And yes you did found something amazing. Keyakizaka46 is a group that sold million copies in a single album and sold more than 6 million album sales. The only K-pop group that could beat their total sales is Twice, and the reason for that is because of their JAPANESE albums.

Does album sales mean the level and impact of the group? Some J-pop groups beat BTS, Lady Gaga, Taylor Swift, and Billy Eilish with their album sales. Album consumption per capita is highest in Japan, a backward country in IT, and your jpop is in no demand outside Japan except for Japanese and a few weebs.

You want the level and the impact of the group to generate revenue to sustain the group and the company, whether it's sponsors or physical/digital album sales. That's how business work if you don't know. You also contradicts how the number of album sales in K-pop is currently on the rise as well, which is basically implying actually apart from a few groups like BTS, Twice, BP, SVT, IZ*ONE, SNSD etc... other K-pop groups with sales doesn't have much impact as well, and basically K-pop is held up by only a few groups, if we go by your logic. J-pop doesn't really need outside demand because it's able to sustain itself and that's why it's still in the top 3 music market. Saying "my J-pop" is funny because I'm a K-pop fan. I'm just not xenophobic and learn to appreciate other cultures and their music.
