There's a song called Coward of the County he did that is sad but a really amazing story at the same time. He was a great storyteller through song. My personal fave of his though is The Gambler.

Love Kenny Rogers music from when he was with the First Edition (60's-70's) to his solo career. He was a great story teller in many of his songs like "Coward Of The County" & "The Gambler". He had so many hits "Lucille", "Through the Years", "She Believes In Me", "You & I" (written by the Bee Gees) etc. He did a lot of duets such as with Kim Carnes "Don't Fall In Love With A Dreamer", with Sheena Easton "We've Got Tonight" & with Dolly Parton "Islands In The Stream". He also did quite a few duets with Dottie West.

Islands in the Stream was written by Barry Gibb of the Bee Gees. On their One Night Only special the Gibb frothers sing it. Lionel Richie does this song as well. I am not sure if Lionel released it first or not.

Islands in the Stream by Dolly and Kenny is not a cover. The Bee Gees wrote that for them to sing and it is from Kenny's album that the Bee Gees wrote the entire album. They write song and complete albums for many different singers.

The original band that it sings the song Lady is styx and then commodores and then Kenny Rogers

you are confused about the song Styx didn't write this song for one they had a song titled Lady but it didn't really become popular until this one released and Lionel Richie actually finished writing this song like one minute before Kenny preformed it writing in the bathroom backstage so sorry hopefully this helps you understand

If you listen to Styx to Lionel Richie version totally different. There is singers and there are song writers One may be a good lyricist but cannot sing for nothing and there are singers who cannot write good songs. Only band that I know of that was the best at it during this point in time was the Bee Gees they had hit after hit after hit in late 70's early 80's.
