The Disney program is called "From All of Us to All of You" and is an animated television Christmas special, produced by Walt Disney Productions and first presented on December 19, 1958 on ABC as part of the Walt Disney Presents anthology series. In Sweden it's a bit edited and there's a section with clips from the latest Disney/Pixar movies. It's bee broadcasted in Sweden since Christmas 1959.

I have never heard of anyone eating pölsa as Christmas food. It’s a dish that hardly anyone eats, and if they do, they certainly wouldn’t admit it.
@janpersson9818Күн бұрын
I ate it when I was younger. Never at Christmas though.

Pölsa are a dish from back in the days when farmers living on the brink of starvation and they needed to make everything into food. But I have never seen pölsa at at christmas dinner.. Sillsallad is bad enough which only advantage it's pretty when you puke in the snow..And that's it. Pölsa wouldn't even look any diffrent.,..That tells you something LOL
@tompettersson3814Күн бұрын
I have eaten pölsa my whole life. Love it.
@mrbaeverКүн бұрын
Yeah I don't know about the pölsa part? Maybe it was confused with "julsylta"? I eat neither of it...
@mnemetotoroКүн бұрын
Completeley unheard of, never seen it at a Christmas dinner, or lunch. Been to countless traditional parties, all over Sweden, big celebrations, hotels/herrgårdar where every single dish is covered so no one can claim they missed one. He must’ve made that up. Guess he finds it weird, and therefore funny or something. However, it’s not true.

The Kalle Anka/Disney-thing is 100% true! Like 95% of the programme is the same every year, and the rest is a small advert for a new movie. Mind you, the programme has been airing basically in exactly the same format since 1958, so our older relatives have been watching it since then. So my mum, born in 1958, has watched it 66 times!!
@giajensen16892 күн бұрын
6:57 Don’t know anybody who has pölsa on their julbord (smörgåsbord that are themed for Christmas), but everyone has their own traditions and does things a little differently so maybe some families do.❤❤❤🇸🇪

When the tradition with Disney started we only had one TV-channel in Sweden and kids only watched cartoons once a year. Then it became a Tradition, and we Swedes take all our traditions very seriously. We still honour our pre-christian tradition of Lusse - now in the form of Lucia and the viking tradition of eating pork at midwinter and "drinking yule", as our earliest texts call it, remain.
@giajensen16892 күн бұрын
4:56 Yes we do! And yes it’s the same cartoons plus a up and coming Disney movie that also has a clip! And this hour of different Disney cartoons is one of the most watched programs the whole year! After the Kalle Ankas jul, we sit down for a big smörgåsbord or smorgasboard as you say, Santa comes and scares the shit out of all the children. He ask are there any kind/nice/wellbehaved (one ord in Swedish)children here? He hands out one present each to the children that are present and then he leaves (and the relative that had an errand before Santa showed up, magically comes back. Everyone relaxes and starts handing out the presents from under the tree! ❤❤❤🇸🇪

We used to eat our Christmas table before Kalle Anka, Donald Duck, which starts 3 o’clock. -Breakfast at 8.30. Then we eat the first sandwich with Christmas Ham and sweet strong Mustard. -Coffe at 11. Then out for a walk. -Julbord at 1.30-15 pm. -Kalle Anka at 3-4. -Free time between 4-6. -Serving sweets and drinks. -Santa Claus is arriving around 6. 🎅🏼 -In the evening some watch a Christmas Movie and/or Karl Bertil Jonssons Jul. And the kids are playing with their Christmas presents until they go to bed, and then some goes for a night walk. ❄️⭐️👍

The Disney hour with Donald Duck is very much a tradition, it does get updated every year, but some parts of it are staples that are kept mostly unchanged. Started like back in the 50s.

