Here's the lyrics!! 😍 We're blind and eager Avarice will set us back to blank Those who wager all will have to name a reason (If you can't let go) You will end up empty handed (If you can't control) You'll live your life in vain Who decides about my time to come? Who is able to break through the circle of life and doom? Don't look back Keep on track to break the curse Take the chance Design your universe We can't undo what we have done So show us now what we've become Confront us with our viciousness And our weakness We can't evade our destiny So show responsibility For we all surely have a sense Of our consciousness To take for taking's sake Will leave a path of loss and strain And endless breaking of faith can warrant acts of treason (If you can't let go) You will end up empty handed (If you can't control) You'll live your life in vain Who decides about what's true or false? Who is able to sift through the treasures from the flukes? Don't look back Keep on track to break the curse Take the chance Design your universe We can't undo what we have done So show us now what we've become Confront us with our viciousness And our weakness We can't evade our destiny So show responsibility For we all surely have a sense Of our consciousness The time has come We have to see That total wisdom is in reach The time has come to colour in the lines We must identify the signs So many people are full of hate While love and light are in their reach So many people will harm themselves But life can be so beautiful So many people will idolise While their own success is in their reach Don't forget you're able to Design your own universe Find your balance Sink into rumination Ipsum te reperies Potire mundorum Potire omnis mundi We can't undo what we have done So show us now what we've become Confront us with our viciousness And our weakness We can't evade our destiny So show responsibility For we all surely have a sense Of our consciousness Can't undo Show us now Confront us We're the weakness Can't evade Show us how We have our sense

Simone's voice is mesmerizing in this song. Can you believe this was at the end of a 3-hour concert she did pregnant? Massive respect. The whole band and orchestra are great as well of course BTW this was also the following song after Sancta Terra I suggest to continue with songs from this show, won't be disappointed Chasing the Dragon for instance

Probably my favourite song by this band, which is saying something given their amazing library of tracks, this song embodies symphonic metal, this is the stunning outcome of meshing this incredible array of instruments, vocals and sounds into a single unified whole which is exponentially greater than the individual, already incredible, parts.

Finally one of my favourite reactors reacts to my favourite band! Your a soulful person, Epica will fit like a glove! They are spiritual, they have songs that are like white magic rituals. Lyrics are deep, often have concepts from both spiritual and occult traditions as well as just common sense and folk wisdom. The kind of band the world needs in 2021. Regarding the growling, Mark often says some hard truths, then Simone will soften the blow. It's like a masculine and a feminine take on the same message. Recommendation: Kingdom of Heaven part 1, the live one with lyrics from Mexico.

Hi Sabina, regarding the lyrics, this is a common theme throughout all of their music, the majority of their songs are about Freedom, Liberty and living your best life, I love this band

One of my favourite Epica songs, I love just everything about it. I've always been impressed with the lyrics of their songs, even when they were very young they had substance.

This song along with Reverence (Living in the Heart), Storm the Sorrow, and a few of their other tracks have been part of what's gotten me through some seriously dark times. If you don't mind likely crying your eyes out, go listen to the album version (I don't know of many really good quality live recordings) of both Tides of Time and Feint. My dearest friend from high school passed away in her sleep at 40 years old a couple of years ago and those two helped immensely even if they still make me cry every single time. Thanks for a great video and have a fabulous weekend!

I shared a similar comment to Henning, so glad to see I am not alone I discovered Epica in early COVID lockdown, and the "We can't evade our destiny" and "show responsibility" lines hit hard at that time Thanks for the reaction, if you want more Epica growling go for Consign to Oblivion (Live Zenith) or more heartfelt Rivers (visualiser) from the new album or Tides of Time (tissues may be required for that)

The one thing you can't replicate with a recording is that Timpani drum going off live. Most of the sound is directed downward but, hey, you FEEL those if you're close enough.

Hi Sabina, I’m sure you will also like “Chasing the Dragon” from the same concert. It is almost (but not quite) a ballad. As the song moves forward, it allows Simone to go through her different registers and really allows her to shine. It is not as bombastic as “Design your Universe”, but it is very beautiful kzbin.info/www/bejne/eqmQd6Z-drZ7ppo In case you don’t know the expression “chasing the dragon”, you will find the explanation here: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chasing_the_dragon

Oh wow, I haven't listened to this one in a long time! A lot of their newer material is written from the quantum perspective of the universe. Their albums "The Holographic Principle" and "The Quantum Enigma" are perfect examples of that. My personal favorite song of theirs is from THP and it's called "Beyond The Matrix". It embodies a lot of my own personal beliefs about life and the universe. 💜🙏✨

I've never found epica to be a band I can sit and listen too. Not really sure why, obviously super talented but I find them at times a little disjointed. I wish I enjoyed them more but I absolutely can appreciate their talent
@bobgamble82043 жыл бұрын
Oh and the male growl - absolutely hate it, maybe that's one of the reasons I can't take to them. A fair few heavier bands do it, more extreme than this its true but I don't find it at all musical, Jinjer I know is popular but likewise can't listen to it at all, it doesn't sit well with my ears

Epica is amazing, but there are more great Dutch metalbands. You should definitly check out "Dear Mother" With their debut album "Bulletproof". They are a new dutch metalband formed by ex-Delain guitarist Merel Bechtold and ex-Delain drummer Joey de Boer. They teamed up with David "Pear" Hruska as their vocalist. Its realy worthwhile! I recently found them and bought the album right away, they're incredible! kzbin.info/www/bejne/nYamiGWZlq1jpM0
