REACTION TO Faouzia & Zhang Jie (张杰) - Shallow (Live on Singer 2024 EP12) | FIRST TIME HEARING

It’s so funny that Faouzia was on a winning streak for the past 11 challenges, and now she got #4. As far as the songs, Faouzia selected two different songs (her own), but the show kept rejecting the songs. She was gonna sing Minefields in this challenge, but got replaced with Shallow.

She won this challenge, and she sang another original song RIP, Love. She played an instrument, It was fabulous. ❤

Faouzia summed it up "It's OK". The teaming up with Zhang Jie was to her eventual advantage. No one performing in this series was in it to start their career. They are all established front-line performers and this was an opportunity to showcase their talent over a long playing series of episodes (12). While in China, Faouzia performed (full set list) at two major festivals where she referred to herself as "YaYa", the name her Chinese fans call her. She also toured with her family and was greeted on the street by new Chinese fans. Then to top it off she shot a new video for a new song (ICE) in Shanghai with Chinese dancers and backup and dropped the video while she was there. In addition she sang the theme song for a new Chines movie and performed in Mandarin for a large stadium audience at Mango TV’s Youth Night. She was correct to say it was OK... she got the highest recognition for a foreign participant, opened the door very wide for her to return and grow her career in China and added measurably to her marketability in China. From a career perspective she grew her career and from a business perspective she made all the right moves. Who needs to win a show title when you win the hearts of the audience. In a highly competitive industry she won on all fronts and I imagine she will get invited back in future shows as the guest star (like Dimash, Adam Lambert, and others) where she can get further acknowledgement. She displayed talent, graciousness, likeability, and all in a well spoken, humble, attractive person. This woman knows how to be “a self” that is wanted on all fronts. Teaming up with Zhang Jie was the icing on the cake... it showed she could perform with him in a manner compatible with Chinese pop and I'm sure she will be getting invitations, with Chinese post marks on them, to perform throughout China. Faouzia requested Dimash for her duet partner but the producers said they wanted a Chinese partner for her to strengthen Canadian/Chinese relations. Dimash explained this morning on Weibo that he apologised to Faouzia for not being able to sing with her and the reasons why.

@@luckypanda998 yes, he posted a video on Weibo this morning explaining what he said to her because everyone had misinterpreted his admittedly poor English so he wanted to clear up the confusion.

The show chose Jason for Faouzia “to strengthen Chinese-Canadian culture relations.” What were they doing with pairing Dimash with Chante? Strengthening Kazakh/USA cultural relations?? If so, that’s fantastic for Dimash’s future. (But to me the logic doesn’t follow)

they didnt let her sing her song , minefields, they rejected many of her songs .

They knew damn well Minefields would’ve changed everything (although she still won in this round)

So maybe looking at it that way it was a set up. They didn’t let her sing songs that that would’ve guaranteed to win. Even though I’m happy with what she did sing.

@Rosannasfriend it's very clear that if she was able to perform one of her best songs she would have won without further discussion, making her choose her least known , and vocally impressive song is a way to set the way to others to winner , she deserved better for sure !

The original choice was "Minefields" and "Hero" Everything changed on the day before the show. They probably only rehearsed it once.

Unfair and a waist of her talent she gave the show a ground breaking performance after performance but still they took her trophy away just because she is not Chinese thats a disgrace!

If they won’t give it to non Chinese artists then they shouldn’t host them in the show in the first place!
