prob pick UK for the outstanding UK Rock Band's that dominated Chart's, basically half British anyway

Dusty Springfield was Irish (RoI) 🇮🇪 so not British...and her real name was Mary.
@ffotograffyddКүн бұрын
Dusty Springfield was born in Henley-on-Thames in England and was a British citizen. Her father was born in Ireland but grew up in India before moving to England, while her mother was born in Ireland and moved to England.

@@ffotograffydd Well done. I've read claims for both Henley-on-Thames and West Hampstead. Either way, British. Merry Christmas. 🎅 ☮

@@gbulmer She lived in various parts of London, including West Hampstead, but she was definitely born in Henley-on-Thames.
@gbulmer22 сағат бұрын
@@ffotograffydd Thank you for replying. I'm willing to believe either. Most of the sources I've read either say Hampstead or London, including newspaper obituaries and a biography. Those sources say she did die in Henley-on-Thames, which seems an odd coincidence. However, the point is Dusty was a British citizen, not Irish. Best Wishes. ☮

If you look them up, it said British on their individual Bio, and I've myself seen an interview were they said they were British, why wouldn't they, they were living in a time where British Rock and British Band's dominated, British Association was their key, literally said British, tho Isle of Man as Birth place
