Beautiful, my mom has dementia and it's extremely painful to see her disappear a little more everyday. My heart goes out to anyone going through it.

this song literally brings me to tears this is such an extremely powerful yet so sensitive song - and this slide guitar at the beginnig... *speechless* Thank you for pushing this important song by reacting to it. Besides: I just discovered your channel. I like your voice. And the way you speak. As a non-native speaker, I can understand you much better than many others.

This is the oldest tune Larkin Poe still perform live. It actually predates Larkin Poe, back into their Lovell Sisters days. It just never was the right fit for the bluegrass outfit. They had played it for years, without it being on an album. It was finally put on an album in 2021, a live album with a small orchestra in Miami, the Nu Deco Ensemble. The album is entitled "Paint the Roses", and there are several videos of that concert on KZbin. As to their ability to perform live, check out their cover series on their KZbin channel. They are one shot performances, shot on a iphone. Pick a tune you like, they're all stellar. They sound like this at the drop of a hat.

One of the most haunting performances ever. Not their usual fare (killer blues rock) but my favorite.

I tell people the same thing about time Dave. This year a couple friends have asked what I want for my birthday. All I want is a to just hang out even if for a little bit cuz the time I get to spend with them, which isn't much anymore, is more important than anything physical they could get me.

The guitar Megan is playing is called a lap steel because it's usually played sitting down with it in your lap. Lap steel players often use a volume pedal to fade the volume in and out to give it that organ sound.

Both the Lovell sisters grew up learning the violin. I reckon it has contributed to Megan's beautiful touch on her lap steel slide.

this song is just so powerful, especially it's lyrics. I'm not a music expert so i won't speak to that aspect of it, except for i think the tune lends itself beautifully to the overall message and emotion of the song. And that's the thing really, you can tell this song comes from a very brutal and honest place, speaks to an emotion and a fear so many of us face...the sadness as we watch a loved one slowly fade away and it hits us...this will be me someday, won't it?

This song has bee reacted to a ton and has received 11M views. Clearly, it is a deeply meaningful song and performance for many people including me. This was the best reaction I've seen to date. Your understanding of Megan's (aka the Slide Queen) approach and techniques to portray fear, insanity and uncertainty are spot on. And as always with the Larkin Poe, the arrangement, Rebecca's lead voice, right hand, and Megan's harmonies are untouchable.

Meghan is playing a lap steel guitar with an Ebo )in her left hand). The Ebo has a battery so it vibrates while she frets the guitar to sustain the note and give it the haunting sound. She originally played Dobro when they were a bluegrass band. Racheal who is singing is the younger sister was also in the bluegrass band along with their older sister who left music. Rachael is a completion mandolin player and a power house vocalist.

The slide is not fretted. It slides over the frets, which are not raised but just lines marking the notes. BTW, she uses a steel bar slide- not an EBow, which is shaped totally different. The haunting sound is from her amp and reverb pedal, tube screamer and echo delay.

She's playing a form of the Slide Guitar. I love the way she's chosen to play it in her own way as I've never seen it used like that!!! The other 2 ladies are her sisters. They are also known as the little sisters of the Allman Brothers...couldn't get much better!!!

It's called a lap steel guitar and it's designed to be played that way. It's not uncommon in old school country and blues music.

What it do, Dave?! That was a GREAT reaction. I've really gotten into Larkin Poe the past year and I'm actually attending my 1st concert with them later this month in New York! Yes, that's a slide guitar / lap steel guitar the older sister plays. It originated in Hawaii, but was adopted by mostly blues, rock and country music in the 40's, 50's and 60's. Lastly, I'd like to request that you please listen to 19-year old Courtney Hadwin, similarly. I'd suggest 3-songs. Her cover of "Hard To Handle", which she performed at her America's Got Talent audition 5-years ago, her cover of "Sign Of The Times" and her original she just released a few months ago, "That Girl Don't Live Here". THANK YOU!

WHAT IT DO DAVE Larkin Poe also plays a song called Every Bird That Flies. If you liked this 1, you should definitely check it out. Fun fact- this is Edgar Allan Poe's great great great great grandkids, the girls and the drummer. The reverb is from where they're playing at The Covenant House, designed for sound

Incorrect, Larkin Poe was their 4th great grandfather, and he, a distant cousin of Edgar.
