Moonbyul has mostly done melodic raps. She wanted to do this sound for her solo because she wanted to say that music shouldn't be gendered as these types of sound are mainly done by male artists only in Kpop.

the thing about moonbyul's raps (and songs where she both sings and raps in general) is that its hard hitting but not necessarily in the traditional sense where its fast with a heavy beat and meant to be "badass" all the time. shes an incredible songwriter who paints a picture with her words and flow that really conveys the message and emotion. that's why she's a very versatile rapper and able to rap in all kinds of genres from jazz to ballads to r&b without it feeling out of place in anyway. this is very apparent in the bsides of this solo EP which I recommend you guys check out, be it a reaction or on your own

I've been waiting for this!! I knew you guys would be blown away by this song and video. We knew you weren't ready. You _thought_ you were ready, but when you got into ring you found out you were dealing with a 600 pound gorilla. Moonbyul has taken the gloves off, didn't come to play. I also loved the look on Steve's face when you announced who you were reacting to. Such a good blindside. Good job, John. Seriously though, as I've said elsewhere, I haven't fan-boyed over anything, for over a decade, like I've been fan-boying over this song and MV. I knew within the first 5 seconds, when she stood up from the chair, that this was going to be epic. I still, literally, get chills every time I watch this video, and I've watched it a LOT. It's interesting that you mentioned Jekyll and Hyde during your reaction. The concept behind the music video is that everyone has a light side and a dark side (like the moon, like Jekyll and Hyde). Who you ultimately end up being depends entirely on how you balance those two sides. She portrays this perfectly in the video. In the video we see Moonstar, Moonbyul's light side in white. She is the protector who will guard you against the dark side ("I'll become a star and shine on you" "I'll save you with my light" and so on). Then we see Monster, in black, Moonbyul's dark side who is, well, a monster. There's a third persona as well, the Mediator, the one pulling and / or being pulled by the ropes, who stands between the light and dark sides, trying to rein them in and maintain balance. If you watch her live performances (which are required viewing, btw) you'll notice that she actually changes the dance to match the persona she is in during the performance, based on which outfit she wears. It's the same choreography, but for one persona the moves are sharper, more aggressive. In the other they're more fluid. These little details is what makes a ridiculously good performer and showman. It's what makes her an artist instead just a kpop idol.

I received my copy of the album the day after it was released and the whole album rocks. It's got a range of songs from this to pretty acoustic guitar songs like Weird Day, songs like Mirror where she really sings. Pretty ballads like Snow. It's just great.

Would yall consider reacting to her ep "Dark Side of the Moon"?? Imo, it really shows a good part of her range as a singer/rapper. Also, her solo debut song "Selfish" is _completely_ different than this😅. Edit: at 6:45 , the "of course she did!" killed me😂😂

Yes, "Dark Side of the Moon" is the name of her solo album, which 'Eclipse' [this song] is the Title Song for. Also on it, is the official release of her songs 'Moon Movie' & 'Mirror'

Snow which is on the album but got a video before Christmas, was so different to eclipse, is a beautiful song

Hey Steve and John, imagine Band-Maid doing a rock fusion remix with Moonbyul on this song. *drool* Misa playing bassy awesomeness, Kanami doing some tapping with Akane killing us with drumline the way she can, Miku with solid rhythm riffs and Saiki in a duet with Byulie.
