Sean Micallef is a national treasure, he's been a mainstay of the comedy scene in Australia for decades. A trained barrister, pivoted to comedy - he's had some great sketch comedy shows in the past but really is at his best doing political satire.

Not sure what happened (apologies if this posts twice). Palmer is a successful businessman in the same way Trump is - he's got a lot of money and a lot of crazy ideas, but there's surprisingly few successful business ventures he's tried. He was an MP (can' remember if he also sat in the Senate at a different time) for a while and learnt that basically as an independent it's practically impossible to have too much influence let alone be PM. He created a party that was mainly Right, although it seemed to be made up of randoms - and won very few seats (I think maybe in their entire history they've won 2 or 3 seats - MPs *and* Senators (excluding himself)). I think they might have a current Senator.....but their cost of campaign vs number of Members/Senators elected is quite extreme..... I don't particular like him or what he stands for - but he's got a right to have a go, and it's normally a good laugh when he does.

Well he was never ever fighting to win a seat - his endeavours were clearly an endevour to harvest preferences from voters who didn’t like the majors which were then re directed to LNP. More importantly 90% of his political messaging was directed against Labor in a particularly abrasive and post truth manner that would have possibly have alarmed a few traditional Liberal voters but won over others who were on the fence. He’s a cancer on our politics but is now joined by big tech big money big bots, along with all their other billionaire mates.

I remember when Clive Palmer took premier of Western Australia Mark McGowan to court for defamation and lost the case. The exchanges between Clive Palmer and Mark McGowan during the Covid pandemic was hilarious. Including Mark comparing Clive to an invasive Cane Toad.

He only lost, because McGowan made himself exempt from prosecution, which remains the fact to this day! Now ask yourself why?

If his name is mentioned, you dont wait to hear the story, as his name alone is the punchline. The party mentioned had gained popularity during a time when voters were tired of the 2 main parties. This has happened at different times throughout Aussie history, where small groups make enough noise they end up winning a few seats. But once in power they do very little and rarely make any positive change whilst in power. They talk big, making a few waves (generally only ripples) but their lack of real political knowledge ends up shining through and eventually voters move away from them.

Apart from knowing that I don't want to know about him, I try to know as little about C Palmer as possible, and must admit I've been quite successful at it.

Just because they get lucky or inherit billions of dollars does not mean they have to be smart. Gina Rinehart, smart, Clive Palmer, not so smart and really dumb is Andrew Forrest.
