I'm a few years late, but this is the Tagalog language. We do have a lot of Spanish words in our vocabulary because we were colonized by Spain for 333 years. A lot of our culture is influenced by Spain in many aspects such as language, food, dances, anual traditions and fiestas, etc.

Hi Ellis! Newbie here. I was brought here via your reaction to RAINBOW. Thank you for reacting to Filipino artists. Michael and KZ has quite a lot of performances on the wish bus all of which are commendable. KZ is singing in Filipino not Spanish. The wishbus is based in the Philippines thus most artists performing there are Filipinos, from time to time they do get foreign guests. On the basis of your background as a classical guitarist I HIGHLY RECOMMEND you react to BEN&BEN, they're an indie folk/folk pop band, they've got quite a few wishbus performances as well. I suggest you start with their original song RIDE HOME. I guarantee you wont just see double but get a double dose of surprise. You won't be disappointed and I predict you'll be an instant fan. Hope this is not too late, but KZ's bass player is Karel Honasan. He's really one of the most sought out bass players by different local artists in the Philippines. Also, Filipino languages has a ton of Spanish words borrowed. It's a history thing, we were under Spanish rule from around 1600's til the end of 1800s? Not sure.

Our filipino language has spanish words because we were colonized by spain for 300 years followed by the americans for 50 years so if you see an asian with american/english first name and spanish surname, most probably that person’s a Filipino haha
