As a musiscian, Brittens arrangement of the National Anthem is for me inspired, quiet start, a few small inner part changes that add so much,in a word, it takes me somewhere else. Jerusalem is ...............well if it doesn't get to you.............what will. Your reaction......great.

Our national anthem is beautiful... it sounds different now we have a king. She was here for so long, it was like losing a grandmother ❤❤

The Britten arrangement of the Anthem has always been a favourite of mine. Also if I remember correctly, 'Jerusalem' was an unofficial anthem of the women's institute.

Scatter his enemies and make the fall that is the biggest part that is only sung but the armed forces or at wartime for the public

Hi my dear... wow, that was really beautfull arranged... both parts ! As far as the English National Anthem is concerned, I personally liked the first part the most... the quieter part with only the choir singing. But apart from that, it was really beautiful. And your reaction to it was no surprise to me, I knew this would touch you abd you'rfe going to love this performance... and I was right ! Your reaction was everything ! Now on to my siggestion from Herbert Grönemeyer ! Hugs and kisses from your dear friend Gerry PS : I would love to see you react to classical music one day ! I could provide you with TONS of material. I know that the music will reach your soul and touch you the same way this video, or the videos by Pavarotti did.

THIS IS MAGNIFECENT! AND TIMELESS ‘Jerusalem’ tells of the legend that Jesus might have travelled to Glastonbury. Picture: Alamy What are the lyrics to ‘Jerusalem’? And did those feet in ancient time Walk upon England's mountains green? And was the holy Lamb of God On England's pleasant pastures seen? And did the Countenance Divine Shine forth upon our clouded hills? And was Jerusalem builded here Among these dark Satanic mills? Bring me my bow of burning gold: Bring me my arrows of desire: Bring me my spear: O clouds unfold! Bring me my chariot of fire. I will not cease from mental fight, Nor shall my sword sleep in my hand Till we have built Jerusalem In England's green and pleasant land. Read more: What are the lyrics to ‘God Save the Queen’ - and who composed it? Is ‘Jerusalem’ England’s national anthem? ‘God Save the Queen’ is the national anthem for the UK, and it is often also used for England. But ‘Jerusalem’ has become an unofficial second national anthem and is often used by England at sporting fixtures, such as the Commonwealth Games, where each of the home nations is represented separately. When it was composed, King George V was monarch and as legend has it, His Majesty remarked that he preferred Parry’s melody to the actual national anthem for Britain.

Personally, I find God Save The King very uninspiring - I would live to have Jerusalem as the English national anthem - especially as the other parts of Great Britain have their own really beautiful anthems!
