The firm Fray Bentos is named after the town in Argentina where they originated. The parents of a WW1 British officer used to sell Frey Bentos tinned meats in their grocery shop. As their son was a tank commander, with typical dark British humour, he named the tank "Frey Bentos". It would end up as one of the most famous tanks of WW1. Google ""Frey Bentos", the tank that inspired "Fury"".

Just to clarify, when people talk about NHS wait times they are not referring to the amount of time you spend in a queue on the phone :D
@dees31795 ай бұрын
To give some context, I recently received a letter telling me I have been added to the waiting list for an appointment. That letter has taken a year to come. There are no estimates for when the appointment will be, but it is known that the lists are multiple years long. This is just for diagnosis. If I were to ‘queue jump’ by paying to get a private diagnosis I would not be eligible for any NHS support. This is not ADHD btw, I’ve already been on that list four years……same story despite having gone through two triage tests to get on the waiting list. NHS is amazing, they are why I didn’t go bankrupt in addition to having cancer, but living with conditions that really affect your life and ability to work for such a protracted time is not in any way efficient.

Ricky Gervais has quite a few people who dislike him for many reasons but mostly connected with his stand-up. Those who are more liberal in their politics see him as punching down to some of the most maligned in society (ie trans people) for cheap laughs and those who are politically more conservative see him as vulgar. His actual tv shows and films don’t garner the same level of criticism and neither did his stint as the host of the Golden Globes (though most in the UK would have only seen it on KZbin as if they are even aired live on tv here, it’s the middle of the night).

@lynnejamieson20636 ай бұрын
@@CarolWoosey-ck2rg yeah, how dare people care about how the words and actions of people affect others. The world is obviously a far better place if people only care about themselves and go out of their way to malign others for just being who they are and how terrible is it that they actually vocalise this to those who have millions of pounds in the bank and a worldwide following. I mean, Ricky’s feelings are obviously so much more important than those who might be borderline su!cidal due to lack of understanding about their sexuality or because they find it impossible to lose weight (and keep it off) due to medical conditions or in the case of many women the biological changes that come with pregnancy and menopause. Because being able to get a cheap laugh as a wealthy middle aged white man is way more important. I have no issue with near the bone jokes in general (even if they are far better when it’s the privileged that are the butt of it) but it’s Ricky’s sense of superiority that comes with his delivery that grates and there are so many comedians that do it better. Nothing wrong with his tv and film offerings though, as they tend to be much more of a reflection of actual people in the UK, instead of the almost bullying that his stand up offers.
