This song can be interpreted differently, NATO bombing of Serbia began in spring ( black birds or airplanes) , another interpratation dictates Albanians uzurpating Serbian Kosovo. It can also symbolize all suffering Serbia went through. Lyrics are metaphorical and perfeclty incorporated because Serbs know what she sings about. I want this song to respresent us no matter the result! SERBIA❤

English lyrics♡ Spring brought the sun Over the hills everything bloomed On the plain an apple sprouts Unripe, it falls from the branch with a strong cry A gray cloud hides the sky, black birds again It thunders, it flashes, hail falls and destroys the eagle's nest Awake morning, night is tired The apple on the grass, sad and gloomy It blooms again, sends out roots And just as it takes a glimpse of the sun, there's a huge shadow A gray cloud hides the sky, black birds again It thunders, it flashes, hail falls and destroys the eagle's nest Dad says to the little eagle, "it will be over, son" The black birds will go away, it will be sunny again My dear, my dear, it will be ѕunny again My dear, my deаr, everything will be over Breskavica

A gray cloud hides the sky black birds again thunder, rain, hail and destroys the eagle's nest Eagle's nest, eagle's nest, eagle's nest Wake up in the morning, the night is tired an apple on the grass, sad, gloomy it blooms again, takes root and, as soon as he took a glimpse of the sun there is a huge shadow Ref. Dad says to the little eagle it will be done, son the black birds will leave it will be clear again My love, my love it will be clear again my dear, my dear everything will be over

The song is symbolic and full of metaphors. It talks about the Serbian people's longing to be free again. The "black birds" are actually NATO occupation forces stationed in the Serbian southern province of Kosovo and Metohija since 1999. The father eagle tells his little eagle son to be patient and wait until NATO troops leave and then everything "will be over", meaning - Serbs will be able to return to their cradle in Kosovo.

The song uses a lot of ethnic Serbian elements - many of the instruments, like the "gusle" (bagpipe-esque sound), the drums are a "tapan" (traditional serbian drum), the flute sounding one is a "frula" and a few more I can't pick out immediately are used a lot in ethnic music and traditionally Serbian, aswell as the 7/8 rhythmn that can be found all across our ethnic melodies. It's title means "Eagle's nest" in English, as the Eagle is a symbol of our people. It talks about all the times that we have suffered through history. The song doesn't really talk about one specific moment, so I suppose you can apply it to any - be it about the Battle of Kosovo against the Ottomans and Vidovdan; when the Ottomans took over and we were under occupation, the first WW when Serbia lost about a third of it's population (by the way, another song from our selection, "Ramonda" by Teya Dora also has symbolism more specific to that, you should check it out if you haven't already), the genocide of Serbs in the Independent State of Croatia in WW2, the NATO-Bombings in the late 1990s, or even the current political state of the country (arguably autocratic regime). The song is about a hope for better times and powering through the bad (paraphrasing rn but a part of the lyrics are basically: "The father tells his son, the little eagle, everything will be alright again. It will all be over soon"). It is particularly empowering (and somewhat patriotic) for us because of all the symbolism that is directly connect to us and Serbian history, but can also be applied to any people that are suffering right now - eg. the Palestinians of Gaza (❤🍉) I have a bit of a soft spot for the song (especially due to the 7/8 rhythmn), because I am a folklor (serbian traditional dances) dancer and really connect to our ethno music.

It is very bad to mention Hitler's bunker in the context of a Serbian song. Serbs have always been victims of Germans and Europe. If the song talks about something, it is the Serbian fate, which is such that they are always attacking and defending themselves. But it should be said that this competition is unpopular in Serbia and is seen as a festival of kitsch and immorality.

Personally, I find this song a bit nauseating as a Serbian. The lyrics lack depth and originality, and the instrumental feels like something we've heard countless times before in similar entries. While it's clearly aiming for the nationalist and diaspora vote, I'm not sure it's authentic to the singer's style. The juries might not be impressed, but public support could still land her in first or second place. Regardless of my opinion, I'm glad this song is in the competition. It shows the RTS Eurovision department's commitment to inclusivity and diversity, which makes the festival more vibrant for everyone. Keep up the great work, Jan. :D
