Sonneborn is probably THE German personification of Satire for me and while Georg Schramm and Volker Pispers are top of the class, Sonneborn is in his own league. He is even more dry, even more relentless and crazy committed to his craft. His speeches in the European Parliament are rife with sarcasm and his 'reports' (which are very much akin to a regular news show segment from Brussels) are incredibly hard-hitting.

Martin Hans Sonneborn (* 15. Mai 1965 in Göttingen) ist ein deutscher Satiriker, Journalist und Politiker (Die PARTEI). Er ist seit der Gründung der Partei Die PARTEI Parteivorsitzender und seit 2014 ist er Mitglied des Europäischen Parlaments. Martin Hans Sonneborn (born 15 May 1965 in Göttingen) is a German satirist, journalist and politician (Die PARTEI). He has been the party leader of Die PARTEI since it was founded and has been a member of the European Parliament since 2014.

Just a reminder: "Sunday 9 June 2024 is the date of the European election in Germany." (eletions.europa.eu) I already cast my vote via letter (Briefwahl). This time, my decision was as clear as never before, so I voted early.

He also has a YT channel, where he reports sarcastically from the inside of the EU parliament, as he is an MEP. I'll vote for him again, this year.

This also shows the german mentality itself. Tell them you are send by an official body and this is a new law. They will do everything you want them to. Still very obidient😂

This is not too far removed from the actual privacy concerns that the Germans had in 2010. These outcries caused Google Street View to pull its service in Germany.

@@z33r0now3 They did back then, they only had footage from a few major cities and some spill coverage at the borders. They only did actual full Germany coverage last year.

@@z33r0now3 Schön für dich Münchner, das ändert aber nichts dran dass auch bei dir Münchner die Aufnahmen von 2008 oder so waren und nie erneuert wurden und wir anderen gar keine Coverage hatten. Der Service - die Google-Autos die Aufnahmen machen - wurden nämlich gepulled. Daran ändert auch die Tatsache dass die bestehenden Aufnahmen von zB München noch zugänglich waren nichts.

@@z33r0now3 Nö, wir haben nur sehr unterschiedliche Definitionen was "pulled the service" heißt, mal abgesehen davon dass ich das nicht geschrieben hatte, ich hatte nur zugestimmmt, und in meiner Zustimmung selbst gesagt dass es noch Coverage von ein paar großen Städten gab. Wer labert hier wen voll?

I would also recommend the new show from Nico semsrott. He was also a member of the European Parliament and talks about how intransparent the EU is from the inside.

Back in 2010 Google made Pictures of the World for Street View... the world? No, there was one country in the world, where they started and faced so much resistance, that they stopped very soon. Only parts of the biggest Towns were then available, after everybody had the chance to request anonymisation by pixelation of the house he owns or lives in... There was quite some outrage over "that US Company taking photos of my house without asking me to put them online", because "why would they do that? That makes no sense, only Burglars can use this!". It was a right-wing media-campaign. Luckily we now have GDPR and Google updates and extends Street View in Germany, but if you zoom out to see Germany and the countrys around with Street View, you can still see where Germany is by the lower density of Street View.

It was utterly ridiculous. Of all Google's services, Street View is probably the least intrusive.

That people fell for this and are so trusting and let them inside their houses taking photos! I would not even open the door if I dont know the person and if I dont expect anyone. Unbelievable. Now I get how so many people are easily scammed by criminals. :(

Oh, yeah, I remember that Google Street View thing here in Germany, even owners of city flats wanted to have THEIR flat pixelated. In a building that looked like painted concrete anyway and all the balconies looked the same, so what the ...? While on the other hand not being able to read a road map and relying on nav systems when driving which in turn rely on Google Maps. That's the German understanding of modern technology, and when you don't know whether to laugh or cry, write a satire. Well done, Martin Sonneborn!

Martin Sonneborn, Former chief Redakteur of the german print satire magazine TITANIC. He founded a Party, to be vote in germany and the EU. Die PARTEI. He is still full of satire, sitting in the eu-parliament. I will vote for him again. The TITANIC never sinks. Satire has made it to a Parliament which we voted.😂

This reminded me of a very old video by a guy called Alexander Lehmann. It's titled "X3: Buugle - was Google kann können wir schon lange!". It's an animation he actually made for extra 3 a long time ago. He also made several other very good satirical animations.

Yeah, Sonneborn wouldn't be at heute-show anymore. He was a comedy writer and he founded a satirical party, but he lost all his humour when Ukraine had the audacity to fight back. I am very sure he's also lashing out against Olli Welke, who very vocally defends Ukraines right to self-defence. Sad, but true. Sonneborn has become a defender of a dictator.

I feel like he's using a webcam to capture the video. The video quality is very different between every video and highly dependent on the lighting in the room, since I don't feel like he's using any ring lights. Just a very basic setup.
