It used to be even more popular, I'd say the 80s and 90s Sweden reached peak comedy, since then it's been declining severely, but still some semblance of humor exists in Sweden to this day. I'd personally say that for pure comedy, the 90s humor group killinggänget made the best humor, it was over the top, and NileCity105,6 was the best humor show ever created. It spawned our greatest comedic talents, like Robert Gustafsson, Johan Rheborg, Henrik Schyffert... etc. And the best characters in Swedish TV History, such as the roles portrayed by Robert Gustafsson; Fred Asp and the ferret Göran, Greger Hawkwind... or Glenn Killing(Henrik Schyffert) or Percy Nilegård(Johan Rheborg)... Then we had the more surrealistic Galenskaparna och After Shave... And these days we have Grotesco, but still, I wouldn't say that anyone is as loved or appreciated as Robert Gustafsson is, after all he is our greatest Comedian, and a great singer. Other than that, we had Robert Broberg, a lyrical genius and a musical comedian before it really was popularized, I mean not the first one, as that's American Tom Lehrer, from which the term Tomfoolery comes from. I'd say that while we enjoy Satire in Sweden, I'd say our sense of humor has truly worsened with the years, however despite knowing the name of over 50 Swedish comedians, I'd say that our Comedy is lackluster, and while we used to have the world's darkest sense of humor, these days our sense of humor is borderline can't joke about anything, especially nothing that is inherently funny. But the true geniuses of Swedish entertainment, were Hasse Andersson and Tage Danielsson. And I guess most people born before the 80s would agree with that statement.

I'm not gay, queer or anything but really straight. But everytime I hear some people giving really simple silly explanations to societal problems, I just respond -"Well it's all because of gay people!" It's the epitomy of silly stupid reasoning, and every halfwhit in Sweden knows this song.😄 Sadly, this song is like 10 or 14 years old, and Putin and other people actually sincerely suggest gay people are a danger to society. So this comedy, takes on a very real and sinister mening in 2023. (The Grotesco humor group also made an introductory parody song to teh Russian contribution to the Europen song festival about that same time, which actually made the Russian embassy complain to the foreign department. As if the department has any influence over television in Sweden?!! This ain't Putin's Russia!

This is such a perfect satire about how we blame other groups of people out of fear 🙂 Sweden is a very grounded and satirical in their thinking kind of people, most people here think it is just silly that anyone would even care about what sexual or religious orientation another person has, they are just people, let them do with their free time or feel how they want as long as no1 else gets hurt 🙂 Unfortunately that open attitude has faltered a bit since the former nazi party "Sweden democrats" was voted in the parliament, but most people here still have the "live and let live" attitude

The song is very true to when gospel music found its way into white churches. Kudos to whoever translated this, it was really well done to get rhyming in while keeping at least 90% of the message and connotations.

A great song from a great tv show. I have felt it was a bit of a homage to one of the earliest comedy groups. Well, two groups actually Galenskaparna och After Shave. They made a lot of great shows and movies in the late 80ies and early 90ies. And the one I think Grotesko made an homage to is from the movie "Hajen som viste för mycket" or "The shark who knew to much". The movie pokes fun at the stock traders' newly rich yuppies of that era. The song is called "Himmelen har skänkt oss alibi" or "The Heavens has granted us alibi". It's a fraternity of these people singing about how the problems in the world have nothing to do with them because, you guessed it, they have an alibi. I have included two links to it, one is a clip from he movie, and as you can see its fairly similar both in style and tone. kzbin.info/www/bejne/bX-kq5mOaMufoNU The other is just the audio from the group's youtube: kzbin.info/www/bejne/q6WwZ56EoqqKm9k I hope you enjoy it =)

This is a satire of evangelical christians specifically. Sweden had a state church all the way from the reformation up until very recently. The state church "Svenska kyrkan" as they are still called, have been quite progressive and accept gay priests as well as performing gay weddings. The evangelical movement is Sweden is a whole topic in itself, but I'll give a quick summary: "Frikyrkor" (free churches, or free congregations) are religious congregations that started to emerge in the late 1800's and were allowed to separate from the the state church in the early 1900's The free congregations come in the usual flavours ranging from pretty lame to outright doomsday cults, and some of them, especially the pentacostals, are quite inspired by the white evangelical movement in the USA.

The independent church is the one that is mocked in this video. The independent churches is usually more extrem in their point of views. And the way they music is reminds much how their music is. Today Sweden is a country that become overly pc. That makes it even more funny. The irony in this is genius

I don't know if you notice the pastor and the small boy almost at the end. The pastor sings about his neck hurting from looking to long at the computer. Then the pastor is standing with the boy. Look how he's touches the boy.

Curious, did you catch the Priests "look" and how he stroked the kids shoulder? That hint/joke is so satire and perfect in the song/video. Also the guy in the front, the "priest", is just bald, haha.

Honestly, I would just recommend you to watch “Spader Madame” by Hasse & Tage if you enjoyed this. They were the absolute KINGS of combining amazing songs and political satire. That one in particular is fun because of the music, which is all (I believe?) Schubert with new lyrics. Highly recommend pretty much anything by them though, but that one is one of underrated genius. 🤩