Very funny guy! Not really telling the truth though, but who cares? 😂 The "Donald Duck" we watch on TV at 3 pm is a christmas special in it"s original called "From All of Us to All of You", it's from 1958 and was shown once ln the US then. In Sweden it's been shown every christmas since 1960. (They also show it in Denmark, but a slightly different version.) It"s very cozy and fun, everyone is a kid at christmas (at least for 60 minutes). ❤
@kerstin1719Күн бұрын
As other commenters have mentioned we don't eat pölsa at the julbord and preferably never anywhere else. When I was a kid our tradition was always to eat julbord before 3 PM and then open presents after Kalle Anka. I think it was my mother's idea just to make sure she could have a bit of rest in the afternoon, before the orgy started. Translating Santa Claus into "Clas Ohlson" was so funny to me and I don't understand why.
@ZeelianКүн бұрын
I have never seen seen pölsa at a Julbord. But I'd say, do try it, it's great, best served fried up in a pan with some chopped onion and black pepper, served with potatoes and pickled beetroot.

It isn´t like a Donald duck episode each year. But a list of short movies and clips from full lenght movies. And this list is the same each year, it is presented kind of like a gala, with Jiminy Cricket and Chip and Dale as cost and co hosts. And they present christmas cards wich then plays the movie clips. The clips always come in the same order and goes as follows: Santa's Workshop Clown of the Jungle Cinderella Mickey's Trailer Lady and the tramp Jungle book Snow white and the 7 dwarfs Ferdinand the Bull Robin Hood Pluto's Christmas Tree and then 1-2 clips from uppcoming movies/movies made very recently. (this is the only thing that changes each year)
@miluiel_92Күн бұрын
a description if a non Swede is interested on which exact part/the story of each part Santa's Workshop - a short film where santa is packing his slay Clown of the Jungle - a short film where donald duck is a photographer of interesting bird species in the jungle. Cinderella - only the song where the mice do her dress Mickey's Trailer - a short film where Mickey, Donald and goofy is camping in a van. Lady and the tramp - the scene were they eat meat balls and sing "bella note" Jungle book- the bear necesities song Snow white and the 7 dwarfs - the scene where they dance in the dwarve´s cottage. Ferdinand the Bull - short movie about a bull that doesn´t want to fight Robin Hood- the scene where Robin and little John is stealing prince Johns money and escaping with the imprisoned people into Sherwood forest. Pluto's Christmas Tree - a short film in wich Mickey is decorating a christmas tree, and Pluto and Chip and Dale is figting hence ruining said christmas tree.

This was so funny. I hope you understand the layers of irony in this clip. We do have "Julbord" it's the same as "Smörgåsbord" but with a christmasy twist. But there is a lot of food, strong beverage and candy. You really feel well at the end of the evening 🤪

I never thought Haggis and Pölsa were that similar but turns out, they are maybe not too far from each other. One's made with beef parts, and the other with sheeps parts. Of course spices and preparation differs, but pretty much the same idea. Take the leftover bits and pieces and make something decently edible, maybe if you are just that crazy, even tasty.

About the Disney special- every damn year someone has to ask: and when was this made/shown here the first time? Every year! It's followed by a discussion resolved by someone googling.
@nocturne7371Күн бұрын
Pölsa is very close to Haggis. Haggis is made of sheep and pölsa of pig. The spices are also a bit different. But it's like a Swedish variation of Haggis. It was originally made from the bit's and pieces that got left over after slaughter.

We eat we drink we open present we drink some more then we do the julklappspelet, the christamsparcelgame. Everybody buy something for in your case 5 pounds. The we take a dice and hope for a 1 or 6, then we can snacth a gift from each other. This happens for atleast 15 minutes, it varies. If you r lucky you can win alot of presents =) then we drink some more and eat alot of candies...Swedish Julafton! every year...every year...every year....and so on....and then we drink some more.

Well, not entirely representative. Donald Duck at 3 pm Dec 24 is absolutly trye! It started when there was only 1 TV channel. No videos, DVDs etc. So once every year everybody could watch cartoons. And that was a joy for children and adults! I knoe, I was there 😂 Also the Christmas food is mainly an assortment of animal products. So he was right about how slim pickings there are for a vegan.

Shots to get it going isn't strictly true in all cases. In some cases, such as in my own family, we do the glögg (i.e. mulled wine) instead. Of course it being 10% or even 15% isn't enough, so we put some extra vodka in it to spike it up a bit (other types of booze works fine as well - your taste is like your butt, after all). Then we continue to drink them from the tiniest, silliest little glasses, with handles small enough that they barely even function, and of course almonds and raisins are put in the glasses also, in case you get a bit hungry and aren't really in the mood for gingerbread cookies or clementines.
