Swearing by saying "satan's (something)" is like the Finnish equivalent of saying "fucking-", like fucking hell or fucking idiot, it's for emphasis more than anything

The unspoken rule is that if you are so slow that the next guy catches up, you should let them past. There is no official rule, and no one wants to lose time but.. one must be quite an ahole to stay in front this long. I get that they were fairly close to finish but our dude probably lost half a minute there.
@shindoukyouki9 ай бұрын
The drivers go onto the road one by one, and theres multiple cars on the track at the same time, so sometimes a faster car behind catches up to the front car either because its just slower, or has a mechanical issue. Normally the order which they go in is set by qualifying rounds to put the fastest drivers first so the slower ones cant block the way like that for them.
@squidcaps43089 ай бұрын
The road conditions also change, the first guys usually are at disadvantage, then the road gets gradually better. All the loose stones are removed, and there is a nice "rut" that can steer the car for you. And then it gets gradually worse. It does make the race weekends more exciting, those with a chance to win get closer together.

In this case the white car had a mechanical issue, but couldn't give way because of the snow.

Chimpanzee (simpanssi) isn't very common insult in Finland, but in that situation it was very well working :D
@Garbox809 ай бұрын
I use it when I think someone is being utterly stupid, mostly in regards of manners. I mean chimps can throw their own poo etc. which from human perspective is a no go. I know some use it for racist speech, but for me it doesn't matter where the person is from. All equal here. In fact, I'd say most of the times it's fellow Finn getting this "honorary" title 😂

Satan is a common swear word but the meaning is rarely pondered upon. Satan's shit would be like saying "effing shit" but just like you don't really mean having coitus with excrements, we aren't really thinking of Lucifer's droppings

This is not WRC rally. I think this is from something domestic (finnish) series.
@MikkoRantalainen9 ай бұрын
As a Finn, the subtitles were accurate. Thought the driver used more swear words but all of those were translated to "fuck" or "fucking". If you can imagine more profane language than "fuck", you can imagine that for half the words in the subtitles. I would assume the original situation was caused by some driver spinning on the road and next driver catching him and instead of letting this driver to pass, keep driving with slower speed in front of him. Basically "I already destroyed my hopes for this rally so I'm going to destroy the rally for other drivers, too".

The s-word used here is quite commonly used as the f-word in English. So a more equivalent translation would be f-ing chimpanzee. Finns don't take that word so literally in this context, it's just a swear word. Well, you're not doing that to the chimpanzee either.

Looks more like "romuralli" race which would translate to "demolition derby". So more like an amateur division. Professional rally cars are a lot more sleak than that and have a lot more of horses in the engine.

He probably wasn't driving for any major car brand, so he could let it all out. Might have been some random car on a wrong road. And there are slower drivers, mishaps and technical problems in rallying, which lead to situations like that. Also on top level: "When WRC Overtaking Goes Wrong". And there are top level meltdowns too: "The All Time Greatest Rallying Meltdowns".

This has been told, I guess on the original vodeo's commenta, that the Escort was having technical problems. Why they didn't let the other driver pass at some point (there were a few spots wide enough), I don't know.
