I'm in the UK, a few years ago, I had some health issues and was off work for 18 months with full pay, also I get 10 weeks annual leave each year, which I claimed back, because if your sick while on annual leave you get that time back with my job, I don't think this is common in the UK though, I'm not sure.

guys, great channel, what he does not explain to well, is that it does not matter whether your sick, on maternity leave, not working, we have in the UK mandated by law a minimum amount the law says you need to live on for example me and my wife, we lived in rented home, my wife works 22 hours per week, i have been on the sick for 3 years and will be on the sick for another 2 years due to treatment, which is free by the way So for our situation, the government has said, we need £2100.00 a month to live on, we cant go below that figure that is madated by law my earns £1000.00 a month, the law says we need £2100.00 a month, so the government pays us an extra £1100.00 a month to bring us up to £2100.00 a month, which is mandated by law, we will never fall below that, but we also get extras, because we getting help free eye test free glasses up to £70.00 free prescriptions free dental hope this helps, and all my medical is free, i am 60 years old, and have never paid anything for medical

Holiday pay here in Australia too. Still get paid when you’re sick if you’re on a yearly salary too

In the Uk you work to live in the US you live to work.

I get 6.6 weeks paid holiday per year. If I work overtime before the holiday, then my holiday pay is higher as it as calculated from recent take home pay, not my salary.

Mine is like that too. I get 38 days holiday a year and 20 of the days are paid at an average hourly rate of all the hours and overtime i have done during the previous tax year

I am very very lucky that as i have been at my company a long time i get 38 days holiday a year. 30 which i can take whenever i like, 5 bank holidays that i can choose to take or save them all and take a week off and 3 compulsory holidays (Christmas day, Boxing day and New Years day)

Another great one. & yeah, you have MUCH better workers rights in Nigeria. Because it's understood that people work a job so they can live a comfortable life. Not like the US where you live to go to work. Also, your Mom's restaurant is a PERFECT example for why ill people need time off work to get better. Gods forbid, but let us say that a waiter comes to work sick & does a bit of coughing & sneezing. What is the likely effect of that to their work mates? What happens if one of the customers gets sick? What happens to your Mom's whole business when just this 1 incident becomes public knowledge? So what is better? Pay a lowered salary to a sick person while they get better? Or having sick people working around food? & this is 1 example. Now take that idea to a factory, a school, an airport...
