In the beginning, it was clear that Oliver was really nervous. He was singing Ed Sheeran's song in front of Ed Sheeran and he knew Ed was there to pay attention and give his thoughts about it. He told Ed that he's his hero. With that in mind he did an amazing job. If we also take into account that he's on stage with Iam who he knows is the most popular person, and he agrees with it, in that room, well I'm impressed that he was able to get a word out at all!!

The last time I heard harmonies that gorgeous was Simon and Garfunkel. I think their voices together have a kind of barbershop quartet quality, where the harmonics of their voices work together to add what sounds like another voice into the mix. Iam’s voice is so rich. People have criticized him for his size (fans of Megan no doubt) but I think a lot of his resonance comes from that big chamber. He will have to take care of himself, but I hope it doesn’t become an obsession. So much of one’s health is genetic anyway. You can feel color throughout his range, whether singing soft or loud, and the voice has an immediacy to it that’s somehow soothing not strident. Oliver sounded good. He added some flourishes on his own and matched Iam’s vibrato extremely well. A great pairing.
