The other part of the joke is...well, finnish alcohol culture is usually a big part of socializing (both men and women) so unless you are an alcoholic, you have some serious illness, religious reasons etc. it my raise some eyebrows why you are not drinking. So that is why they are lying of "not having anything really important". But on the other usually if you are best buddies with someone, as these 3 seem to be, you'd probably know few things about your buddies like their marital status, have they got kids, what is their profession so people WOULD ask "are you sure you are fit to do your job tomorrow?" I mean if you are just some office clerc, no problem, but anything requiring great amount of focus with you getting drunk or high is a not tolerated, not even here...
