Joosts show is like, Chapter 1 = have fun. Chapter 2 = go wild and become one. And after building this relationship with his audience. Chapter 3 kicks in and he shares his sad story. He really build a relationship with everyone in one show. It's amazing

The English translation of flordia 2009(not a perfect translation): There you stand, at the cremation of your dad After all those times of running away You stand still and you think This is never vla* again Never vla in front of the TV again never together again Never watching DWDD** together again Never dancing in the house again And never hits with a fist again (fistbump) Maybe it was wrong But I miss us, I miss home There you stand, at the cremation of your mom Crying faces everywhere But that was normal to me And she was such a kind woman So much that I still wanted to say Like I'm sorry But my heart is now cold For you I keep my patience In a little box, under my bed But what is an amusement park An amusement park without amusement Florida 2009, there, that is where I came across myself But I have moved a stone in the river And that despite of all the rain

Hey Bram, nice translation. The one thing i like to add is that the * klappen met een vuist* doesn't mean an fistbump. His father hit him at occasion, maybe it was worng but het still misses him and home (as in the times with his parents).

Florida 2009 intro, joost is sitting under the flag of friesland ( one of the dutch provinces where joost was born ) . He is very emotional, he wrote the first part in honor of his dad to add the second part of his mum . His father died when he was 12 , only to lose his mum one year later . In 2009 he sort of enotionally broke down in an amusement park in florida , because whats an amusementpark without somebody to amuse . He brought this at lowlands and wanted everyone there to hold someone and love them. Also in his esf entry europapa he mentions his dad and that when he was little he said to his dad that one day he would be in that stage . His dad told him that the world has no boundaries/ borders or limits . He searched and travelled to find some help and cure for the suffering . Now at the esf stage maybe he can find some closure . Joost is a very versatile artist with a great way of working with language , he is energetic, loveable and just a great personality .

Where did you read the story behind the reason of naming the song "florida 2009" ? I never heard of it before!

Thats indeed the reason behind Europapa. It's a tribute, in the end everything is burning. That means leaving the past behind and starting a new chapter.

A Dutch rap group from the early 2K's called Opgezwolle also used to do something like this at their concerts. They would go on hands to the back of the venue and then all the way back to the stage. I've been to multiple concerts of Opgezwolle and it always worked. Never seen them being dropped or anything. They loved performing and were big in the underground scene. But people saw their potential to go mainstream. And they did, but that wasn't even their goal. They just loved performing at smaller venues and interacting with the audience.
