Here are the lyrics: Shine through the sky Beyond the matrix Feel what it's like to be divine (to be divine) Shine through the sky Beyond the matrix Feel what it's like To have attained Nirvana Shine past the sky open your mind Then you will be balanced and free Be the master over your own energy Live in this moment like there is no past All that matters is to be who you are Be in this moment judgments will not last Urge yourself again to claim back your life Take a leap into the dark Dare to dive and fall The point of no return restrains us Shine through the sky Beyond the matrix Feel what it's like To reach divinity Aim at the sky open your mind Then you will be balanced and free Be the master over your own energy Shake off oiled feathers leave your past behind Use your inner force to reach your true self When there's no future you can't be occupied By non-essential waste and ruins of the past Recreate your hologram Dare to dive and fall The point of no return restrains us Shine through the sky Beyond the matrix Feel what it's like To have attained Nirvana Shine past the sky open your mind Then you will be balanced and free Be the master over your own energy Someday you'll open up again (To learn and grow) Someday you'll have to reach for new endeavors To perceive your inner self (Perceive your soul) Someday you'll start to live your life Responding with anger Responding with peace The choice is all mine It's a small lie for a man, but a giant blow for mankind We are almighty now We have found the alchemy of life We are all dominant here We are the force in control Shine through the sky Beyond the matrix Feel what it's like To reach divinity Aim at the sky open your mind Then you will be balanced and free Be the master over your life Stay in charge maintain your duty Dive into the sea of pure tranquility We will be finally free

Yessss. My favorite Epica song!!! Speaking as someone who has personally gone beyond the matrix, in that I now see the true reality and have remembered my divine nature, - the matrix as it stands is all an illusion, a hologram - a game of fear. A way to keep you from realizing and acknowledging your own divine power. Love is the one true reality. And it is slowly being revealed, layer by layer. 💜🙏✨

Great reaction and analysis Sabina! Epica is mind-blowing indeed. This song is amazing yet Epica has dozens of songs in this level or higher. You have to check out this one.. Man, Epica have a completely different feel and vibe to their music. This felt at times otherworldly, especially in the chorus. Like everytime the chorus came in it felt like we took a trip through space or something. Their true to their name, cause almost all their songs are totally EPIC. Another song i recommend is "The Second Stone". When i listen to that chorus I get an almost rainy foresty vibe for some reason. And lastly...great reaction!

I love how positive Epica's songs are, the majority of their songs are about overcoming adversity, freedom, liberty and living your best life. I hesitate to compare symphonic metal bands such as Nightwish, Epica and Within Temptation as they are individually unique and bring their own qualities to the world of symphonic metal. Dare I say that Epica have a more visual aspect and maybe more flamboyant than Nightwish and Within Temptation? That’s a very moot point and is only an observation. I love this song and often play it at home…I’m not sure if the neighbours like it though. What a powerful and enigmatic performance…I’m a particular sucker for the visuals. The Epica sound is certainly heavier, which is not a detractor for me. Simones vocals are stand alone and should never be compared to Floor or Sharon from Within Temptation, all three have their own enigmatic style. What a great reaction Sabina to a top quality track. Take a bow.

I hoped somebody would choose to react to this performance. They use backing tracks for sounds of the orchestra and the choir. It was an anniversary concert for which they hired both to perform live. It would be prohibitively expensive to have them touring with the band. The tricky thing is to find the best balance between backing tracks and live instruments + vocals and Epica is mostly able to do it really well. This song is from the seventh album The Holographic Principle that came out in 2016. It was one of the singles. I love how they are jumping up and down on the stage, even though I am not sure I would be able to play any instrument while jumping. :-D There is another song that came from this particular concert at Zenith (excluding "Consign to Oblivion") which is called "Dancing In A Huriccane" in which you can hear Simone´s delivery of some lower notes.

Epica has characterized their work as "metal hymns". Let that sink in. Sabina, have you ever head of Thomas Bergersen of Two Steps from Hell? He has been characterized as a modern Beethoven. But, like Tuomas Holopainen of Nightwish, he is so much more than that. Check out Myth (kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y3eQgn2deJiff5o) It's 8 minutes long and it is magnificent. That's a whole other rabbit hole.

Can someone confirm that is Issac singing at 6:50? The line is "We are all dominant here " and I point it out entirely to mention that Issac should sing more -- he is the dark contrast, that is darker than Mark and that feels like fertile ground for grand expression. More Issac 😊

Hi Sabina, I see a number of people already gave suggestions for other Epica songs, generally the most popular songs. So instead, let me give you a different suggestion. As you put so much weight on good lyrics, I sugges you should check out the song "Serenade of Self-Destruction" in the live version from the Retrospect concert kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y5m6aHicnqeqo5I I'm sure you will appreciate the lyrics, but the song in itself is also great. It's much darker than Beyond the Matrix and it is a bit like a rollercoaster ride with mix of heavy and light passages. It also has a strong oriental vibe, I thing which Epica uses in a number of their songs.
