From what I gathered, this comeback is centered on the fake aspect of the k-pop industry and the associated social media life. Everybody trying to outshine everyone else, building the idea you are super successful (when you are not all that successful), creating drama out of nothing (Handong angrily pushing YooHyeon to the floor, and then helping her up because it was just an act, she's not really mad at her, they are manufacturing drama...). Many people think they have "sold out" when in fact this is a very well thought out concept when you look at it in the spirit it was created.

There is also this whole subplot of "the crown" and somehow luring fans(?) into following the crown and ending up as human sacrifices... it's actually super dark and ties into all the small video snippets before and after the comeback

That part where you talk about long-term fan investment of Dreamcatcher is really important and I appreciated it. K-Pop is a hugely competitive space, especially with all the monster rookies in girl group land that debuted this past year. So it's entirely natural, especially for people who've followed them for almost 7 years, to feel lulls, or even to move on. I'm basically a ride or die fan so I don't have that happening to me, but I totally get why others feel that way. But what's neat is that Dreamcatcher is a long-term group that has sustained themselves, which means they have this massive body of work to draw from and thus a lot of dialogue to have around how new music compares to the old. That's a good thing, as long as the discourse remains respectful. Tons of k-pop groups who've not lasted as long or have the discography DC does would probably kill for the sheer amount of songs DC has released. OOTD is a bold departure from a bunch of what they've done but if you go by what they've been saying about it, they're really excited for that. Regardless of what fans think of their sound this time around, I think it's great they have the freedom to experiment and do new and different - they still have that rock/pop core but doing new things with something distinctly non-traditional in kpop it is why I keep following them.

As long as they never lose their signature rock fusion sound, they can experiment all they want. It'll still be awesome, and they'll still be themselves. The fact that they're so loyal to their musical identity is why I will stan forever.

Its really okay to diverse. And they still have the rock element. They didn't completely change their signature. And about their story telling, it's still there. They are talking about Today's situation (all faking, competing for attention). And to survive in such 5th gen era, I think it's okay to change. Still they didn't disappoint us and provided such headbanger RISING. SHATTER is so addicting. Its a whole package. I don't find much difference between their albums. They have balanced it well.

@@D04444 I absolutely know that the song is satire and social critique , calling out the fake like the insta-people, influencers, industry, etc. But they did so while making it a flex to prove even further their point. DC ain't getting passed me trust me 😅 Album is also called Villains, Villains being "bad" so it's also "baddie" era DC. Been on the DC train since they were Minx, may not be the number 1 InSomnia ( lets face the facts, no one compares to Insomnicsy 😅) but I'm pretty confident in my understanding on Dreamcatcher

i feel like i also only caught 30% of this but on second watch thru i believe this song is a criticism of how perpetuating a life of glamor and hyperconsumerist hyper-individualism has turned people (but especially women) into a type of modern villain(S). the notification pop up that someone translated read something along the lines of "the crown can only shine when the white carpet turns red" which is so eerie and theres a lot of references to a cult alongside lots of social media overlays used throughout the mv as well which instantly makes me think that DC is making a comparison between the relationship of influencers followers/fans of influencers as cultish. Alongside that line, the other asks "do you feel like a monster?" after all those lines about being gorgeous and the best can be interpreted as "saying all these things, do you feel like a monster [for doing that]" or perhaps more so pointing out possibly these figures of social media glamor showcase themselves in this way (hyper curated, constantly flawless) because they are trying to compensate for something, for being a monster. Other scenes I felt struck by this were the scenes cutting from sua posting selfies on her phone somewhere and gahyeon doing model tingz, to her and sua standing in an elevator wearing the same clothes glued to their phones. I feel like this scene was pointing out that as more and more people look up to this kind of media personality alter-egos of themselves the more self-absorbed and isolated from others they become, while also losing their individuality.

After watching this some hundred times already, I believe it is not exactly a 4th wall scene with Dongie and Yootonie. There is a ring bell sound that suggests the fighting round is over and the "teams" come in the ring to prepare the fighters for the next round. I LOVE IT!!!

Structurally it reminds me of Halazia in terms of having a prechorus, then an antidrop kind of thing and then an energetic chorus. Also, focus on the body language of Dongie in the scene where she walks over to Yoohyeon to pull her up. Because The. Hell. That’s walk/posture? My brain chemistry is altered.

I love everything about this comeback, DCC really did the thing in the run up to release and the payoff has been phenominal. Also I adore Dami's lower register when she raps and we get it on 3 of the 4 tracks on the album and I am both exteremely happy and posting this from my grave because that woman is FAR too powerful 💀

This one seems polarizing. You said the last TT that grabbed you was Boca, and I really didn't vibe with Scream or Boca at all, nor did this one hook me. I've been with them since You&I and I'm a big fan of the rock vibes. I've found on albums where they get experimental with the TT they have a b-side to keep us rock enjoyers happy, and in this one it's Rising. Just because something isn't for me doesn't mean I don't hope they're making music they and other fans enjoy.

