Hey so I'm Indian, and as this song is inspired by Bollywood (as stated by them and also as is obvious to anyone with any experience with Indian music), I can confirm that I didn't see anything in their outfits which could be considered cultural appropriation from South Asia, which is honestly a breath of fresh air because it happens so much. Actually they had some more subtle references in their costuming which wasn't appropriation and I actually liked a lot. For example, the paisley shirt Kim Lip wears, as paisley is a common print in Indian culture, was a really nice touch! Also the use of the red strings is not unique to Indian culture ofc, it exists all over East Asia including in Korea, but in an Indian Hindu context it is seen as a sign of protection. Also, obviously nose rings are also not specific to South Asia, but they are very common and I wouldn't be surprised if this was another reference. These little things suggest a greater degree of research has been done into the culture than simply putting a bindi on someone's forehead or other stereotypical signifiers which would actually be appropriation. I hope their stylists are able to maintain this respect throughout their live stages.

"I think most people complaining are not even desis but I saw a lot of foreigners talking shit." That's the problem. Most of the complaints we see aren't from people trying to protect their culture. But at the same time I wish BBC would put in the extra effort to give those members their chance to shine. Maybe bring back solos and subunits? Do something like Twice's Melody Project or Dreamcatcher's Special Clips?

Hey ! ik some other desi people also stated they feel the same, but I'm Pakistani-Indian and I just wanted to say that I think this is completely cultural appreciation. I'm thrilled with this comeback, it's probably my favorite so far, probably because of the Bollywood influence. Also, the fact that they mentioned the Bollywood influence in the video description and described the elements that were influenced really warms my heart :))! ** I also wanted to mention you shouldn't assume, or really make any statements abt ca if you're not from that culture. Ik you didn't mean any harm as you didn't expand on it, but it's still kinda out of place, even if you did some research. Like, when you said there was nothing that you saw that was ca, hyunjin and Vivi were wearing headpieces that heavily resembled maang tikkas and matha pattis, which some desi people think is ca.

people are gonna be mad about how certain members have a lot of lines (lip, yves, heejin, etc...) but they have to realize that BBC needs to make money so they are going to feed the members with lines who have the most fans, thats just how LOONA has to make money. sure its frustrating but if they put equal focus on heejin as they do vivi and gowon they simply would get less money, and we need these girls to make money.
@TalkingAboutYooh3 жыл бұрын
Not only that but imagine the difficulty in writing a song to fit 12 different vocalists. It's almost impossible to do so someone is going to get the short end of the stick. It sucks that it's often Vivi and Gowon but that's just the way it is. Usually, the difference is made up on the b-sides.
@cookiemonster45dc3 жыл бұрын
That doesn’t make any sense If that was the case Vivi would be getting a lot of lines as well because she trends on Social media more than any other member also so does Gowon…it’s just bbc is lazy and doesn’t know how to incorporate them into these songs. WOW has sooo many gowon lines because she fits perfectly in the melody and so does vivi. Those two could’ve easily taken the rap lines with yeojin.
@jammm21133 жыл бұрын
(I'm on my laptop, so sorry if this seems a lot) that's kinda bull if you think about it. one of the reason why there are underrated members are bc they don't have enough exposure. heejin had several commercials and participated in mixnine too. if BBC is gonna push them at the back, it's just going to continue a vicious cycle and at the end of it, the already underrated members are just going to fade away in the background. gowon is a dancer, vivi a former model, BBC could definitely use those abilities at their advantages but they doing nothing with it. in my opinion (I can be awfully wrong), even if people bias heejin, kim lip and such, I've seen a lot of orbits reaction hyping up the most underrated members like yeojin, vivi, etc. so it is a bad idea to showcase such a bad line distribution bc many orbits are just going to complain. the comeback is BOMB, but bc of that every two comments under the MV, it's about the lack of lines. you definitely don't want to showcase negativity.
