"What happens to the little girl?" My interpretation is she is leading him to the light. That is his real life daughter.
@zeromatica4 жыл бұрын
It’s his daughter. In all his videos / recent songs it’s his way of showing his battle with depression and past addiction. She has been a rock for him and anytime he feels like he’s losing control she’s always there to bring him back to reality and settle him back down. Hence why he was the werewolf type thing and then back to normal when she grabs hold of him. She’s always there for him and him for her.

I agree with her being the light..as you notice in the video she is next to him, then afterwards she standing by the doorway that's emanating bright light. That's a metaphor in itself that I think many people and all reactors i've watched have missed.

“I’m a liar, I’m a cheater, I’m a non believer” is what other people call Ronnie because he is a pretty controversial person. The metaphor is all these people attacking him and calling him these things, it pushes him to the edge and turning him into what they think he is, a “Popular Monster”. If that makes sense

When I first heard this, I started crying because of how relatable it is. I feel numb every day, and sometimes when I check the mail, I cross the road not caring if a car hits me. It’s hard to describe. I’m trying my best to be more open about it. This song has helped me a lot.

This will be somewhat of a lengthy comment, sorry lol... First of all, FANTASTIC breakdown of the song. One of the best and most astute reactions I've seen on it. You even picked up on things you didn't even realize, such as the name of the band. They used to be a lot more poppy back in the day. You wanted my sub brother, you got it. Next up, just to get this part out of the way, has to be the trilogy. I'll be very much looking forward to see if you catch the way the story weaves together between them on your first time through. In order: Losing My Mind, Losing My Life, Drugs. (very important, watch them to the very end.) After those, I also highly suggest The Drug In Me is Reimagined, which is the reimagining of one of their songs from 2011, The Drug In Me is You. If possible, watch them back to back so you have context on the pretty significant differences between the two. This will also let you hear him a decade ago to see just how much the music has changed. Now, to answer a couple things from this video for ya: Yes, the tattoos are real. He's super inked up. Also, the little girl is actually his daughter, Willow. She's popped up in his songs periodically over the last few years, generally as the anchor bringing him back to reality in the narrative, which is sort of what you saw here. Also, don't be surprised if Ronnie reacts to your reaction... he does that on his stream from time to time. ;) I think that's it for now. Have a good one, stay safe, and definitely keep up the good work here!
@ROOKCAST4 жыл бұрын
Wow.. first off, thank you so much for taking the time to type this out. I’m really happy my breakdown is being received well by the hardcore fans of the band, it’s always nerve-racking reacting to something completely new because you have no context for anything. So I truly appreciate that you liked it. Second, I love the insight here. Like I said in the video, I definitely want to react to more of their stuff because this one was phenomenal. I think doing something like a series of reactions on the “trilogy” would be the best place to start. I really want to understand the band more because they clearly have so much depth to them. Thank you for answering the tattoos and little girl questions!! I assumed it was someone important but I had no way to know for sure. I love that she brings him back to reality at the end. Also, I can’t imagine how long those tattoos took in the chair 🤣

Rook Reacts as someone who has been on both sides of the spectrum, it’s 100% true on how someone so broken would come to the conclusion of crashing just to feel anything. That’s pure numbness. it’s just… pure inspiration, ugh. i couldn’t even tell you how many times i’ve heard his song and/or watched the music video… it’s actually inspired a lot of poems in my collection, too. lots of ronnie’s songs have. on days i feel like shit, i’ll just read through the musics and i’ll feel comforted, lol. “every single fucking day i get closer to the grave, i’m terrified, i fell asleep at the wheel again, crashed my car just to feel again” i legit SOBBED the first time i heard that. this is teaching me on so many planes. strangely enough, this is so comforting to me.🥰 kinda wanna go write some poetry now after months and months of ‘creative malfunction’, lol. thank you for these videos.🤍

The 'three songs at once' is exactly how my depression of 30 years makes me feel. One voice telling me to do something, one saying there's no point because I won't see it through and the last one telling me to you-know-what. I would not still be here without this sort of music. It just absorbs all the darkness and pain and hopelessness from my soul and lets me smile again.

I watch a LOT of reaction videos to this song because I really enjoy seeing how much enjoyment people get and the ride they take through all the facets of the song - but this one is my absolute, hands down, favorite reaction. Your video is over a year old now (so this comment is a little late) but the way you really listened and broke down the lyrics, as WELL as watching the video and trying to put it all together is not something everyone does. Most importantly, it's always wonderful to hear someone be open to discussing their own struggles as you did, as well as seeing someone pick up on such hard-hitting lines as "crashed my car just to feel again". Great reaction 👍👍 Definitely earned a sub

Talking about the line "Crashed my car just to feel agian," you're spot on. A few years back I was in a dead-end job with terrible managers and a terrible atmosphere that utterly obliterated all sense of self-worth and value I had, made me cynical and hateful, and burned up all of my patience. There were many days driving home from work where I would think "...you know, I could just crash my car right now, and maybe then I'd feel some kind of meaningful...something..." That line blew my mind the first time I heard it.

