I'm so glad you caught that 17 second run at the end. It's phenomenal, all in 1 breath including belting. Many reactors pause in the middle of it & don't rewind so they miss it. I love the way you rewind when you hear something amazing. This was just Angelina, trying out her new mic she got from her family for her 12th Birthday, while sitting on the couch singing to a backing track. I can hear her Mom saying "Angelina, stop playing with that mic & do your homework!" Think about what her polished studio version at 16 would sound like. Just sayin'!!!

@@kristena9285 it's interesting Kristen. The first few times I heard this I also thought that the raspiness was overdone and I wasn't sure I liked it. But hearing it over time, I realize what a masterful performance it was, especially for young girl. Even if the raspiness was overdone a little bit, she's still embodied Etta James and the music of her times. I've never heard that song done like that.

I am often at a loss for words, when trying to describe Angelina Jordan's voice, or what genre she fits in, & I have come to accept, that she does not fit in any category, or genre, & is simply in league all of her own.....One thing I do know though, is every time I hear her voice, it touches my heart & brings out emotions, some of which, I didn't even know existed! Hello Lady Luck, there are certainly not many singers who can sing like that. But most will stand for such a performance and not have to sit and give everything. Angelina just sits on the sofa and holds the microphone. It almost looks like she's just testing out a new microphone. 🤣 This is my favorite Angelina song. And she has so many outstanding covers. It's hard to choose one. And please don't forget that she arranges her songs herself since she was 6 or 7 years old. By the way, I think it's good that you want to hear the important passages again. Yes, that run is phenomenal! and that fade to black at the end of the song is believed to show that Etta was taken too soon from us. Love your reactions Lady! She had just received that wonderful Neuman mic for her 12th birthday. Even though she is singing into the back of it (red symbol is supposed to face the performer) it doesn't even matter!

I'm a new subscriber here because I loved this reaction! For me the most amazing and wonderful thing is how she seems to not just "cover" a song, but to inhabit it...she dives into a song as if it were a clear running river; swims around in it while we watch/listen in awe. And there seems to be no limit on the style or genre of music she can sing and deliver a performance that may be "The Best I've Ever Heard".

Great reaction Lady Luck. So glad to hear you are feeling better. Angelina's music can make you feel much better. Thank you so much for encouraging viewers to support Angelina and it is a great thing to do for each aspiring artist you react to. I have a suggestion for you to consider. About a year ago, Angelina's management team told her fan clubs they believed reaction channels were hurting her KZbin analytics since if her angels were watching all the reactions posted each day, they wouldn't be watching her original videos as often. Of course there is some logic to that but I believe reaction channels are a great way to introduce new people to an artist. Personally, I have limited time to devote to watching reaction videos each day so I will only watch one reaction from a given reactor to a given artist per day. I think this is a great compromise with Angelina's team and my own schedule. It is up to you, but I also firmly believe reaction channels get more views by only posting one reaction per day per artist.

Angelina is a singing prodigy and I hope she never has to go through the trials of the REAL WORLD to sing this song like Etta and Beth. Joe Bonamassa is a world class blues guitarist and they did this act on stage with a full band, live. Beth is a survivor, like you. So, you know she's got scars and baggage like most of us and when she sings this song, she's singing from the heart, not just the record or lead sheet. Somehow, Angelina has a GIFT that can tap into feelings that she's not yet experienced, but can still communicate. Imageine when she does fall in love or even have her heart broken. Maybe she'll go to the next level in becoming an icon, like a Judy Garland who was a similar child prodigy. Through Judy's career, her iconic classic 'Somewhere Over The Rainbow' took on different meanings, like dealing with MGM's grueling scheduling and introducing Judy to prescription drugs, her abuse of alcohol,marrrying wrong men, depression, etc. From an innocent sister act to an early death, broke and broken. Thank goodness AJ has her family watching over her. Anyway, Beth Hart has had her demons and survived like Etta. This is the background I'd like you to view this video with. P.S. In closing. Katrina Velarde's cover of Patti Labelle cover of 'Somewhere Over The Rainbow' was magnificent. I am not sure, but it may have been recorded after the death of Katrina's newly married husband(around 6 months after they just got married) in 2020. For her to sing that song, shows how strong a person she is. This probably means that the baby she was holding in one of her videos, was theres. Don't know if anyone has suggested this, but you should check out a short video showing Angelina performing with the great Jimmy Z, a legendary saxophonist that has played with many big time singers, including Etta James. feedback: the sound of your voice is great. but then the song started and the quality is not there. Check your settings and improve the HQ. Also, you are not getting all the sounds. You need headphones... urgently!.... over the ear... with range 5hz to 30,000hz (not the usual 20 to 20,000). The difference is huge. you will enjoy music a lot more. you will listen those deep bass sounds for the 1st time.