Ngl, as an Insomnia it took me a while to actually like this song. The structure of the song just confused me, since a lot of the song just sounded like different choruses and pre-choruses, it just messed with my head. I love the song, but there is one thing I dislike about it sadly, which is the way Dami (my bias btw) was rapping. I just didn't like the style, it sounds nothing like her normal rapping voice and I just don't personally enjoy it. Her rap sounds way better when they perform this song live and her mic is actually on, since she doesn't do that weird hushed rap like in the studio version. It's just my preference, this song just isn't doing it for me the way Bon Voyage did this year. I'm still gonna listen to this song a million times though-

It's ok to not like the song but the hate train in Insomnia is going like crazy. 😢 Common, the song is really good. Give it some more listens. It's still punk rock. That lyrics is not flexing lmao. It's straight up narcissism. There is a deep meaning in the mv and lyrics provided the lore they have started a month ago. They're probably villains trying to lure the victims into a game finding the crown (which I believe resembles human ambition). The whole mv is Shasha pov participating in the game and get killed at the end of the mv when she finds the crown.

Siyeon.. and Handong and JiU.. all of them.. Siyeon and the Mustang is my phone background. You at the beginning 🤯😮🫨 was definitely me. Siyeon and then SuA coming in like they did on that beat.. unfair! The song going from Dami to Siyeon to SuA at the beginning is just unfair.. Dami and Siyeon are my biases and SuA is a bias wrecker along with JiU. Handong is my wrecker of wreckers so I basically get no reprieve from the wrecking. This Handong is hitting me like Odd Eye Handong. Bright red hair Siyeon is killing me almost as bad as blonde Siyeon. Blue Yoo is giving Silver Yooh and run. Pink Gah is always welcome. Jiu saying the goddess line is everything.. I always say she is a vampire queen because the woman is so freaking beautiful and must be a goddess or something. I was following all the teasers but even with that knowledge and a crown being involved this is not what I was expecting and I do love it. They wanted polarizing and they got it. They are already charismatic and captivating and then you give them this sound and they just bring another level of swag and confidence. They were excited to try this. Groups have to reinvent to stay relevant because if it’s the same all the time people can tire of it- especially in the KPop industry. So while the song may not sound like “classic” DC it does have the darkness that Dyatopia and Nightmare had for the story and it still has the rock while also being “girl crush” What I took is that OOTD is about fame. What people will do for fame- trend looking/setting, fake drama/fighting, product endorsements, selfie obsession, tic-tok, doing crazy things, Instagram, being influencers. And then doing anything to keep the fame/power “crown” and thus becoming obsessed and villain. Toxic Narcassism is also villain so the “call me a goddess”, “I’m spotless”. It also has the “perfect” that media and even KPop idol industry tries to show. Hence the editing- photoshop, green screen. But social media and such is not always as it seems. There is one pov with one person being kinda of interested and fallowing the “crown” only to see DC and “die”. And then the other that is obsessed with the power of the crown and asking the other pov in the DreamChat if they believe “in the power of the crown”. I find that DC never makes their message easy to understand unless it’s intentional. The lyrics and the vibe are very intentional to fit the message of toxic narcissist, villain, fake. The choreography is Fire, Dami’s rap. The black outfits with that hats are probably my favorite of the comeback. (outside of a particular set of all black from the jacket shoot) I am a ride or die fan so I will support whatever they want to do sound or concept wise. DC will always find away to infuse rock. Even OOTD has some rock infusion even if it’s not how Insomnia expected. I really want this to get a win so they can prove those that doubted this sound/concept wrong. OOTD has become my 8th favorite title track. Piri, Scream, Deja Vu, Boca, Odd Eye, Vision, You and I, OOTD, Maison, Bon Voyage. What I love is that DC and the members of other groups I Stan- Mamamoo and Monsta X are not perfect and it’s that imperfect- the struggles and the overcoming it that makes them perfect.

I don't watch everything from DC anymore bc they've reached a certain level where there are several new things every week when not promoting and while promoting it's several new things every day. 😂 Honestly, my oldest top ults are all still putting out a lot and if I didn't look away momentarily I would miss out on other artists. Having said that...I rely on DC(and Mamamoo!) to put out content that I can enjoy w/o checking K-Pop Profiles to see how old everyone is and that is free from the eternal debates online. I just stock up on content and save it for hard times. OOTD confused me at first. Not thematically but on a production level. At first I thought it was girl crush and it is girl crush but it's more than that. The whole album has a 4th gen bg-esqe production, which isn't something I enjoy very often, with a vocal arrangement that I can't define well but it works somehow. My favorite part of OOTD(aside from Dami's drinking and cursing) is how Handong used her voice. I'm human and I love love love a Handong ballad but she has well and truly improved vocally and frankly it's about damn time DCC let her cook. OOTD isn't my favorite title track but I love it bc a) Dreamcatcher loves it, b) Somnies love it, and c) it's not a diversion from "normal" DC, it's a natural evolution of everything they've done so far. If the gods at DCC are taking requests and trying to show that DC can do any sound or concept then please give me an album with a 3rd gen R&B bg-esqe production and a title track with the same level of addictiveness as Blooming Day. 🙏🏾

Look, in my opinion it seems that when installing or opening the dreamcatcher file they hacked the advertising system. so much so that in the end the system appears corrupted. So much so that it opens a bunch of windows and tabs and notifications on the computer🤫🤫🥰 which gives a dark feel to the video without taking away the rock from the music , I looove it
