@@MsCheese2000 Okay not wanting to box them in and allowing them to collab with different artists seems like a reasonable argument. But what does charting have anything to do with this? Last time I saw, a number on a website or billboard doesn't mean crap when you've been in the industry for 14-15 years. They've both outsold arenas in both Korea and Japan during their careers, what more do they need to prove to the public. Now it's about them doing what they want, making the music they want, and collaborating with whomever they want. Also, you seem to assume that if they were a group that they wouldn't have time to make their own solo music. But Taemin is living proof that it isn't the case. That man manages 2 groups and a successful solo career at the same time. I'm sure they could totally manage if they wanted to.

Key will have a Beyond Live concert at the end of September, before the album premiere, which is on the 27th of September. He said that "Hate That..." is mild and the title track will be spicy. And thet Lee Soo Man praised the title track very much :)

Haha I agree about Taeyeon, would not have gotten into Kpop so early on if not for her probably. When she appears, all my attention is focused solely on her, and I eagerly wait for her parts in SNSD or collab songs. Have followed her for a very long time, and will be sad the day she leaves the industry. I remember a specific interview with Nana Ouyang that describes this feeling well, she was asked how she'd react to GDragon in person, and she said she'd just be casual. But with Taeyeon she'd scream and fangirl....because "Taeyeon's just different" 😂 She seems to be a very popular girl crush, very versatile in terms of appearance, can pull off any makeup style to look cute or fierce, she really captures ya.

Don't worry about talking so much about your ult! Key for me is who Taeyeon is for you so I completely understand. I'm SO happy that they did this song together, their voices mesh so well. All of Taeyeon's collabs with SHINee have been incredible, I highly recommend listening to Taemin's If I Could Tell You if you haven't had the chance, I know you've reacted to Jonghyun's Lonely already. Correct me if I'm wrong but you haven't had a chance to react to Key's previous solo work yet right? I think you would particularly enjoy One Of Those Nights. Soyeon (G-Idle) and Soyou (Sistar and produce) both feature on other tracks from him, he picks such amazing collaborators. Kaia, when I tell you that you and I can bond over Taeyeon FOR HOURS, I mean it. She is had a very weird hold on me since 2007, she is not even my bias in SNSD, Tiffany has been my bias since the beginning and still is. But is so weird how Taeyeon stole a very specific part of my heart that is so dear to me. When you described your heart stopping for a second when you see her, I can completely relate fo that. She is had that hold on me since I was 13, now I’m 27 and she’s still holding strong. Once I get to go to a concert, I’m telling I will bawl like a 2 year old.

