I'm glad Miley didn't start here. She's introducing great music to a lower age bracket who probably haven't heard these songs by the greats. I also think Miley is coming from a place of appreciation for this music and she's able to do it justice now because of what she's been through in and out of the industry. ❤ I'd like to see her and her sister, Noah, do a rock song together. Kind of an Ann and Nancy Wilson, sweet and sour vibe.

I just had the crazy realization that Janis Joplin was 26 years old when she first recorded this song, and Miley is performing it here just a month before her 29th birthday - which is 2 more birthdays than Janis ever got to celebrate. Anyway, I always think of Janis as an old soul, and Miley as a kid, so it's weird to see Miley doing this song at an older age than Janis ever performed it.
