This was just after Ciara… Monster was the rebirth of the future we know today. This song is an ode to lean (codeine promethazine). The mumble is East Atlanta drawl- Zone 6 to be exact. His voice is naturally auto tuned. This track is so deep, he’s so honest. You gotta know where he came from for it to make sense.

I'm glad u watched this because I haven't seen anyone react to this song. This song takes me back to when I used to go out a lot and was dealing with a lot of depression. I was always drunk or high or both. This was the song I always listened to because it fit so well with that negative part of me but also motivated me to get better in life. It's weird. Thats why the video made so much sense to me. Being from Atlanta it wasn't hard to understand him but I highly recommend reading the lyrics if you listen to it again. P.S every rapper will swing their arms around at some point. It's sort of a way of showing their connection to the music. Like how Michael Jackson or James Brown will dance on stage. It's the power of music.

Something that might not resonate for you like with other fans is that Future usually doesn’t make music like this. His music is mostly upbeat and made to put on when you’re feeling good but this song is pretty different. At first listen, it sounds celebratory and upbeat but when you listen to/ pull up the lyrics, there is a sadder and more vulnerable side to the song. This album dropped right after a breakup and this song was the Outro track.

Throw Away by Future is a really good example of the dichotomy between his uptempo style and the style that is shown on this track. They're both off the same mixtape (Monster). I think it would be a good way to understand this period of Future's career (that resurgence after his break-up with Ciara) and how his trajectory went left in comparison to what his music sounded like before this point.