I connect to this song on many levels bc like ronnie I suffer depression. The part about crashing his car just to feel again is actually coming from a depression point where some people during a depressed state start to feel numb emotionally n sometimes physically that they cause themselves physical pain just to feel something again n not be numb. This song is soo relatable to so many people n I for one love it to death 😍

This is a great breakdown of these lyrics!! His lyrics and vocal abilities are what always drew me to his music, and you breaking down the lyrics in a mental health prospective- that made me really happy to see an empathetic interpretation that focused on the content. Some of the reactions I've seen haven't shown the kind of understanding of the words being stated in these lyrics-beyond a surface level of acknowledging good lyrics. He just has so much emotion between his lyrics and his vocals that I love to hear another person recognize and break that down to the depth it is at! "Crashed my car just to feel again" got the feels when you pointed out that lyric.. Did not realize that was the lyric till now.. Does that mean to break out of autopilot mode? 🤔

9:30 its call of the void. I get it constantly. I drive 2 hours to and from work everyday and the feeling is real. You're not alone.

"that thought" has definitely been there...But I have two kids and I would never leave them no matter how dark the times get! They are my light and I'm going to keep being the best version of myself for them! ✨

I feel like to fully understand the lyrics you need to know is history. His first band broke up when he went to prison and struggled with drugs. After he was released he formed falling in reverse. In the beginning they struggled because of his past the band wasn't thought of highly even though their music was good. He was see as a monster because of his past and it was something he really struggled with and the only light at the end of the tunnel for him was his daughter. She grounded him and brought him back to reality as seen in the video. It really reflects a lot of what he went through during his career as an artist.

Couple of years ago...he was the lead singer of "Escape the Faith" got to some trouble..unfortunately landed him in jail...came fresh out with "falling in reverse". I love all his new songs but Popular Monster is MY all time favorite...love everything about it. And Yes that is his beautiful art all over him. And, that little girl..is his beautiful daughter Willow...his faith, his clear path..his light to his new beginning of life. ❤❤

Hey, man! Great reaction! Greetings from new Russian subscriber! This song is REALLY relatable for me because I went through almost the same things, Ronnie sing in this song. From August 2019 till January 2020 I go through strong depression, when I almost wanted to end myself. I don't wanna do anything and don't wanna see anyone. It was the half an year, with the most struggles.... heaviest shit in my life. And it was the main reason, why I declared 2020 the year when I start to change myself both mentally and physically. And I want to admit, that's to this day I almost turned myself upside down and changing myself from depressed "non-believer" to an actual person who can describe themselves as an a bit ignorant to the problems but still happy man))) Have a two suggestions for ya, from Japan SiM - Who's Next. Band plays a mix of ska punk, Reggae rock and post-hardcore, and Crossfaith - Monolith. They plays in metalcore/electronicore genre. Hope you enjoy it)))

Hi Rook - poppin in to watch your reaction to Popular Monster ... my favorite part to watch is when Ronnie "becomes" the monster. Your face was just as priceless as all the others who have reacted to this one. Great reaction with a genuine ear for the words and the little nuances in the song. And I am sure you already know by now those are really his tattoos and the little girl you showed concern for is his daughter Willow. Keep up the great work. Much love and respect from Kansas. 🤘🏻💗🌻🤘🏻

The crashing his car part and how you related to it, is exactly how I related to it. You're not the only one who has thought about it.

(sorry for any mistakes, I'm Greek and not a native English speaker) That sudden erge towards self destruction, like crashing your car, or feeling like you want to jump when you stand on a high place is actually a common theme in psychology. It's called "L'appel du vide" (french for "the call of the void") and is believed to be experienced by most people at least once in their life, with no apparent reasoning. To be clear, this only applies as valid reasoning if the person doesn't have pre existing self destructive tendencies. So, I don't think it applies for this song and Ronnie per se, but it could offer some context for the experience you described having felt before at 9:15 . It's really interesting if you think about it. Awesome reaction, and great breakdown man!

That’s an interesting. I’m going to look that up because I’d like to know more about that psychological phenomenon. And thanks!! I really appreciate that 🙌🏻

Omg, I never realised “Crash my car” was the lyrics. That explains why I often get the urge to just yank my steering wheel randomly! I get it now. I always though it said “crush my god” 😂

I'm a big falling in reverse fan back from ronnie's stint with escape the fate. I knew he was talented but this song showcases his unreal abilities. It is like multiple songs in one and he blends them together seamlessly.

Not the only one feel that stuff or do that stuff mate. Your the first reaction I. Seen out of 20 who actually talked about the content of the lyrics which are by far the most import song to be released in a long long time. With the state of young men's head space they'd days this song is increadble

As people have said here, the little girl is his daughter. How I interpret her appearance in this video I see it as her saving him. He repeats the line "I'm searching for a way out" in the song and if you notice, she shows him to a door with a bright light inside of it. That, I would guess, is the "way out". So she is essentially leading him to the path that can save him from the perpetual loop of darkness, struggle, and hardship that he seems to have been stuck in. Nobody else could help him and instead had the opposite effect. Like the therapist for example. Only ever making things worse leading him back to becoming the beast he was trying not to be.

Thank you for finally pointing out that line. “ I crashed my car just to feel again. First reaction video I seen that actually felt the impactful of that line. I mean, if that’s not actually for help, I don’t know what is. I think most of us can relate to doing something along that line. Just silently screaming for help.

First thing you realised was quite correct, the entire song is in first person perspective. That is why it is so popular to so many people who consider themselves...

This band was the entire reason I went to my first warped tour. They are my 'pick me up' band for when I'm sad. Loved the reaction! Also fun timbit : He had many of his tats covered over a short time cuz they were things he had gotten when he was younger I think.

The "popular monster" IS depression. The whole song is a metaphor for depression. Some of us suffer all our lives and can never explain it. This song explaines it perfectly. I'm 63 with this angst in my head...
