Hi girls , hence you like Dimash and his songs I would like to give some background information about the song and the instrument he plays. - First the instrument he used at the beginning is called Dombra or Dombıra (Different pronouncation in regions) Its a folkloric instrument which is used in many Turkish countries. -The language he natively speaks is not "Khazakh" its Turkish but the Khazakh accent ( Or better Kazak in our language) We have many accents in this language, like from Azerbaycan, Uzbekistan (Özbekistan), Kyrghisistan (Kırgızistan), Turkmenistan, Uighur (Uygur), Turkey Turkish etc. -Magzhan Zhumabayev (1893-1938), was arrested and sent to prison because he was involved with pan Turkist movement and during that time Khazakstan was under the Soviet regime. In the prison, they told him his wife had left him. He wrote this song about his love and his sadness. It turned out that his wife never left him (he had been lied to) and they were reunited in 1936, when he was released from prison. Unfortunately, their happiness did not last long, he was again arrested again and was executed in 1938 as an enemy of the state because such ideologies like pan Turkism was forbidden, which was very popular during 1890-1938. Especially the war of independence in Turkey during that time, led by Mustafa Kemal Atatürk was a very strong incentive for all other Turkish countries across Asia. Many people from Khazakshtan and other Turkish countries have come to aid to the war of independence which we won't forget forever. Here is the translation of the lyrics in the song; "-I take my pen to write you my dear -Your face is lovely like the Fourteenth moon -When I remember you, my dear -The pain in my heart stirs with passion. - Ah Daididau -The pain in my heart stirs with passion. -Are you really going to leave me -Did you choose to part from our love -We were once so devoted to each other -To whom shall I reveal my misery (Sorrow) -Ah Daididau -To whom shall I reveal my misery (Sorrow) -Ah Daididau -To whom shall I reveal my misery (Sorrow) -Daididau -Your face is lovely like the Fourteenth moon -Ah Daididau -To whom shall I reveal my misery (Sorrow)" -The moon has very deep meaning in the Turkish culture. It means purenes, virginity in emotion, therefore many people name their children like Aybala (Moonchild) Aybike/Aybüke (Moonprincess). I have to correct you. Kazakh is not an accent of Turkish. Kazakh comes from a Turkic language family. Turkish is in Oghuz branch of Turkic language, Kazakh is in Kipchak branch of Turkic language. The languages are similar yes, but between Turkish and Kazakh, it's not mutually intelligible. As a Turkish speaker, I do not understand 90-95% of the Kazakh language, except if they break down in basic conversation to me.

In a backstage interview he had also explained that, regardless of whether he progressed further in the competition or not, it was very important to him that he be able to honor and share the music from his country as his way of thanking everyone for their support. They even arranged to have members of the Kazakhstan Orchestra brought in to share the stage. That's a true professional, and someone appreciates sharing his pride and gratitude for the opportunities from the show.

Great reaction - thank you. Dimash wanted to show China the culture of Kazakhstan, his homeland. He is very proud of his country and culture. All the costumes are traditional garbs, as were the instruments. Daididau is a Kazakh folk song about a patriot that was wrongfully imprisoned and told his wife left him - this is his song to her.... she didn't desert him. Looking forward to more.

Ciao ragazze! Se guardate sul canale di Gloria Wu c'è la traduzione in inglese delle canzoni di Dimash e anche la loro storia. Proprio Daididau ha una storia particolarmente struggente e romantica, di cui non vi dico nulla per non togliervi la sorpresa, nel caso voleste guardarci. ☺ Un'altra canzone di cui vale la pena conoscere il testo e la storia è Daybreak, che non credo abbiate ancora fatto. L'unica pecca di quel video è un bug di alcuni secondi proprio mentre è in pieno acuto, ma per il resto merita tutto. Se deciderete di fare la reaction anche di Daybreak vi suggerisco quindi di farla dal canale di Gloria Wu. Forza ragazze, fate conoscere Dimash anche in Italia... chissà che magari un giorno non venga anche da noi! ☺