So, here is my theory about what I think is happening in Key's "Hate That ..." MV. Some people have said they think Key was hitting a self-destruct button which caused his spaceship to carean out of control -- referencing how his life is self-destructing after the breakup -- but I interpret it more as he is pressing the button to disengage his space capsule from the rocket boosters, etc. which is what is keeping him up there in space and on a perpetual orbit of the Earth. So, when he hits the button we see the capsule detach from the rest of the ship and fall back down to Earth, where we then see him back on Earth with Taeyeon. (He is crash landing back to reality and is no longer allowing himself to orbit in the realm of living in the the past and allowing himself to continue to obsess over the relationship.) At the end of the MV we see what looks like Taeyeon being rescued from the rock that she has been trapped on in the middle of the ocean. (The rock representing a rough, unforgiving place that is extremely uncomfortable, etc. in the middle of the cold desolate ocean all alone with nowhere to go.) Which I see as her being pulled out of that dark place. And as the news report on the TV screen says, "Breaking News: Woman rescued after ..." We don't know what comes after the word after because it's up to us all to decide how we choose to live our lives after a breakup, each individual person fills in the blank with their own idea of what "after" looks like. Key and Taeyeon are best friends and they have a sibling relationship -- often referred to as the Kim siblings -- so they are most definitely not portraying that they were in a relationship together. (That would just be kind of weird. LOL) As they mentioned during their VLive event before the premier of the MV, in the story they are talking about two separate relationships and going through their own experiences. Or portraying different sides of the same person. I see the story as way more metaphorical than just a simple breakup story, it's more like Taeyeon and Key are comizerating with each other because they understand what each other is going through. On a side note: I also think that with all the imagery of space, that at least a few scenes, if not the whole MV, also connects in someway to SM's Universe. I see the space theme not only connected to SHINee's "Don't Call Me" MV, but also to their "I Want You" MV and Key's "Forever Yours" solo MV, among several of SM's other groups' MVs. I have a feeling that "Hate That ..." might connect to another part of SM's storyline either with parts of the story in a past MV, or even things might become more clear in the future as this story connects to upcoming MVs, etc. As I am always reminding people, when it comes to SM content, if something reminds you of something else or you see similarities between something in one MV to something in another MV, than it was most likely done on purpose. Because pretty much everything SM does is connected. For example, I see obvious similarities between Taeyeon's red dress and Key's red outfit in SHINee's "Don't Call Me" MV -- the red is a very specific shade of red -- and the way she is standing on the rock in the middle of the ocean is very similar to the way that Key was standing on the submerged phone booth in "Don't Call Me," which I see as being connected to SM's Universe storyline. And some have even pointed out that the canister you see break a hole through Key's space capsule and land next to Taeyeon in the water could be a reference to the soda can we see Key holding in SHINee's "Atlantis" MV, etc. So, because of this, I think people need to pay attention to all of the storylines with all of SM's groups, because I think at least all of SM's third generation groups' MVs and storylines -- and probably even now their 4th gen groups with the introduction of aespa last year -- are being designed to connect stories and plots. Each group has their own individual storyline and concept, but when you put them all together, there are threads of connections between the groups. And that includes SuperM, EXO, Red Velvet, NCT/WayV, aespa, and maybe even Taemin's solo work, and possibly even SHINee. Even though SHINee are second gen, they actually fit within the age group of third generation groups, so they sort of bridge that gap between 2nd and 3rd gen. And although most of SM's older groups' concepts and MVs may have never been originally designed to have any type of connection to anything to do with anything, that doesn't necessarily mean that over the years as EXO's story has evolved or SM's Universe concept was being created, that SM didn't find "happy coincidences" within those MVs that allowed them to use them as a way to connect things together. For example, some have pointed to the fact that NingNing's butterfly in aespa's concept could be connected to the butterfly in EXO's "Mama" MV, and some have even made compelling arguments that it could even be connected to SHINee's butterfly in "Ring Ding Dong." Or the blue roses we see in Taemin's "Press Your Number" MV may be connected to EXO's flower/blue rose concept, etc. Now I'm not completely convinced that SM would reach back that far, but it makes you question and consider things. :D I mean we see what looks like the pink planet from Super Junior's recent "House Party" MV and a scene from Super Junior-K.R.Y.'s MV in "aespa's ep.1 - SM Culture Universe" video. And SM has even brought Kangta, who is a member of the very first Kpop boy group H.O.T., which debuted in 1996, into the storyline with his most recent solo MV remake of H.O.T's song "Free to Fly." So it's starting to look like SM may be hinting at bringing everyone into the storyline, including their older groups and artists.

This was such a powerful collaboration from two of Kpop's best. I was already beyond excited about these BFFs working together, but wasn't ready for the emotional impact. The stripped down arrangement just allowed their voices, especially those gorgeous harmonies, to soar and take centre stage. I love this song so much. The sound is gorgeous. The video is stunning but still simple. The lyrics are all feels. I love that it's both "I hate that you're happy" and also "I hate that I hate that you're happy", like missing the person and wanting them to be as miserable as you, while also hating yourself for wishing that on them. I think the MV represents 2 sides of a breakup. On one side, you have Key who thinks that Taeyeon is already done with him, he feels like it's already over and has given up, he blames himself. It's represented by him being in the space shuttle as it's plummeting to Earth. But on the other side, you have Taeyeon who's thinks that Key is already done with her because he never messages/calls her and she feels like she's been abandoned as it's represented by her being marooned on the rock. They're both at a relationship stalemate because they both aren't communicating. In the end, it says "Woman rescued after..." because in situations like that, nothing happens until someone moves on. Taeyeon walks away from the cafe, she moves on, while Key sits and regrets, Taeyeon rescues herself.
